Erm...it took you 22 days to notice that I gave you a warning for posting nonsense on a Wikipedia article? O.o I'm so scared. What are you going to do? Spam my user talk page? hahaha... --Nishkid64 21:24, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

Thanks so much for your kind words. I really appreciate them, as well as the barnstar.

Sorry about stealing your edits! I'm sure I'm not diminishing your abilities to help out the project, though. I've noticed you reporting a lot of vandals, so thanks for that on behalf of us other RC patrollers.

File:Scarlettanager99.jpg Hello, Nishkid, and thank you for the support on my recent RfA. The final tally was 72/1/0, and I have now been entrusted with the mop. I'll be tentative with the new buttons for a while, and certainly welcome any and all feedback on how I might be able to use them to help the project. All the best, and thanks again! — Deville (Talk) 03:17, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Important

Why did you change my additions that I added to the article on Venice. They were nothing but facts. WEENER!

It wasn't me. Look at the article history. I didn't even make any edits to the page. I was going to revert your spam, but Dina beat me out. Besides...you were just blanking pages and adding random nonsense. Those are not called facts. --Nishkid64 15:39, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism?

i was just reported for Vandalism on the Dream page for adding after the Torah (Known as the Old Testament in Christianity.) You might disagree with its place in the article but i think its fair.

The Torah is the same as the Old Testament? That's news to me. (I'm not Christian or Jewish) I thought you were vandalizing. Sorry about that! I'll remove the warning asap. --Nishkid64 00:18, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, and it was partially my mistake, the Torah is onle the first 5 books of the Christian Old Testament

RFA thanks

Thanks so much for your support on my RFA, which closed successfully this morning with a result of (64/3/3). I will be stepping lightly at first trying to make sure I don't mess up too badly using the tools. Any further advice/guidance will be gratefully accepted. I hope I will live up to your trust! Thanks for the welcome

Hi Nishkid64,

Thanks for the welcome to an anonymous user.. made me feel welcome. I'm actually quite familiar with Wikipedia, although I've been out of the loop for a while. Forgot the password to my named account (User:Kander) and no longer have access to the associated mail address, so I figured I'd go anonymous until I remember the password again :/. BTW: Your instructions on my talk page mention signing with tildes... is that recommended also when working anonymously?

Victor Willis Edit

Hi, I just attempted to enter a correction and somehow I mistakenly removed that very nice box. I did not intend to. Please accept my apology. Hopefully it can be fixed right away. Thanks. Victor is listed as a "dancer" he is not a dancer. I also attempted to add his additional occupation as "actor," because he's a former Broadway star. I would never vandalize anyone else's contribution. Again, please accept my apology. Thanks,

What's so bad about it is that it needs this amount of text:

Compared to a normal signature:

Tyrenius

This is unnecessary server and download time, and makes it harder for other users to read through the edit box. Isn't that a bit inconsiderate?

If you want to be on the safe side, I guess you could raise the matter on WP:AN. Then if you get a consensus, you'll be rock solid. Tyrenius 16:08, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Passing" the Google Test

Please actually read Wikipedia:Google Test. It explains at length why one cannot say that something "passes" the Google Test without qualification. Counting Google hits is not research. Research involves actually reading the web pages that Google locates. A Google search is a research tool, not a measuring device. So don't count hits; cite sources. regarding article and warning

Perhaps I should've explained it the first time, but I was NOT trying to vandalize by adding a notiability tag to that article (and personally I fail to see why adding a notability tag to an article about a rather insignificant and obscure character from a game is considered vandalism anyway). Anyway, as implied above I feel the article does not merit encyclpedic merit. The only thing I want to say is that I think it was extremely rude of you to warn me like that, especially since I'm an unregistered user with little powers to reply in kind other than to type this message - which goes to show the elitism this place tends to have 24.9.10.235 02:12, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

adding references and critique of subject through talk

Where do you cite references. Often I use Science articles cause I have every issue since 1983. Is there any copywrite issues? Also when one is not happy with the balance of a subject or a lacking of information ,how do you best address it? Should I post criticisms in talk and if so where do you put comments? It all can be quite confusing, also I am having some vision problems right now. Oh yeah, It will take me a while to figure it all out, so please be patient. I just saw comments on my talk that I hadn't noticed. Thanks for any help. I'll find time to read more info as soon as I can. I like the idea of Wiki, but it also scares me that misinformation could be posted. I see you are addressing my concerns. GetAgrippa

