Just wanted to let you know that Howard Loring is a copyright violation of http://www.precognitionpress.com/aboutus.html and thus cannot be allowed to stand without either being completely re-written or with the copyright arrangements outlined at WP:COPYVIO. I advise addressing this issue as quickly as you can. If you have any questions or problems, feel free to leave me a note. (I should say that the article in question appears to not meet the general notability guideline or WP:AUTHOR but I assume you have plans to deal with that.) I am a big fan of Howard Loring and am trying to create this page. I think the information I have posted is freely available and was just wanting to post it so others could be aware of his work. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help. My email is: m.stokes@ieee.org -Mark Stokes

There are two problems. One is that the material is a duplicate of material found at http://www.precognitionpress.com/aboutus.html and thus cannot be allowed to stay without either a copyright release or the material being completely re-written. Two, and the most crucial, is that the essential elements of any Wikipedia article are notability, reliable sources and verifiability, and these three things do not seem to be present in the article as it stands. At present what is most required is the verifiable opinions of arm's-length third-party expert sources -- not usually written in blogs or forums, but in things like newspapers and magazines -- that say that Mr. Loring is somehow notable. I'd hurry to provide those, if they exist, because the tag you've applied will not protect the article for very much longer. I advise you also to follow the links I've provided in this paragraph to find out the precise meanings of the words I've used. Ubelowme U Me 01:55, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As for permission from precognition press, I have verbal permission. How/what do I need to provide as proof of this?

As for references, I have added goodreads and am about to add Amazon. Both have user comments and reviews on the material.

Re permissions: Go to this page and use that as a guide. I'm not experienced enough to take you through it, I'm sorry, but you can have help by asking for it. Just type the word "help" within double curly brackets or ask any administrator.)
Re references: Look at this policy on this page. It will tell you the kinds of material that qualify as useful references. Neither of the ones you've suggested are useful because the material is not written by arm's-length, third-party experts but are in places where material can be contributed by anyone (like Wikipedia, which is also not a reliable source according to its own policies. Specifically you should look at the policy here and see if you can meet any single one of its qualifications. If you can meet even one, your work is done and all you have to do is document it. I didn't see anything in a brief Google search, but you possibly have access to material and information that is not available to me.
I'm keeping an eye on this page so if you have any questions, just leave them for me here. It may take a while and I may pass you on, but almost anyone here will be happy to help you if you ask them. Ubelowme U Me 04:17, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Howard Loring requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
