- Nominator's rationale: I'm going to go on a limb here and say that the parent category and all of its subcategories that include "acting theorists" in their names should be deleted. In the over 10 years this category has existed, there has never been an article or redirect at Acting theorist, Acting theorists, Acting theory or Acting theories. Without some method in which to define this term via content in a Wikipedia article (whether it be an article itself or a section thereof), having categories for such a subject is unverifiable WP:OR in its use as a real term. So, as far as it stands at this point with the state of Wikipedia, the term "acting theorist" is at worst made-up and at best undefined. Steel1943 (talk) 19:13, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- Upmerge all country categories to Category:Acting theorists per WP:SMALLCAT. Also I would suggest renaming Category:Acting theorists to Category:Acting writers using more descriptive terminology, which should then be parented to Category:Writers by non-fiction subject area. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:15, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
- ...What is "Acting writer/Acting writers/Acting writing/Acting write/etc.? Such a remake creates the same issue I'm brought up in my nomination; the term doesn't exist, so having such a category can be misleading to readers. Steel1943 (talk) 17:32, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
- Personally I would have preferred Category:Writers about acting but I notice in Category:Writers by non-fiction subject area that nearly all subcategories have the format of "subject area writers". Marcocapelle (talk) 17:37, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
- Upmerge most -- The American category is large enough to keep. Category:Acting theorists is a strange name and should be renamed somehow. I would suggest that drama/dramatic should appear in the target, but I cannot think quite what. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:53, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Peterkingiron: I originally considered suggesting a new name with the phrase "Drama theory" or a variation in it, but it seems evident that subject in Drama theory is a different subject than what the contents of these categories are supposed to represent. Steel1943 (talk) 17:59, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Peterkingiron: And then, I see the existence of Dramatic theory. Maybe Category: Dramatic theorists? Steel1943 (talk) 18:03, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
- Category: Dramatic theorists would fit what I was looking for well. I do not think this should be confined to theatre (as suggested below) as films (other than documentaries) are a form of drama. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:35, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Nominator comment: If the parent category is kept or renamed, I do agree that the rest of the subcategories should be up merged per WP:SMALLCAT. Steel1943 (talk) 18:03, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
- Comment: There is Category:Theatre theorists as well. There also used to be a Theatre theory redirect, but it was deleted in 2011 per G8, and I can't see what it originally redirected to. - Manifestation (talk) 11:13, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- For the record, that page was created as a redirect to Theater theory, but there was never anything at that target page. – Fayenatic London 22:20, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Fayenatic london: Ok thanks. That's quite odd. Also, do you happen to have an opinion on this subject? Perhaps you can conclude this thread and close it? Cheers, Manifestation (talk) 15:44, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- Comment: Category:Brtish acting theorists is misspelled. - Manifestation (talk) 11:13, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Delete the subcategories per WP:SMALLCAT, but Keep the main category, due to the existence of Dramatic theory. Acting theory and Theatre theory overlap significantly, and could become redirects to it. All these are notable terms and various sources on them can be found on google ("dramatic theory", "acting theory", "theatre theory"). While Dramatic theory continues to be a stub, I do believe a person will come along someday to expand it. Curiously, the German article on dramatic theory is quite big. Even the Spanish and the Georgian articles are bigger than ours. :-) Content from those pages could be migrated to our wiki. Cheers, Manifestation (talk) 11:17, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Delete not sure that drama theory is acting theory as one is about the writing and the other is about the players. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 19:22, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

- Propose deleting Category:Male video essayists (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Nominator's rationale: Single-entry WP:SMALLCAT. We don't have any category for Category:Video essayists at all, so there's no need to subcategorize them for gender before we even have a general category for the occupation in the first place. Bearcat (talk) 16:12, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- rename/rescope as Category:Video essayists It seems we have several video essayists - male and female - with articles (e.g., Evan Puschak, Lindsay Ellis, Kogonada, Wayne Shannon), so a general category is probably worthwhile. Grutness...wha? 03:06, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: Single-entry WP:SMALLCAT for one newspaper in a small town. Every town does not automatically need one of these the moment it has one media outlet with a Wikipedia article; it is only valuable if there are at least four or five media outlets to categorize, and otherwise the outlets should just be categorized at the provincial level instead of a one-item city category. The entry is also already in the "published in Fars" category that I've proposed for renaming to "Media in Fars Province" below, so no valuable context will be lost. Bearcat (talk) 15:40, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- Support. When I created this (and similar Iranian media categories) it had quite a few more articles, but a lot of radio station articles have been merged since. Grutness...wha? 03:00, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: rename. MER-C 18:20, 11 April 2020 (UTC)
- Propose renaming Category:Published in Fars to Category:Media in Fars Province
- Nominator's rationale: Improperly named category. While categories for "Magazines published in X" and/or "Newspapers published in X" may exist, we have no recognized scheme of mixing magazines with newspapers in an undifferentiated "Published in X" tree -- if we aren't splitting magazines and newspapers up into their own magazine or newspaper specific subcategories, then they go in a "Media in X" category, not a "Published in X" category, and even if we wanted to split them up into "magazines" and "newspapers" categories on numerical grounds their parent category would still be "Media in Fars Province" rather than "Published in Fars". Breakfast television by country[edit]
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was: revised rename per Bearcat. – Fayenatic London 22:12, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: To comply with WP:TIES. Per the Breakfast television article, "morning show" is the term used in Canada and the United States. I currently do not see anything on WP:CATNAME#Categories by country that says "Foo in country" categories have to retain the existing variety of the parent "Foo" or "Foo by country" category. Instead for example, compare Category:Footballers in the United Kingdom with Category:Soccer players in the United States, and Category:Tire manufacturers of Austria. Zzyzx11 (talk) 02:11, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- Rename - country categories should indeed use the local term. Category:Transport by country is another (transportation). Oculi (talk) 08:57, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- Rename to Category Television morning shows in Canada and Category:Television morning shows in the United States. It is entirely correct that the generic name for the type of show this is, in North American English, is "morning show" rather than "breakfast television". Admittedly one of the Canadian ones uses Breakfast Television as its name, but that's actually another reason why this should go forward — it makes the Canadian one look, wrongly, like an eponymous category for that particular show in isolation rather than a group category for all of them. But the term "television" should still be retained in the category names, because radio stations also have morning shows. Bearcat (talk) 15:44, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- Support Bearcat's amendment. There are radio morning shows, too. Grutness...wha? 03:00, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose - that puts it out of sync with everything in Category:Law in the United Kingdom, which takes precedence (local). C2C applies to any parent, so there is a clash. Moreover there is no British law (it's a redirect). Oculi (talk) 08:44, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- As I understand it there is no such thing as British Law. Categories in Category:Law in the United Kingdom do have some "British" categories. However most use United Kingdom. Rathfelder (talk) 10:18, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- There is English law, Welsh law and Scots law. There is Category:British laws but the vast majority of its subcats use UK. Oculi (talk) 13:07, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose -- There is no such thing as British law. Commerical law tends to be similar, but Scots law is different from English (and Welsh). Northern Irish (and RoI) law is also based on common law and similar to English. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:58, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose per Oculi. To amplify, the reason there is no "American law" is because there is no sovereign entity named "America". "American" is common casual usage but it would be confusing to reference "American law." --Lquilter (talk) 15:34, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