Hi, GetAgrippa! I appreciate you taking the time to figure out everything on Wikipedia before editing. Usually, an article has a section called "References" or "Sources" at the bottom. When you add some information (like here), specifically to science articles, you usually need to cite a source from a book or the internet. Although I think using a book source is the best reference, an internet source is used most predominantly. Please let me know what are these science articles that you're referring to. Also, read WP:Citing sources, which can help you when you're trying to add material to an article page. Remember not to copy word for word, but to paraphrase or re-write the information using the general ideas of the source. I personally can't answer your copyright issues question, but read WP:COPYRIGHT to get an idea about your problem's solution.
Okay, to answer your second question, I just want to tell you that you should always discuss on the talk page. If you feel that the article is not up to par, then you should post messages on the article's talk page telling what you personally think is the problem and what should be done. When doing this, make a new section heading like "==Problem with article== " and then address your problem with the article and then sign the article with ~~~~, which automatically puts down your signature and time of edit. If you feel an article is lacking information, I suggest you use sources (like the internet or a book) and then add the information to the page and then add a reference so people will know where that information you added came from.
On a talk page, you post all new topic comments on the bottom of the page , not at the top or middle (as you did here). Feel free to speak your mind and honestly tell other users what your issue is. People will always be willing to listen and discuss with you.
Also, there usually is a orange message box at the top of your screen that says "you have a new message" any time someone posts a message on your user talk page. Be sure to read the message and reply back (if needed) as soon as possible.
Heh, I totally understand how the fact that anyone can edit Wikipedia is pretty scary. But, you have to deal with it. That's why there are lot of people, like myself, who spend their time fighting vandals on Wikipedia, by reverting their edits and to make Wikipedia safe from people who just want to ruin this trusted and top-notch Internet encyclopedia.
Okay, well I hope I answered your questions. If you are confused about anything I said above or have more questions, feel free to contact me on my user talk page.
Also, whenever your posting on a user talk page or an article talk page, sign your comment with ~~~~. You don't have to manually type out your name every time you edit.
Happy editing!

Regarding Oro-Con

Hi, the user re-made Oro-Con and I tagged it for speedy deletion since he remade an article that was previously deleted.

He says he got permission from the company's website, but I said that the company is non-notable so it doesn't warrant an article on Wikipedia.

I just wanted to let you know, and to see if I did the right thing.

EDIT: I removed the speedy deletion tag after reading the user talk page and the article's talk page. It's not a notable company. EDIT2: Article just got deleted.

Response

Like you said, I should've made it clear as to my reasons why (I did so with some of the articles I tagged, and I didn't tag all the C&C character articles so I thought it might be more obvious that I'm not just trying to vandalize), and I should also point out that I was trying to use a VFD tag but the notability was really the closest I could find. I'm sorry for any confusion I caused. 24.9.10.235 03:43, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Format of citations

I am having a difficult time figuring the format for citations. Here are some of my post in the cancer heading and the references. Perhaps you could show me one. Do you place references at the end and it format correctly and inserts appropriately? Most have multiple authors how do you address in text? GetAgrippa 11:46, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Warburg effect is the preferential use of glycolyisis for energy to sustain cancer growth. p53 has been shown to regulate the shift from the respiratory to the glycolytic pathway. Synthesis of Cytochrome c Oxidase 2 (SCO2) has been recognized as the downstream mediator of this effect. SCO2 is critical for regulating the cytochrome c oxidase complex within the mitochondria, and p53 can disprutpt the SCO2 gene. P53 regulation of SCO2 and mitochondrial respiration may provide a possible explanation for the Warburg effect. Knudson’s two hit model has recently been challenged by several investigators. Inactivation of one allele of some tumor suppressor genes is sufficient to cause tumors in tumor suppressor genes This phenomena is called haploinsufficiency and has been demonstrated by a number of experimental approaches. Tumors caused by haploinsufficiency usually have a later age of onset when compared with those by a two hit process. Fodde R, Smits R. Cancer biology. The main viruses associated with human cancers are human papillomavirus, hepatitis B virus, Epstein-Barr virus, and human T-lymphotropic virus. Experimental and epidemiologic data imply a causative role for viruses and they appear to be the second most important risk factor for cancer development in humans, exceeded only by tobacco usage.zur Hausen H. Okay, to show you an example of how to use references, see the article I made called Gardasil. Right here you can see a reference:
Gardasil also may be used in preventing HPV 16/18-caused anal cancer.[1]
If you click that subscript 1, that will link down to References and if you click 1 on References you will get the source of the previous text. Now you may ask how I did that reference. Here:

The ref name can be whatever you really want to title it (has to make a bit of sense though). Then you add the URL and then space and add the title of the article which will carry down over to the Reference section of the article. You then add "]," and add authors and website. Then you add the date it was created, and then date it was accessed. Then you close the reference by doing </ref>.
Then at the bottom of an article, if a reference section has not already been made, you just add ==Reference== and under that you write <references/>.

