Hey, before you write "Not done" below this just please take the time to read this feeble plea of mine; then you can go ahead and write "Not done" as you wish. Fair enough? Thanks.

I've found this account, after wondering if it had been created so I could take the opportunity to rename myself into something more awesome. It was apparently created in 2006 and indef-blocked for its username, though I do not understand what would be wrong with using such a username if there are other users editing under names of more well-known mascots, such as User:Wikipede (though I am not trying to objectify Mountainwriter for the sake of a name, his contributions are valuable in nature). Even more puzzling is the fact that User:Wikipedian, which on a far larger scale represents Wikipedians was not indef-blocked for this kind of thing; albeit the user admittedly "parking" the username with only one edit by the user to their own userpage. (Further investigation shows that a usurpation of that account was denied in the past, which is just how this may probably end nonetheless; you may reject this per their criteria. I thought it couldn't hurt to try though.)

So I've gone to WP:USERNAME and checked out the four basic reasons usernames are not appropriate; this is obviously not promotional, offensive, or disruptive. It's the possible misleading quality of this that I continue on about. Going to Wikipe-tan's article, which states that she's a "community mascot"; so by usurping this username I may be making an unintentional misrepresentation, as in declaring myself "official", which I do not desire to do.

Yes, I know I may be making a big deal out of this, as if this usurpation was blown-up to some request for permissions or something. And I am aware odds are against me in this situation, it may cause a few inconveniences, clogging a few tubes here and there. I'm not hiding that.

In addition, I am also willing to relinquish my hold on my current SUL. If this usurpation is carried out I will immediately request for a steward to delete my SUL.

In conclusion- I'm just a puny rollbacker... if you just let it be and give me the account, I'll continue my job and strive to improve. If you don't, heck, I wasn't begging anyone for anything, it won't dampen my interest, I'll shut up and go back to my rollbacking and page patrolling, content and all the same. :D Many thanks and warm regards, ♠ 12:27, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Tim Thomason" was my previous User name on Wikipedia (and several other Wikimedia groups) prior to April 2007. Due to unknown causes, I was unable to sign in with my old password on any of those sites. After several exhaustive methods trying to remedy the situation (mainly via chat with Wikia and Wikipedia folk), I gave up and just adopted my current username for any uses on Wikipedia.

I have felt that usurpation was unlikely in the past due to the fact that "User:Tim Thomason" did not have a confirmed e-mail in the past. Wikipedia isn't consistent. I'm requesting usurpation of the account Grunny after I was advised that this may be possible in borderline cases like this. I'm a long-time Wiki user but only recently started editing on Wikimedia. I have however, been registered under the user name Grunny since 2005 on Wikia, where I volunteer as a member of the SpamTaskForce which is a kind of global sysop for countering vandalism and spam across Wikia Wikis. However, I only created an account on Wikimedia in September last year, not aware that it had been previously taken on Wikipedia in 2007 for one edit. For reference my main wiki on Wikia is Wookieepedia (my user page there), where I have been active since 2005, and my central user page can be found here. I'm also active or am an administrator on various projects there such as the Harry Potter Wiki and Firefly and Serenity Database. My current SUL for the user name Grunny on Wikimedia is [4]. So far on Wikimedia I have been most active on Wikiversity and Simple Wikipedia where I am rollbacker mainly involved in countervandalism.
