Good call on closing this RfA early - it really does look like sockpuppetry, doesn't it? Personally I hate closing RfAs early because it means that either someone was really misguided in their application; was taken for a ride by a really abusive vandal or is such an abusive vandal wanting to waste everyone's time and patience. Still, if being an admin was easy then every editor would have the tools! Regards, (aeropagitica) 23:00, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request for protection of Human

Hi there, I requested semi-protection of human and you commented that the level of vandalism was not high enough. I'm not sure what the level is, but there were 7 vandalism edits yesterday, and 7 so far today. It is becoming difficult to edit this page due to the constant reverting. What level of vandalism does semi-protection cover? TimVickers 04:56, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alexander Litvinenko history and talk page

I was bold moved the Alexander Litvinenko to Alexander Litvinenko poisoning keeping the history. Most of the content and the related history is about ta poisoning. You have restored/moved the history, that is ok with me.

There is still the question of the talk page. It is now at Talk:Alexander Litvinenko poisoning. I think it should remain there; all talk is about the (suspected) assassination. The archives are at Talk:Alexander Litvinenko. This is good. -- Petri Krohn 02:41, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please take a look at user 83.236.12.38 changes on Litvinenko page? I think he is trying to destroy everything. Biophys 20:12, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! That was not a good faith effort. One can see what exactly they have removed from different chapters. The article about Litvinnko is good right now. I am affraid that Litvinenko articles will be increasingly an object of partisan attacks, so it might be neccessary to lock them up soon. But that is up to Wikipedia administrators. I hope you are watching. Biophys 21:11, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are you monitoring Francesco Patrizi?

I think there a bit conclusive proofs that Patrizi was Italian (In the talk page there I've resumed the source cited by one of the editors in favour of the Italian theory). It looks that from 1927 onwards Croatians sistematically started to Croatize his name to aggregate him to their culture, a claim basing on his birthplace probably, but this sounds strange 'cause they had even to translate from Italian ALL his works. I'm not into the matter, and I'm not nationalist at all; however the matter seems clear. Anyway, I've started a poll there to set the matter. Let me know and good work. --Attilios 20:52, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re:King Shadzar

In regards to your response on AN/I, isn't this many sockpuppets (and at the rate he's creating them) worth an IP block (or at least disabling his ability to make new accounts)? Or is there something that's preventing this from happening (for example, he's on a dynampic IP)? NeoChaosX (he shoots, he scores!) 21:25, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The IP address acount User:209.77.222.37 was found vandalizing again. Is there anything you (or me/I) can do about it? Sharkface217 22:21, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're quite welcome. I forgot the template, as I'm running through the new pages like crazy right now fighting vandals. If I could, I'd raise that WikiDefcon thing to 2. We're having a busy afternoon. Sharkface217 22:25, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your block

You have been blocked for 31 hours for edit warring with multiple users on a number of articles. Consider this your warning. I have fully protected the pages in contention, and you will not be able to edit them until you agree with Factinista and Giovanni Giove on how the content of these articles should be written. Nishkid64 19:50, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

I would advice you to contact Giovanni Giove to get from him it confirmed that I was in edit warring with him. I do not like to see false accusations on my talk pages.
Also, I have nothing to agree with Factanista. Fighting to remove falsificates from the Wikipedia articles is an honest work and it is in full accordance with the basic editorial policy of any serious publisher. Please, avoid throwing false accusation and do not interfere into edits you are not familiar with - nor you are able (or willing) to understand. I am going to present this case to the higher level of the Wikipedia administration in order to be protected against baseless accusations and abuse of the aministrator's rights--GiorgioOrsini 00:15, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You are no authority on this matter in any respect. If you see another user reverting your edits, discuss the issue with the user in a civilized manner. I also would appreciate it if you would not make accusations of your own ("are not familiar with - nor you are able (or willing) to understand"). What I did was not baseless by no means, as I was just executing Wikipedia policy. All three users violated 3RR multiple times, and I dealt a punishment, accordingly. Nishkid64 00:25, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hallo there!.... I thought that I did one revert on Francesco Patrizi article, and two reverts on Giovanni Lupis. Maybe I've not understood something. May you explain me?--Giovanni Giove 17:17, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nishkid64, I'm not sure who you're targeting with semiprotection at The Coventry Blue Coat Church of England School. Swarvellous dude (talk · contribs) clearly has some difficulties with the idea of verifiability but he's been around way more than three days. Great work!

