Vandalism Message .........

Hi, You recently sent me this message :-

Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Lemn Sissay. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. --Nishkid64 20:18, 3 October 2006 (UTC).

Here is a bit of information that I think you ought to know. I merely 'corrected' an address which was stated wrongly in the text. The place-name I corrected is the area, in England, in which I have lived for the past forty eight years and is somewhere that I consider myself to be considerably more knowledgable about than you are, it being that you are from India and now resident in the USA. So, please refrain from referring to 'factual correction' as 'nonesense'!

                                           regards,
                                                   Jimmy the Hoover.
I apologize for the mistake. I am using an automated message, so it says "nonsense" all the time I add it to a suspected vandal's page. I thought your edit was vandalism, but I guess I was wrong. Again, I'm sorry for this. --Nishkid64 21:10, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, either is probably correct. From what I read, literally one part of Billinge is in Wigan and the other is in St. Helens. Also there's this: [[1]], which states he was 'born in Billinge near Wigan...' HalfShadow 21:17, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
O.o. Interesting...--Nishkid64 21:18, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry. It took me a few minutes to find that. And for me, that's slow. Here's the site I looked at: [[2]]. Scroll down to 'Billinge'. Half the place is in one borough and county and the other half in another. HalfShadow 21:25, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nishkid64 -- just a note about this edit. Once a {{prod}} tag has been removed, even by an anon and without an edit summary, it cannot be replaced. Therefore, I converted it to an AfD: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nicole_Bennett. For an explanation, please see WP:PROD#Conflicts. Best, --MCB 22:09, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. I didn't notice it was a prod. I thought it was an AfD, so I hastily reverted the edit. Thanks for letting me know, though. --Nishkid64 22:32, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the message. AfD and PROD do look alike, come to think of it. Best, --MCB 23:02, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Chupacabra

I think I might have messed up somewhere... I left a message on a toolbox right above the spam thing, so yeah sorry about that

Anyways. Regarding the Chupacabra, I believe 'la' chupacabra is the correct way because in the spanish language when a word ends with 'a' it is often given the femenine form (la)

Heh, it's one of those exceptions to Spanish grammatical rules. It is known as "El Chupacabra", which does seem strange, but that's how it's always been. =)--Nishkid64 23:42, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA/N

I'm grateful and flattered for your offer of a RfA nomination. It's something I've been thinking about for a while, actually, and would be happy to accept... however, I need to postpone it until approx. October 17, since I will be largely on a Wikibreak next week due to an out of town houseguest, and my 50th birthday, and would not be around to answer questions much of the time. If that's OK, let me know, and we'll work things out. Best, MCB 23:45, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, sure. I got no problems here. And have a happy 50th birthday! (It's 6 days before mine hehe). --Nishkid64 23:47, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, and happy birthday to you in advance. We'll be in touch next week, and I'll make sure to catch up on my reading on policy and procedure... Best, MCB 00:49, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Closing afd's

HI, I have boldly ventured into closing AfD's. I'm having trouble with formatting Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/George Schuyler/Rewrite What am I doing wrong? Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 01:20, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not trying to discouraging, but usually non-admins can only close AfD discussions that result in a basic unanimous vote for keep. AfD discussions that reach a consensus of delete are usually handled by admins. Just telling you from personal experience, hehe. However, regarding the AfD closing templates. I personally don't use the templates. I just copy and paste the coding from previously closed AfD's (the top and bottom template) and then I add the result of the AfD and my signature. So, if you see AfD's that have accumulated a lot of keep votes versus delete votes (after at least a few days), you can speedy close the AfD nomination, and remove the AfD nom from the article page. --Nishkid64 01:27, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OOOPs! good point. Thanks.Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 01:31, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

'BE Careful NOT TO VIOLATE rules.'

