S after italics[edit]

Miniapolis – I know there is a template in which an apostrophe is enclosed in curly brackets after a word in italics (is that to be used only when the word is linked, or any time?), but is there a similar template for when an "s" (to make the word plural) follows a word that is in italics? In the case where an italicized word is linked to a WP article, should the "s" be italicized or not? If there is a page that explains all this, can you direct me to it? Thanks.  – Corinne (talk) 00:13, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

{{'s}} may be helpful, not only for wikilinks; the reason for the tag, I think, is to make the wiki markup realize that two of the apostrophes are for italics and the third is possessive (so much for artificial intelligence :-)). For a wikilinked plural like horses, horses works (horses' for possessive plural; the final apostrophe is separate from the wikilink and italics). Hope your weather's not too bad; it's very cold here, but supposed to begin to moderate tomorrow. Happy New Year and all the best, Miniapolis 00:31, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I just finished copy-editing SMS Hannover, and the thing that puzzled me was this, which appears in the first paragraph in the "Design" section:
  • The Deutschland-class ships were broadly similar to the Braunschweigs...
where Braunschweigs is plural, not possessive. I wondered why the "s" was not in italics. I guess it is to let the name of the ship class stand out. What do you think?  – Corinne (talk) 02:29, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I would've put that "s" inside the italics (Braunschweigs), but in the grand scheme of things it's not that important :-). All the best, Miniapolis 02:34, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User name[edit]

I just completed a copy-edit of Andronikos Doukas Angelos and then archived it. After I hit "save", I looked at it and saw that just above it, the requesting editor is listed with a different name. His "nickname" is "Constantine", but his real user name is Cplakidas. I believe I asked Jonesey95 about a similar situation a while back, and I believe he said to list the real user name in the archives. What do you want to do here?  – Corinne (talk) 00:53, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Jonesey, and thanks for the email; reply follows ASAP. All the best, Miniapolis 02:20, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A small question[edit]

Hello, I'll ask you this rather randomly if it's okey. I've had the help from the Guild of Copy Editors by the user Gog the Mild in the article of Battle of Warsaw (1705). I think he has done an increidble good job, but I'm not sure how to reward him, as I'm pretty unaware to this stuff. How do members of the Guild of Copy Editors get rewarded for their copy-editing? Imonoz (talk) 16:12, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A simple thanks, on their talk page or by ping (clicking on "Thank" next to their last edit in the page history), should be fine. Some editors enjoy receiving barnstars. Whatever you choose, they'll appreciate the pat on the back. All the best, Miniapolis 18:41, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification[edit]

In your recent comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sea lioning you did not make it clear wh uyou were adressing. It sort of looks like ypu are saying that I badgered someone who disagrees with me. --Guy Macon (talk) 22:37, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not at all, and I'm sorry for the misunderstanding; IMO, Maplestrip was badgering editors who disagreed with them (us and a few others). Think I used one colon too many to indent :-). All the best, Miniapolis 23:47, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
