The result was redirect‎ to 1962 Speedway World Team Cup. There is consensus against leaving the page as a standalone article. The sole objection to the redirect did not put forward any coherent argument against such a redirect, and I doubt any such argument would stand up in RfD anyway. • Comment: The Czech version cs:Bedřich Slaný of the article says (without a reference) that he died on 11 October 1980. Perhaps a news article about him or an obituary in a reliable source was published shortly after his death. Someone with access to Czechoslovak news media from 1980 might want to search for references from October 1980. The Wikipedia Library would also be worth searching. • Note: The Olympic Games are not the sports pinnacle, there is no speedway at the Olympic Games as is the case for numerous other sports. For information the pinnacle of speedway is the World Individual championships (now called the Grand Prix) and the World Cup.   Of course, I meant in general that if for Olympic sports the participation of an athlete in the Olympics is not a criterion of notability, the participation of a speedway racer in the Speedway World Cup is also not a criterion of notability. The sources you have added here and elsewhere do not demonstrate notability according to Wikipedia criteria.

• He's mentioned a number of times on Hungarian newspaper archive Arcanum – after he died an international race was named in his honor: "Druhý ročník Memoriálu Bedřicha Slaného je dalším významným meziná­rodním závodem" [The second year of the Bedřich Slaného Memorial is another important international race]. • Delete – Unconvinced by the arguments put forward by keep !voters which are based on personal standards rather than any sort of policy. I acknowledge the source check conducted by BeanieFan11, but all mentions I saw on Arcanum were routine.trivial mentions, not significant coverage of the individual. I also do not believe that a memorial race in any way indicates significance or notability, such a gesture is not unusual in any field. 1962 Speedway World Team Cup is not a suitable target and I oppose redirecting there. 5225_C (talk • contributions) 03:22, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