Just a general warning, or did I inadvertently do something wrong? HalfShadow 16:23, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't add the above. User:68.217.168.151 added it to your page for reasons I don't know of. However, I had reverted one of their edits previously, and I guess they were trolling around my talk page and decided to edit your page. --Nishkid64 16:56, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't think you had, since you always sign your posts, but by then I'd already posted and was busy with something else. Reverted page to previous. HalfShadow 17:13, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Block thanks

Thanks for responding to the AIV request and blocking User:Treva135. That was starting to get kinda annoying. Akradecki 18:15, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Just doing my job...*whistles* =) --Nishkid64 18:16, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for finishing what I started. Great job. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 18:18, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am not even close to being finished. I think I added maybe 100-150 tags and I got tired. For some strange reason, it appeared that I was retagging certain people. Like I remembered that I already tagged Academic Challenger, but apparently on the page, it says he's not an admin. It's pretty weird. Anyway, I'll get back to it sooner or later. It will take me a while, since I also frequently do RC patrol, and CSD and AIV business. --Nishkid64 18:21, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Admin tags The way I did it was by going to the Special:Userlist page and starting at that person's name; the list will automatically generate the usergroups to which he belongs, so you don't have to read everyone's userpage. The crappy thing is that some bots are not tagged as such... -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 18:22, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I was doing it by the special page list of admins. --Nishkid64 18:25, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

hi

why did you vote to get my page deleted? i was still working on it.

I'm sorry, but I'm following Wikipedia policy. For an article to be added to Wikipedia, it has to be on a notable subject. You made an article on your own personal book that you were to write, and frankly, that's not notable for article creation on Wikipedia. Thanks. --Nishkid64 20:47, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Eeep

[3], [4]. -- Steel 20:49, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh crap. I usually look over history, but occasionally here and there I miss it. I guess it was one of those times. Sorry about that, but thanks for catching it, Steel. --Nishkid64 20:52, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No big deal, everyone makes mistakes. I just thought it would be best to tell you. -- Steel 20:58, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah thanks for that. I guess I should be more careful around here :-p. I just restored this after I had initially deleted. It was an accidental deletion, as I had like 5 windows open, but your reminder opened my eyes and I was able to note that mistake. So, thanks again. =) --Nishkid64 21:00, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's happened to me before [5]. It's just so easy to see the tag and delete, especially when you're trying to clear out a massive CAT:CSD backlog. -- Steel 21:03, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, I know what you mean. I was on a mad deleting rampage for the last hour or so. According to my deletion logs, I deleted over 90 articles today, most of which occurred in the last hour. --Nishkid64 21:07, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, just one other thing. CSD G4 doesn't apply to recreated speedies. [1]. -- Steel 22:05, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow. I never knew that. I guess that means some of those deletion summaries are misleading. *whistles* --Nishkid64 22:07, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's another mistake I made (though that was before I became an admin). I'm going to clarify the wording on WP:CSD. -- Steel 22:10, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, WP:CSD was pretty clear. Seems the source of the confusion was the Db-repost template. -- Steel 22:17, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks...

... for your speedy action in blocking User:Residuals before he/she could vandalize even more pages. I was about to report him/her to WP:AIV, but you were already on top of it. MastCell 00:34, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just glad I was able to deal with it before it got out of hand. Keep a close eye for other page moves that may be done by Residuals' sockpuppets (or so he claims). --Nishkid64 00:42, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

Hey. Some days ago you blocked User:195.188.214.248 for vandalism. I dont dare to judge if the person is back under a different IP-adress. But for sure user:81.131.96.197 makes very similar edits with personal attacks such as [6] and [7]. Hope you will take a look at it. Bertilvidet 07:55, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the notice. I checked out both IP's contributions and their WHOIS information, and the editor behind both IP addresses appears to be the same person. I have blocked this user for a period of one week. If any of the two IP's vandalize after their respective blocks, please contact me as soon as possible. --Nishkid64 17:07, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. The user seems to be back again as User:81.131.62.13, with i.e. this [8] not very original edit. Bertilvidet 16:38, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. I dealt with one of the users, and Pilotguy dealt with another. It seems to be taken care of...as of right now. Keep posting to WP:AIV if you see this guy again. --Nishkid64 17:20, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Amazing, he seems to back. I posted at Wikipedia:Administrator_intervention_against_vandalism#User.2FIP_reported. I also requested semi-protection for the National Security Council, wonder if I should request the same for my userpage? Thanks for keeping Wiki going! Bertilvidet 17:23, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I just semi-protected the page before I saw this message. You can also request semi-protection against your page as well. I think it would be advised here, since that guy is not putting an end to vandalism. --Nishkid64 17:24, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you again. As the vandalism to my user page is of a very personal insulting character, I do hope that the page can protected even though the vandalism maybe not is extremely heavy. Bertilvidet 17:41, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Back again...see user:81.131.82.136. Even though no clear vandalism yes has been made from this account, it is clearly an evasion of the block. Bertilvidet 17:47, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Has now vandalized my talk page once again [9]. Bertilvidet 17:49, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism by BertilVidet