I just wanted to tell you that I am glad you have recently become an administrator. Despite your age, you are doing a fantastic job! protection

Hi Nishkid64! I am Mumun. I noticed that you have been dealing with repeated vandalism at Bodington Hall. One of the same vandals also is repeatedly vandalizing the Regina, Saskatchewan article. The IPs are 130.88.79.70, 130.88.77.46, 130.88.160.68 and others. I put in a formal request for protection and I left a message on the vandal's talk page. However, not sure I am going about this in the right way. PLease help. Mumun 13:33, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin crap

Hey Nish, noticed that Seadog left a message here and you gave him some good advice so I'll bite. I'm sure you've noticed that I've failed 2 RfAs already. I'm not going to try again until I know I'm good & ready, but I was just wondering what you thought I could do to improve. I always see you around making helpful edits and it's frankly appalling to me that your RfA had so many opposes. Mike (Talk) 21:15, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your very helpful reply, I'll be sure to keep it handy for myself to see what I can improve on. As you said, I think that April sounds like a good time. I admittedly rushed it on the second nom, tho I think it was the first, premature nom that killed me. It seems that "over eagerness" is what the majority of the opposes were based upon. BTW, thanks for letting me know about Michael J. Fox getting to GA! I wasn't even aware. I guess that if I can't put an FA on my resume, I can at least say I've contributed to several GAs.
As for my 5 edit/article average, I think this has more to do with the type of editor I am as compared to most others. I participate in several collaborations, and when I'm not doing that I generally try to focus my attention on improving/ cleaning up a few particular articles rather than patrolling recent changes and the like (though I do occasionally).
For the vandal stuff: I hear you, I'll definitely try to improve. I've never been particulary fond of chasing vandals because I think that my time is better spent improving articles rather than stopping people from defacing them. When I see vandalism on a page I revert it, but I'm usually not inclined to report anybody to AIV (in fact I don't think I ever have) unless I absolutely have to. Mike (Talk) 23:09, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I see what you mean. I wish I didn't enter that first RfA though. If I didn't I have a good feeling I'd be an admin now. Mike (Talk) 00:29, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving

You're all set up. Looks like you don't need an archiving at the moment, so keep an eye on it for the next couple days and make sure it doesn't make any mistakes. Also, you may want to remove the Werdnabot call tag as you could end up with both doing it at the same time. Should you need to update any information in the archiving, please leave me a message on my talk page. Essjay (Talk) 01:57, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Continued problems with TJ Spyke

He hasn't assumed good faith and has done personal attacks against me: Talk:WWE New Year's Revolution and here: Talk:WWE Armageddon. After posting a AFG1 template on his talk page, he removed it. I've re-added the template, along with a no personal attacks template. I'm not sure what else to do at this point. There was a note about him on WP:AN before but it didn't seem to solve much. He controls articles, and attacks people. This is getting very tiresome. His latest page he controls: WWE Armageddon, the match order doesn't make a big deal... but he reverts any and every edit he hates (dispite there being a talk page discussion about it, which isn't settled). RobJ1981 04:37, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should try WP:AN or WP:AN/I again, and see what happens. This ongoing problem needs to be dealt with, and be known to others. RobJ1981 22:22, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The previous post was just me agreeing with you. I just created a note on WP:AN/I about him. I wrote a bit, so hopefully that helps others in the right direction... then this matter can be fixed somehow. --RobJ1981 22:40, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
He's it again: Wikipedia_talk:Sock_puppetry#What_if_two_people_use_the_same_computer. TJ saying someone has a vendetta against him. He is obviously in reference to me. I would post the bad faith warning, but I'm not sure if it will even do any good. As of now, there has only been one response to the AN/I section I made on TJ. I was going to say...

...if you take a look at Allegations of Israeli Apartheid you'd know what a real edit war looked like, but it turns out you were the guy who put that on lock down last time. So you should be aware that most of us working on Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid are veterans of that other article, and are quite used to simmering edit conflicts over a clause here and there. Sunderland...

