      • Only thing I can think of is that he was using one proxy per new account, which is a good way to prevent detection but seems awfully time-consuming. These are definitely JA/Grawp -- there is no doubt about the username pattern. He spends hours and hours creating these socks -- and he says *we* have no lives? Erin cali account

I note you blocked the User:Erin cali70 account, an account which I have been following, see User talk:Erin cali70, although i didn't see any new discussion at the Jvolkblum checkuser area. Perhaps you are not aware that Erin cali was checked and cleared by checkuser of association with jvolkblum. In some discussion even Orlady conceded that Erin cali appeared not to be Jvolkblum, although new evidence could change her and my opinions. But, I am not aware of new evidence or discussion at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Jvolkblum or Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Jvolkblum or elsewhere.

It is not appropriate to block any new user merely for touching New Rochelle area articles.

Could you please reverse the block and/or explain? doncram (talk) 19:55, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for replying. Maybe this is indeed the same person as original Jvolkblum or others caught up in this case; I don't know enough about the IP addresses and all that to have real perspective on that evidence, although I have objected to fast judgments made solely on the basis that a new editor touched a New Rochelle area article. As a courtesy to me and/or to this user, would you please Unblock the Talk page of Erin cali70 for the person to be able to respond there? I understand that out of all the Jvolkblum-labelled accounts, only the Talk:Jvolkblum page is unblocked for the original Jvolkblum to respond or to make any appeal. I think it is quite likely that this person is different than that original one, and/or does not have the password or access to that account. I have invested somewhat in trying to assist this Erin cali user, and I would like for the person to be able to respond. I want to see what Erin has to say to me. Thanks. doncram (talk) 20:57, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help with delete

Hello, My name is John and last night I tried to create an account from my house and it said I was banned Jan 27th until April 27th. I was just hoping you could help me since I have never used wiki before.

It said I (IP 98.231.22.5) was banned by Nishkid64 who gave the reason

CheckUser evidence has determined that this IP address (or network) has been used abusively.
This address (or network) has been blocked temporarily or permanently to prevent further abuse.

In extreme cases, an entire network may be blocked to prevent an abusive user from continually changing their IP address in order to evade blocks or abusing multiple accounts. If you are a registered user and are seeing this message, please follow these instructions.

Administrators: CheckUsers are privy to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy, and therefore must be consulted before this block can be removed.

Users: If you already have an account in good standing, you may request IP block exemption to bypass this block. Post an unblock request to your user talk page.

I was just hoping you could help me figure this out. Maybe someone was using my internet? I'm not sure, but I was hoping to see the incident that happened. I am sending this from my account I created at school (nflmockdraftaces), but it is in reference to my home IP which is 98.231.22.5

Runtshit

Thank you for confirming my long-standing belief that Zuminous is a sock of Runtshit. Would it be possible to check other puppetmasters who are themselves likely socks --Truthprofessor, Borisyy and Shmuelsheiman? All three of these exhibit the same pattern as Runtshit/Zuminous: frequent creation of throw-away IDs for edit-warring on specific Middle East-related articles (Truthprofessor on Steven Plaut, Borisyy and Shmuelsheiman on Neve Gordon; defamation and possibly libellous edits; similar tone and language; use of the same unreliable right-wing sources.

I have no doubt that these are all the same person; it would be useful to confirm this. It would also be interesting to check if any of these also made edits using a University of Haifa IP; following the earlier checkuser, both Avruch and I wrote to the IT department there; but neither of us has received any response. If their network is indeed being used for vandalism and defamation, there must be some way we can oblige them to take action on this.

This vandal's disruptive activity has been going on for far too long, and is harming Wikipedia; I hope you can help put a stop to this. RolandR (talk) 10:10, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Nishkid64/Archive 55,

WikiProject Piracy is currently undergoing some updates and changes, and we are trying to find out who is still active in the project. You are currently listed as a participant on the list of participants, and we would like for you to update your status. Please move your name to the section that best describes your activity in the project:

  • Active - still active and interested within the scope of the WikiProject.
  • Semi-Active - still active on Wikipedia, but not as active in regards to the WikiProject.
  • Former Members - a catch-all classification for those editors who are not active on Wikipedia, those that are still on Wikipedia, but no longer part of this WikiProject, or those that have otherwise not moved their names to another classification yet.

Countrywomangirl's account was created several hours after Fidodidoman was blocked and all of Countrywomangirl's edits are on the same articles edited by Fidodidoman immediately before he was blocked. Economics portal

I saw you are the major contributor to the Econ Portal ! or maybe just to the selected feature article. I was going to suggest that Bernard Madoff be put up as the featured article in time for his presumed guilty pleas on Thursday, March 12. But it seems another Keynes article was chosen this month.

BTW, I saw these on Wikinews and was wondering whether they could be made to work on the portal? {{Crude Oil Prices}}

{{Stock Market data}}

Who actually runs the portal anyway?

Any help appreciated.

Smallbones (talk) 20:35, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am not really a major contributor as the editor who usually runs the portal is Nishkid64. I have transcribed your post to his talkpage for his information. Madoff is indeed a good choice for featured article, which is why I added Charles Ponzi to the portal last month. Please feel free to make any changes that you wish. thanx for your comments. though I do strongly feel that the title Islamic Extremism among British Pakistanis refers to a notable and verifiable phenomenon which deserves inclusion in wikipedia. Not only that it has obvious security implications for those of us who live in the US of A so much so that state dept has been trying to get British Pakistanis to get a visa b4 flying to the states. I have added several more references from credible news sources. let us see what happens. cheers;-)--Wikireader41 (talk) 03:33, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Another technical question. this article does have 'under construction' tag and I believe was tagged for speedy deletion in bad faith by a Pakistan associated editor. He was duly admonished by another administrator for this. i was reading Wikipedia:Deletion of pages under construction#When to delete. it is my intention to work on this article and have this article be fully compliant with all wikipedia policies. it seems this would necessitate withdrawal of nomination for deletion ? is that true if so what is the procedure. thanx a lot--Wikireader41 (talk) 17:51, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