At the National Security Council page, the above user violates every useful contribution role of wikipedia, including the three revert rule. He does not allow any constructive additions and is obsessed with maintainin a link to his personal essay page that he does not allow anyone else to change. can you take care of him as a vandal? blocking would be a nice fair beginning. Thanks.

Don't blame others when you yourself have been evading blocks and have been vandalizing the page. --Nishkid64 17:27, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks.

Possible new project/group for cleaning Wikipedia

I've recently noticed the need for cleaning up trivia sections in articles. Many TV show episode articles (South Park, Family Guy are two good examples), as well as actors, movies and other thinggs...have very long trivia sections. There is a too much trivia tag and category, but I don't think that's enough. The large articles category is at 265 articles and growing daily it seems. Maybe a project or group of some sort should be created for this. I'm not sure if others are interested in helping or not though. RobJ1981 01:11, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, so you are suggesting a project to clean-up existing trivia suggestions, and try to somehow incorporate into the article pages? --Nishkid64 01:15, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but only if there is enough interest for it. I don't want a project to be started, if no one is willing to help out. RobJ1981 01:22, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I guess you can create a temporary project page on your user namespace, and then go to Wikipedia:WikiProject/List of proposed projects and add your project to the list. I think it's a great idea, though. Trivia takes up too much space in articles, and inserting trivia into articles to make it better-flowing would definitely improve the condition of many articles. Good luck with the proposed WikiProject, and if you have any questions or need help, you know where to find me. (Oh yeah, I will be happy to join the WikiProject) =) --Nishkid64 01:31, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the temporary project page: User:RobJ1981/TriviaCleanUp. I posted on the proposed projects page as well. RobJ1981 01:57, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The project page is updated with the current count of "too much trivia" articles, and it seems to be getting worse. It's almost at 300 now. I try to go trivia each day, and remove what I can... but I'm certainly no expert on all the subjects that have problems. Can you help out? If you know anyone else willing to join, that would help too. RobJ1981 23:53, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll start helping out probably tomorrow. I'll try to advertise the WikiProject in the Community Portal after we make an actual WikiProject page (which we can do in about a week). --Nishkid64 23:59, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I thought the project couldn't have an official page unless there is enough interest? So far, it's only you and I in the project. RobJ1981 00:27, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spider Baby

I might understand deleting Actionfolksinger. I can see where people would think the comic book was was too obscure. What I don't understand is why the addition of the musical version of Spider Baby was taken off the Spider Baby page.

Boffotaco 00:47, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to me that the person who reverted your edits thought it was linkspam or basic advertising. In my point of view, I don't think that addition you made is particularly useful since it's a local musical production, not some big Broadway production. --Nishkid64 00:50, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spider Baby follow up

Now hang on just a second. Just because it was Bakersfield doesn't mean it wasn't a professional production. Also the Jesus Christ Super Star and Jekyll & Hyde soundtracks floated around the ether for years before their broadway debut. The fact is there is a musical out there based on Spider Baby. Why shouldn't the fans of that movie or horror fans get to know about it? Also I didn't know there was another Actionfolksinger article. I found his comic books at a convention. I thought they were funny and also it was featured on another site cataloging international heroes. I figured since it was on that one it should be here too. He certainly isn't the most obscure character on wikipedia. Here's the link.