That's how I do URL. There's an easier way to do it, in which you don't have to worry about all this reference stuff. After the section of information you added, just add [link of article], and then you're set. This is probably much easier, but I just wanted to tell you because some articles have lots of lots of sources in the reference form, and it's usually best to follow that format.
An example of another way to reference (just like I showed from Gardasil above) can be seen here:
A billion articles is a thousand million<ref name="million">{{

My response to AfD for Pierre Fitch - thanks and how to?

Thanks for your note. I was afraid that would be the case. How does one measure such a thing? I am certainly no expert, and have mistakenly voted to Keep such articles before. Unless compelling evidence arises, I expect to change my vote. Cheers,  :) Dlohcierekim 15:13, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, usually there's no "way" to measure Google tests. That's why you can't say "pass Google test" or "fail Google test". You can cite the number of relevant hits and type of hits you get as your basis for your decision, but usually if I say something like "50,000 hits", I like to add some other stuff like "Fail WP:CORP or "Pass WP:MUSIC". Basically, I'm saying that you really can't use only the Google test as the basis of your decision. --Nishkid64 15:27, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On, no. How do you measure notability for a gay porn star? Cheers,  :) Dlohcierekim 15:44, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh. Ummm...for gay porn stars...you use the criteria from WP:PORNBIO. --Nishkid64 15:51, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rhonda Galbally AFD

I don't think there's any chance this will be deleted, but I see no harm in letting it run the full five days. It's not a bad-faith nomination, just wrong. Thanks for the note, NawlinWiki 15:19, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding AfDs: users who are not administrators are welcome to close KEEP decisions on AFD when there is little to no controversy. However, you should let it run for the full time. Only close a keep early if you are the nominator and you are making a withdrawl. Hope that sheds a bit more light on what you should/shouldn't do on AfDs. Happy editing to you! Dodgers or Angels?

I'm confused? I don't think I edited the LA dodgers color template? Unless you mean the LA Angels; in that case I did. They don't really use blue in their uniforms anymore--it's either gray and red or white and red, hence the change. It's always up for discussion--I just figured that most of the players on the Angels didn't have the template to begin with in use so I decided to mix it up.

Am I to be helped?

The whole reson I did it is to show the double standard that is being played out. Clary is more notable than all those guys put together but that is really a side issue. If you go through the user talk you will see that I am actually BEGGING for help because this guy stalks me along with Tilman. But who on wiki cares? I try mediation, ask for help, spend about 3 hours posting on the JLC talk about it (only just last night let alone all the other times), but not one person is concerned.

It seems if I do anything on Wiki it must be approved by these guys first. It is like a Wiki mafia. They are anti Christian and anti cult (that is their occupation i.e. they are really cult busters - if you go through their post look at bios etc). Sorry if I am way out of line but I feel like I am at my wits end. This guy purposely slanders me and stalks me! I end up explaining myself to people like you all the time on this one issue because he makes rash statments like "he is fudging the figures in the deletion page" or "Nick never contacted me for mediation and is doing it all wrong" when in fact I had. When I defend myself I include that he is stalking me and post the evidence and usually get a reply like you have posted to me.

So I figured if Wiki people don't really care about it I stalk him back and go through each site as he does to me issuing for deletion, putting up tags about 1 minute after he posts claiming that it is unsourced etc. Obviously I know that this is wrong and unethical, but how else can I get anyones attention to get this guy off my back? I have tryed mediation etc, and on the JLC article I did it all according to admin advice but, noo, Feldspar puts a deletion noticle on it and accuses me of foul play. Sorry if I am a bit emotional but to save me typing this out (for about the 20th time) please read through the posts and actually read the arguments I put on the page.