Hi - just stumbled upon Sheogarath (talk · contribs) - seems to be another "Star of the North"/"Molag Bal" sock (actuallay, that's pretty certain, as both Molag Bal and Sheogarath are charcters from the same game). The talk page design may remind you of someone else's in the past! What alerted me firstly was his first edit to his user page, where you were mentioned - [1]. I thought I'd better inform you, and also I'm wondering where we go from here - a block, WP:ANI or give him a chance (though I don't doubt the PAs and vandalism will soon reoccur)? Thanks, Martinp23 22:20, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you that we leave him until things start to go wrong (and we can go on a sock-bashing campaign!). Although, I'm sure he'll behave himself this time (!). Thanks Martinp23 22:44, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes that's me I'll admit. I've read the policy and DON'T plan to vandalise wikipedia. I'm actually doing the opposite. I'm contributing to Wikipedia, and cracking down on vandalism, Don't worry. If I were to vandalise, You have all the evidence you need here, please don't block me, give me another chance. By the way, the creating page with you thing, was experimenting with userboxes, I copied some off your page which I fitted into. One more thing, star of the north wasn't a vandal account, and another, you're really paying attention to the elder scrolls games aren't you, knowing all the names of the characters? Sheogarath 16:39, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Haha - about the games - it wasn't the first thingf I noticed, but the resemblance suddenly struck me as I typed "Molag Bal" above. Martinp23 19:10, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah - hopefully we won;t have a similar problem again, though the community has clearly rejected a welcoming bot in the past, so hopefully it won't be put to another purpose when/if the BRFA is declined. I think it's just another list of contribs to keep an eye on - remembering that if the bots starts doing a harmless task without approval, it can still be blocked anyway. I just really hope that I'm not taking WP:AGF too far here! We can only hope! Martinp23 21:20, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcomebot

I just noticed the creation of User:Welcomebot.... perhaps you should bring this up on the Village Pump? Over the years there have been many proposals for such a bot, but many people believe that it's important for there to be a real person behind every welcome message. Personally, I don't have a strong opinion about it, but I wanted to warn you that you may be opening a can of worms here. FreplySpang 16:20, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm creating the welcomebot, I'm going to appeal it. Welcomebot 16:25, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

By "appeal", I assume you mean "file a request at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval" ? FreplySpang 19:14, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the confusion - When he originally created the user page for this bot, Sheogarath was being silly and claimed the bot was yours: [3]. I fell for it. :-S FreplySpang 02:00, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm glad I'm not the one keeping track of all those puppetty details... sounds like you have a good understanding of the situation. FreplySpang 02:07, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thoughts?

Can I get your opinion on how I handled a situation? On AIV, there was this [4], which was removed here [5], re-reported here [6], which I then removed [7] as I saw the first removal by Sam. A Talk page discussion then ensued here and here. -- Gogo Dodo 00:22, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback. =) I'm slowly getting the hang of things. I get the CSD thing, but the AIV stuff is still a work in progress. Still not quite used to working on it from the other side. =) -- Gogo Dodo 00:34, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Doppleganger Account For Protection

I just noticed User:MER-C has doppleganger accounts made to protect him from impersonating vandals. That made me realize perhaps I should make one for my name: Warthogdemon (D not capitalized.) Unless Bug 2290 doesn't already prevent that from happening, I just have an odd question password-wise. 3RR violation

Thank you for your concern with my RfA. For what it's worth, my 3RR violation was accidental; I was dealing with a user who was persistently reverting to the same text, and had been blocked before. Chicken noodle soup, soda on the side

Hey Nish. What's up with DJ_Webstar? Your AfD result was keep but the page is deleted and blocked from recreation. The song and esp. the dance are wildly popular here in NYC. I think the artist or least the song ("Chicken Noodle Soup") would satisfy the notability requirements. Would a deletion review be apropos? Cheers. L0b0t 21:36, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Nish, you rock. The deletion of that page and its ancillary articles devolved from personal attacks on the talk pages into vandalism of user pages and accusations of racism. While I am usually of the exclusionist persuasion, especially with post 1985 pop culture, it seems that a charting artist that has spawned a cultural meme such as this dance is notable enough for inclusion. Plus it has the added benefit of countering systemic bias. Cheers. L0b0t 00:05, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