http://www.internationalhero.co.uk/a/actionfolksinger.htm

Just to clarrify. I'm not attacking. It's just this was my first article and it gets blocked.Boffotaco 08:31, 9 October 2006 (UTC) [reply]

deletion of Quasimoto Interactive

You deleted our note-worthy company. Our competitors and industry equals are still listed. Was this a mistake? Tphanich 04:21, 9 October 2006 (UTC)tphanich[reply]

You had five days to make any significant changes to the page to persuade our decision to delete the article. Apparently, you did not make these changes, and so I deleted the page according to Wikipedia policy. Before I deleted your article, I checked to see if it was linked to other articles, or if it generated a lot of Google hits. It failed both, so I deleted the page. Please do not re-create the page once it has been deleted, as this violates Wikipedia policy. I am deleting this new re-created page as it violates CSD G4. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me. Nishkid64 19:15, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quasimoto Interactive, Inc.

You have not responded on Quasimoto Interactive. You have made hundreds of deletions without discussion. If there are grounds for our speedy deletion, I request that you explain, or undelete the article. If you still feel it was deleted appropriately, I will re-write the article to compliance, or I humbly request a deletion review.

Okay, I see you left me a second message. I just want to clarify some things. I am 16 years old, and I go to high school in the United States. I do not spend my whole life on Wikipedia, so I would appreciate some patience on your part. Second of all, speedy deletion does not require discussion, and neither do Prods. Speedy deletion is used when it's a definite violation of Wikipedia policy, and it can be deleted without discussion. Prod is a proposed deletion, and a message for a prod is placed on an article page. Any user can remove this prod if they believe that the deletion is not warranted by justifying why it is notable, or if they can make major improvements to the article. The prod was placed on the page on October 3, and following procedure, I was supposed to delete the article on October 8 if no one made any significant edits or any justifications to keep the article (on the talk page). Nothing of that nature happened, so I deleted the article according to procedure. Prods are like speedy deletion, but they have to be kept up for a minimum of 5 days before deletion. There is no formal discussion for prods like an AfD or something, but you can remove the prod from the page, and discuss its deletion with the editor who placed the prod in the first place. If you really thought the article was warranted, you should have done that.
For your page, I know that I went to Google, and I looked at "What links here" to see if the topic of your article was notable. I did not see many Google hits, and I only saw the article linked to 3 other articles (2 of which were just bot-generated prod lists). I don't believe it is a matter of compliance, but really a matter of notability. The company is not notable, and therefore an article should not be placed on Wikipedia for the company. I have been participating in AfD's for a long time, and I have seen many company-related articles similar to Quasimoto get deleted. If you still believe the article should not be deleted, feel free to go to deletion review. Thanks, and happy editing. Nishkid64 19:39, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nah, no problem. Persistent history of problems, obviously should have known better. Every admin blocks a little differently, for better or worse, I don't think this one's worth fretting over. Regards, Luna Santin 19:48, 9 October 2006 (UTC) [reply]

Actionfolksinger clarrification

Okay that covers the Spider Baby soundtrack now what about the Actionfolksinger comic book? It's out of print so reviews are out. It's on an internationally recognized comic book resource site but as you said that's only one. If it got talked about on say two more would it then be able to get it's block lifted? Thanks for the help by the way. I promise this will be the last question. Boffotaco 20:15, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think this one is already closed. The Actionfolksinger comic book is mentioned only on that one independent resource site. I don't know if it's a particularly notable site, so I can't help you there. However, just by doing a Google search, I can see that just doing a Google search only yields 504 hits, a very very small amount. Also, the article links to no other articles, which can lead to verifiability issues. I protected the article itself from being re-created because it had already been deleted three times because users kept making the article. Maybe one day if the comic book becomes immensely popular, then I would reconsider. And don't feel like your questions are a burden or something. It's good to get involved and be curious toward the actions of other users. Nishkid64 20:23, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just had to change your status

Your user page and sig are so colorful I just had to make it match! ;) Sorry, revert at will (does look cool tho!) Glen 21:30, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Phew! Hoped you'd see it like that! Hey I just looked at your monobook.js/css and I dont know how you do it! Try this, click here and press the preview button. What do you think? Glen 21:37, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I just realised that without the .js installed that css would look odd (all the links gone!) See here for how it looks for me Note all the new tabs! :) Glen 22:17, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yay!