Nick. Potters house 23:13, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I did read your talk page, and I know perfectly well what is going on. I even voted to keep the article because it passed WP:BIO and generated nearly 200,000 hits.
However, I'm still disappointed that you did not show the kind of civility and patience on the AfD page for Johnny Lee Clary or when you made AfD on Tilman Hausherr. For example, you immediately took out your anger on Feldspar and OhConfucious just because they did not support your views. You attacked people thinking they were neo-nazis or something. You also asked friends (i'm assuming you did) to join Wikipedia and vote to keep the article. If you read the guidelines, you'd know that AfD pages are discussions, not really votes. This is utterly disgraceful.
I know some of those people may have deleted the article because it may have racially offended their views (I'm not sure who or even if they did it for that reason), but nonetheless, the AfD will probably (as of right now) end up as a keep. I know that AfD's will constantly be brought up upon the article, and I ask you to please remain neutral, calm and peaceful with other Wikipedians.
As for the AfD's you made on Tilman Hausherr and other people, that is totally unacceptable. You did not prove valid reasons as to why you did not think they were notable. You just vented out your frustration of the JLC AfD on these other articles without considering the Wikipedia guidelines.
Trust me. There were much better ways in which you could have handled this situation.
You could have gone to Admin Intervention or Admin Noticeboard and requested help from administrators regarding people who were trying to sabotage your work.
I hope that after this AfD, you will try to defend your arguments in the future regarding JLC, in a calm, civilized manner. Being courteous and polite goes a long way in Wikipedia. An example can be seen here: Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Kpjas. At first, I was among many people who opposed Kpjas's RfA. If you go to my User talk:Nishkid64/Archive 2 (first message), you can see a fellow Wikipedia user (and administrator) kindly asked me to reconsider my opinion on Kpjas. I ended up changing my vote to Support, as did a dozen other people. This also applies to you. If you show decency and equality amongst your Wikipedia peers, you can definitely gain their support when you need it the most.
Hope you will think about what I said above.
P.S. I'd also appreciate it if you could keep religious views private for a while. It seems that they have been quite controversial here. However, remember to act in a civilized manner. Take a look at me...Christians took over India during the Victorian era and basically treated us like crap. Our people still feel the troubling effects of the British rule, but do you see me going all crazy on people like you? Nope.

I'd like to thank you Nishkid64 for either supporting, opposing, commenting, nominating, reading, editing, promoting and/or anything else that you may have done for my successful request for adminship (I've broken the one thousand sysop barrier!); I'm thanking you for getting involved, and for this I am very grateful. I hope to be able to serve Wikipedia more effectively with my new tools and that we can continue to build our free encyclopedia, for knowledge is power, but only wisdom is liberty. Please do feel free to get in touch if you feel you can improve me in any way; I will be glad to listen to all comments. Again, thanks 8)             —Xyrael / 12:01, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am new to wikipedia but I am aware of talkpages. I think unless a clean-up tag is explained on the talkpage in detail on what needs to be clean-uped than it should be removed. I looked through the history and a IP added them without an edit summary or anything. If the tags have no clear reason for being there then they should be removed. -84.169.231.181 18:11, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I thought the bot was adding the tag. I didn't know an IP added the tag. My apologies! Warning will be removed. --Nishkid64 18:15, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Its okay. I'm sorry for not leaving a message on the talkpage first. -84.169.231.181 18:17, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IP Warnings

Didn't seem much point in creating an archive page, there wasn't much there, the warnings can be seen in history. The last warning for vandalism was months ago. The last edit other than to the talk page was 1 September (which received no warning but should have done), prior to that 4 July and then only one edit... If the IP gets used for more vandalism issue more warnings, I just don't see the old warnings as relevant. --pgk 18:14, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I realized that he hadn't vandalized in a while until after I posted on your user talk page. Well, I understand now. Thanks. --Nishkid64 18:16, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Nikki French

Hey - People keep changing the page and removing links etc, that i have added i was simply returning the page to how it was before people started vadalizing the article

Are you able to revert the page back to the edit which i done - This has always been the original article before people started changing and deleting information on the page Thanks 81.129.194.143 21:08, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The edit on holocaust cruelty

I would please like to point out that the person who did that was not me, and a school friend who relentlessly mocks me. I informed her of the article and she said she was gonna put it on

Ahadland 22:40, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Huh? What are you talking about?
I warned the user after you because they made those edits. Are you trying to say that it was your friend who made those edits?
--Nishkid64 22:57, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thats exactly what I'm trying to say. Lets apply logic to the situation, does it make any sense for me to vandalise my own article?
You're missing something here. I did not say you vandalized the page. I warned the IP address who edited the page after you and added all the "gay" stuff. Why do you keep thinking I'm accusing you of vandalism? --Nishkid64 23:10, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Long-Overdue RfA Thanks from Alphachimp

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which was successful with a an overwhelmingly flattering and deeply humbling total of 138/2/2 (putting me #10 on the RfA WP:100). I guess infinite monkey theorem has been officially proven. Chimps really can get somewhere on Wikipedia.

With new buttons come great responsibility, and I'll try my best to live up to your expectations. If you need assistance with something, don't hesitate to swing by my talk page or email me (trust me, I do respond :)). The same goes for any complaints or comments in regard to my administrative actions. Remember, I'm here for you.

(Thanks go to Blnguyen for the incredible photo to the right.) alphaChimp laudare 01:15, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
