Welcome[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia, the greatest encyclopedia on Earth! You seem to be off to a good start. Hopefully you will soon join the vast army of Wikipediholics! You may wish to review the welcome page, tutorial, and stylebook, as well as the avoiding common mistakes and Wikipedia is not pages. You may also want to check out Wikipedia:Merge, for information about merging, renaming and moving pages. The Wikipedia directory is also quite useful. In addition, you might want to add yourself to the new user log; if you made any edits before getting an account, you may wish to assign those to your username.

By the way, an important tip: To sign comments on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments.

Finally, here are some open tasks:

You can help improve the articles listed below! This list updates frequently, so check back here for more tasks to try. (See Wikipedia:Maintenance or the Task Center for further information.)

Help counter systemic bias by creating new articles on important women.

Help improve popular pages, especially those of low quality.

Cyanobloom image[edit]

Thanks for catching that! My error, never saw that fine print on the NASA page. I removed the image from the article, so it is now an orphan. It will thus be deleted in a week or so. --Janke | Talk 07:02, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Removing user discussion pages[edit]

Please see WP:USER and WP:OWN. As for evidence, any admin can see any deleted edit. Thanks for writing! RadioKirk talk to me 20:10, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, I was looking at the wrong edit. I removed this user's talk page at the user's own request, which is within rights. If you believe it should be restored, please bring it up for community discussion at WP:AN. Thanks for writing! RadioKirk talk to me 20:27, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
A person who says (s)he is leaving Wikipedia may ask for all user pages to be deleted and, unless good cause is presented otherwise, it's usually granted. If you have good cause, please post it at WP:AN. RadioKirk talk to me 21:48, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not aware of a written policy one way or another. It is my experience, however, that when a user asks for it, unless there are circumstances under which it should be denied, the request is usually granted. Should I refer you to someone with more experience on this specific subject? RadioKirk talk to me 22:13, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for pointing me to changes since the last time I'd read policy. As for my more recent experiences, granted, these have been cases of users with extraordinary reasons for deletion, so I'd had no reason to think that anything had changed. RadioKirk talk to me 23:19, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Systems[edit]

Thank you for your contribution to Category:Systems in the past. There is currently a Call for Deletion for this category. If you would like to contribute to the discussion, you would be very welcome. In particular, if you would like to save this category, please add a Keep entry with your "signature" using "~~~~". Please do this soon if possible since the discussion period is very short. Thank you for your interest if you can contribute. Regards, Jonathan Bowen 18:19, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