Glad you like it! Now hit CTRL R for me Glen 23:05, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Umm you actually need the tab script in that file so CTRL R for me now (as Ive put the search and other Glen minimalisations back). If you still dont like, then just copy User:Voice of All/monobook.css to yours and try again Glen 23:20, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think I'm good for now. I removed the css, but kept the monobook and now I got all that I need. (I think). Thanks again. Nishkid64 23:23, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well Id already tried it so ya may as well CTRL R for me (assuming you use Firefox) - can I teach you all the new functions you've got now? Some are just fu@king awesome! You wait! Glen 23:47, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just press CTRL and R together, or if you use IE CTRL-F5 which purges your page cache. Hopefully the wikipedia logo goes along with a few other things, but the search is still there and no colored pages. But, more importantly, your new tabs now work! Ill explain upon your reply (say you aint on IRC at all are you?) Glen 23:55, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I have all the tabs. (I ctrl+R a long time ago). I'll get on IRC. What channel are you on? Nishkid64 00:06, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
oh, sorry my bad! I thought when you said you were happy with the blank css you perhaps didnt know Id fixed it for you. IRC would be awesome, as I can explain all the new functions to you. Could you please elucidate as to how my creating links to the LAME article from instances of the word's appearance in MP3's article is in error? This is not an "experiment", but an improvement to the article.

Sorry about that. I thought it was vandalism at first, but I guess I was mistaken. I will remove the warning on your talk page. Nishkid64 01:50, 10 October 2006 (UTC) [reply]

RfA thanks from StuffOfInterest

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which finished with a tally of 52/6/1 (~90%). It was an interesting process which gave me a chance to learn a bit about myself and about the community. My intention now is to slowly ease into using those additional buttons on my page. No use being over eager and mucking up the works. The support of all those who went over my record and/or rallied to my defense after the big oppose vote was instumental to the success of this review. Again, thank you! --StuffOfInterest 11:56, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As to deletion policy, 1. WP:PROD is clear that PROD can be contested even after the fact, and would then have to be undeleted and sent to AfD. That's what you should have done when faced with a recreation unless speedyable. 2. WP:CSD G4 clearly does not apply to articles deleted on prod - only to articles which were deleted with full AfD consensus. Thx. - CrazyRussian talk/email 02:35, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see CrazyRussian said what needed to be said about the redeletion already. The article is at deletion review should you wish to expalin the basis for deletion there. If it is speediable, we need a speedy basis other than G4. GRBerry 13:16, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion Review

I have submitted to deletion review.

I still feel it was an unjustified deletion. I was never warned to revise the page, not through email or telephone call. Just because something is not listed highly on the Internet does not mean it is not notable. Our company was the first to make arcade games for the home. Our company has patents older than you. It is quite notable I assure you. Our previous web ranking was at 300,000. We have recently changed web servers and our ranking dropped significantly. We are on our way back down. By December, we will be note-worthy again.

There are tons of other companies on Wikipedia that serve no purpose but to advertise themselves.

Let this be the persuasive argument to re-add us into the Wikipedia database.

