March 2015[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Geniac. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Nusrat Jahan, but you didn’t support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Geniac (talk) 15:19, 4 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Close paraphrasing[edit]

I noticed that the content you recently added to the Flag of India matched the language of the cited India Today article. This can raise copyright concerns and I'd recommend that you take a look at WP:PARAPHRASE for tips on how to avoid such problems in the future.
I have reverted your edit because of that and other concerns listed in my edit-summary. Let me know if you have any questions. Abecedare (talk) 19:45, 4 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

See my replies on my user talk page and at the article talk page. We can continue the discussion at the latter location, if needed. Abecedare (talk) 19:38, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for March 14[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Surangana Bandyopadhyay, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bengali. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

License tagging for File:Stuart binny.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Stuart binny.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 12:05, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

hey ImageTaggingBot I'm awfully sorry as I forgot to mention the copyright status. Now I've added that information into that image. Suman420 (talk) 12:14, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Tanushree bengali actress.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tanushree bengali actress.jpg, which you've attributed to http://www.jiyobangla.com/news/a-fragrant-puja-is-waiting-for-tollywood-diva-tanusree-chakraborty. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Geniac (talk) 02:24, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Geniac I've changed the copyright status. If you still think that is not suitable, then remove the image. thank you. Suman420 (talk) 07:42, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Now it has no explanation as to why it is permitted under the non-free image policy. Non-free images need a rationale each time they are used in an article. --Geniac (talk) 10:57, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've tried to give a reason in summary. Can you Geniac please check it and tell me If I have to provide more information regarding that or not?? Suman420 (talk) 13:39, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You've left the Replaceability entry blank. You'll need to explain why this non-free image of a living person is not replaceable by a free image. --Geniac (talk) 21:28, 18 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use images[edit]

Hi. Explanations like the one you added at File:Laxmi Ratan Shukla.jpeg are not sufficient for using an image under a claim of fair use in an article about a living person. Unless the person is in hiding (for example, as Osama bin Laden was prior to his capture), it is assumed that it is possible for us to obtain a freely licensed image. Just because one does not exist right now does not mean it is not possible for one to in the future. --B (talk) 14:56, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey B If an image is not mentioned by its copyright status, then how can I use that image on wiki?? Thank you. Suman420 (talk) 15:44, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Most likely, you can NOT use it. The vast majority of images on the internet are NOT acceptable to use on Wikipedia and there is no tag that you can put on the image that will make them so. All creative works (photographs, paintings, etc) are copyrighted from the moment of creation (unless they were published in the United States before 1978). If you take a photograph with your camera, that photograph is copyrighted, even if you don't register the copyright. If you publish it to your Facebook page or Twitter account, it is still copyrighted, even if there is no copyright notice. We can only use images here if (a) they are public domain because their term of copyright has expired or (b) the copyright holder has explicitly stated that the image may be used under the terms of the GFDL, an acceptable Creative Commons license, or another acceptable license. If you are in personal contact with a copyright holder and would like to ask him or her to publish an image under acceptable terms, please see WP:COPYREQ for details and WP:CONSENT for the consent form we would need from the copyright holder.
The reason for this policy is that Wikipedia believes in promoting free content, that is, content that is not encumbered by the need to obtain copyright clearances. So in the case of living people, we do not use images under a claim of fair use because we would rather encourage donation of a public domain or Creative Commons one. --B (talk) 15:53, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much B, Now I've got it. Suman420 (talk) 16:13, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nalbari (Assembly constituency)[edit]

It was not a test page; it was not indecipherabe nonsense; it gavethe context--a particular legislative constituency. Since all such constituencies are notable, that's enough to keep it in WP. I removed the speedy tag. The speedy tags are applied nrrrowly, as specified at WP:CSD. It is not even necessary that there be a reference. DGG ( talk ) 13:30, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

this also applies to villages--all of them are notable. Please read WP:Deletion Policy and WP:CSD before making deletion nominations. DGG ( talk ) 13:43, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Azharuddin Mallick[edit]

The article Azharuddin Mallick has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Player fails WP:NFOOTY and WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Football notability[edit]

Hey, please not that for a player in India to be considered notable he must have played one match in the I-League or have played in a Federation Cup or Durand Cup match between two I-League teams. Indian Super League players are also considered notable IF THEY PLAY. If a player is on the bench but does not play, they are not notable, only if they actually get on the field. Since the Calcutta Football League is not fully-professional (many teams are semi-pro and players have second-jobs etc.) players who make their debut in the league are not considered notable. Cheers. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 20:36, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

He has already been signed by mohun bagan for this season and he will be featured in upcoming I-League and AFC too...so, deleting this won't be justified. If he does not get featured in any known league then your proposed deletion article will be justified. I'm gonna remove the deletion tag...you can contest it for deleting the article.Suman420 (talk) 07:42, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Please read WP:NFOOTY. He needs to actually play in the I-League and AFC Cup before getting a page. You can't just make it before this happens, otherwise anyone could create a page for anything, saying they will be notable soon. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 19:42, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Seema Jaswal[edit]

Hello Suman420,

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

Reply[edit]

Hi, thanks for message. I deleted your article because

  • it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. It is now Wikipedia policy that biographical articles about living people must have independent verifiable references, as defined in the link, or they will be deleted. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the company, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what she claims or interviewing her management. Your sources are all affiliated with her, and one is her management company
  • Most of the text beyond the opening paragraph is either unsourced or not supported by the reference
  • it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced claims presented as fact include: She showed how fervid she is about sports... She won the Cannons Tennis Tournament in London and represented Richmond Borough in Tennis, Netball, Table Tennis, Hockey and Athletics...

Note that only her name should be bolded, at its first occurence, and there shouldn't be any social media links. It's not the worse I've seen, and if you want to try again, I'll post the deleted text to a user subpage for you to work on, just let me know. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Seema Jaswal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Thank you for uploading File:Seema Jaswal.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. File permission problem with File:Seema Jaswal.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Seema Jaswal.jpg.

You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 08:48, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

hey Eeekster, can you help me...The picture was captured by me...how can I use it on Wiki?? I mean the license. Suman420 (talk) 08:18, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You need to edit the page and add a license tag. Eeekster (talk) 19:13, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please help defend SAFF articles for deletion[edit]

Hi Suman420, please help me defend the SAFF sub articles which are currently being considered for deletion. Many of these articles contain information that is useful to football in the SAFF region and Indian football, in my opinion these articles should remain on Wikipedia. You can join the discussion here although of course you should express your opinion, not mine. Thanks. Inter&anthro (talk) 02:12, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 03:04, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016[edit]

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)

New deal for page patrollers[edit]

Hi Suman420,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Ishika Taneja requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia.

However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. —usernamekiran(talk) 19:49, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