You keep saying that there are other examples. Where are they? Show me some. There are hundreds of companies added to Wikipedia a day that shouldn't warrant an article, and almost 99% of the time, they are deleted either on the spot, or by prod or AfD. Also, an Alexa ranking of 300,000 is not particularly notable. We have deleted articles about websites that had Alexa rankings as low as 40,000. If you really think your company will be noteworthy in December, then you may come back and check back up on me to see if I and other admins agree on its notability. Otherwise, I believe the company is not notable, and you are just taking advantage of Wikipedia for advertising purposes. Finally, don't keep making references to my age. I may be 16, but that has no relevance to my competence as an admin. I was voted to be an admin based on my maturity, behavior, and helpfullness on Wikipedia. Besides, the number of patents should not really justify a company's article on Wikipedia. Heck, my father has around 15-20 chemical patents himself, but he's not on here. Nishkid64 21:20, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

your age

I agree your age should be irrelevant, however, that was only mentioned, as a derrogatory remark, once. If you are getting very touchy on the subject, maybe you have a problem with it. I do apologize for the remark. If someone said that to me when I was 16 I would be a tad miffed as well.

After reading the deletion reviews I have the option of proving my company's notability, or forgetting about Wikipedia. I once thought it to be a valuable source, arguing with my own college professors, but I see that you cannot communicate clearly through the Internet, thus you have spam, have nonesense, and everything else that can go wrong in a public forum.

The companies that I believe we are as noteworthy are Madcatz and Pelican Accessories.

You let me know if they aren't noteworthy and I'll drop my case against Wikipedia. As the Marketing Director for our company, I find it a disadvantage for us to not be as noteworthy as our competitors. The page I had created was simply to provide information on our company's acheivements and technology that's been created through our engineering efforts.

Furthermore, if your father holds useful patents that have purpose in life, then is he on Wikipedia? Why? Why not? I helped create and maintain the Online Guitar Archive. I don't have an article on Wikipedia either.

You don't understand. You brought up my age as a derogatory comment in the deletion review just because you thought it made a difference in my judgment. I can care less what some person thinks about my age. At the time you added that comment to DRV, I just wanted to know why it was added and what relevance it had, but I guess the problem is solved now, so let's drop the issue.
One of the other reasons why there is no support for keeping the article in the DRV is because you are only using Wikipedia as means of advertising. It seems you just made this account to make that one article, and you yourself said you were the marketing director of the company, and you most probably were trying to advertise your company with this article. Pelican Accessories appeared to be notable at first (from Google and "what links here"), but from taking a look at the Alexa ranking, I started to doubt myself. Their website has an Alexa ranking of around 2,000,000 and I speculate that most of the hundreds of thousands of G-hits I got were probably either done by Googlebombing or just advertisements on websites. I am actually considering putting the article up for AfD. It doesn't seem too notable, but I may be wrong (not much a video gamer nowadays, so I'm not all into this accessories stuff).
Finally, my father does have 15-20 patents that are important to what he does. He is an synthetic chemist at Hoffmann-La Roche, and all of his patents are new potent chemical compounds and molecules that can be used to fight diseases. In fact, one of his compounds is currently in Stage II of FDA drug testing, and may be out in the market in a few years. But he's not on Wikipedia, because he isn't notable. Sure, he's written his share of papers, but he does not have something majorly important as compared to Leo Sternbach, a former HLR chemist who was famous for making the blockbuster pain reliever drug Valium (made billions of dollars annually 20-30 years back). Anyway, I understand that your reasons for wanting to have the article on Wikipedia, and I respect it, but I just don't believe your company is notable in general. Wanton vandalism of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale

Anon ips have been putting propaganda sites as links and vandalizing the article into rubbish. I reverted to the best possible edit. However, the article needs to be sourced and some POV removed. Could you please look into it? Thanks.Hkelkar 01:15, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I will look into it tomorrow. I was just about to go in like 10 minutes, and I will do a proper look-through tomorrow. Thanks for letting me know. Nishkid64 01:23, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The vandalisms still persist (I just reverted another anon). Please get the article protected.Hkelkar 23:51, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

edit reversion for Stoner

I was wondering why exactly you reverted my addition regarding the term "pothead". I realize it may have sounded tacked-on, but I felt that a term as common as "pothead" deserved some kind of representation. After all, the only practical reason the stoner article even exists is to describe its respective slang term. G Rose 04:29, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I only reverted your edit because I thought it wasn't really necessary for the article (which is why I didn't warn you). If you want to add it back, do so in an encyclopedic fashion, so that it won't look like it was just "tacked-on". Thanks. Nishkid64 19:58, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

THANKS!

THANK YOU for so quickly fixing my Linear arithmetic synthesis article on October 8.

Keep up the good work.

sorry

Sorry for that user talk thing a couple days ago. I didn't know it would be considered vandalis and I'm happy you corrected it, I was just trying to help. And nice pages, how did you get it this way? Also, how did you get yourname to be so colorful. Thanks! 71.236.79.160 20:30, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Borrow

Hello, Nishkid! I came across your colurful image and wish to "borrow" and use it on my page. So I thought I should ask first before I use it. Thanks in advance no matter what you say! Randfan 21:23, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, I'm glad you like it. User:Glen S made it for me, so you better check with him first. I would think that he wouldn't mind since he gave it to me. Nishkid64 21:27, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay! Thank you!

Stance On Vandalism.

You state your user page has been 'vandalised many times'. Wouldn't it make sense to just put a protection on it? Realistically, nobody had any real right to do anything to your own page but you. Or would that me misusing an ability or something?--HalfShadow 01:47, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would only really need to protect my page if I was constantly being attacked by vandalism. I am not, so I don't really think I need to protect the page. Anyway, there are bots and other users that can revert it in a snap, so there are no worries. Nishkid64 01:52, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was just wondering, really. You know:'Every question I ask is something learned' and all that.--HalfShadow 01:54, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, well keep wondering. You seem to be doing well so far (I've check out your edits :-P), and this curiosity can only make you improve. Don't feel shy to ask me questions at any time. Nishkid64 01:57, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Got a scanner last week. That along with my absolute unwillingness to throw away anything of potential value will probably be quite useful here. I have stuff I don't even know I have...--HalfShadow 01:59, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Business and Economics

Hey, how ya doing? Your doing a great job with the daily stock reports on the B&E portal. Id give you a barnstar, but i dunno how to use photoshop, my bad. One question tho-isnt it worth putting on the News in the Business and economic portal that the DJIA surpassed its record close (i forgot when and what the close was, but i think you know what i mean, if not then go here DJIA)? Good job becoming a leader in B&E!!! Xlegiofalco 07:29, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I was considering it, but two things made me reconsider. First of all, there was no article for the news item on WikiNews. Second of all, the DJIA reached its all-time high a few times already this week. There's no point in constantly adding news items about the average reaching its all-time high. Also, you don't use photoshop to make a barnstar. Most barnstars are already custom-made and all you have to do is put in the template. See WP:Barnstars for more. Nishkid64 19:59, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I came across the article some time ago and I must tell you that I was disgusted. I however tried to stay away as I was in the middle of other really hot edit wars on the subject of Khalistan. However, user:Hkelkar's edits have changed the tone of the article to a great extent and it is a lot closer to reality now. All we need is a few references. I will try to add a few. One particular item I would love to see a citation on is the sectionBhindranwale#early_life (the BBC stuff). I know I read it somewhere, I can't remember where. The article seems to be in sane hands for now so I don't see the need for a protection. But we will have to keep watching as I see an edit war in the making. Cheers! Anti-vandalism?

I just noticed you reverting some vandalism in Penicillin extremely fast, and wonder if there is some automated way to catch that stuff. I just look at the Recent Changes file occasionally and apply some rules of thumb, but I'm sure there must be something better. EdJohnston 20:07, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I used to use VandalProof, AmiDaniel's client that shows recent changes and has buttons to quickly revert edits. At the moment, I am using Lupin's Anti-vandal tool which has proved to be very effective in catching the usual types of vandalism (it searches certain words such as expletives and deragotory comments). It works amazingly well and I'm able to revert many pages in short time. Nishkid64 20:12, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Test5-n

Hi, As the instigator of the test5 change, I've just added a response to your question on User talk:Voice of All page. I'm off to bed in a wee bit, but wouldn't mind if we can look to get a common approach on all of the level 5 warnings. Cheers Khukri (talk . contribs) 23:22, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
