Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Yipe software, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Yipe software is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Yipe software, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Updating page with requested changes[edit]

Hi Goodvac. I'm not sure why my company site is being flagged. The page was marked as patrolled (which I assume is approved) over a year ago. I did however have some marks on the page saying I needed to update things and add more content. Which is what I'm currently trying to do. One of those things was to add references. I've added a couple of references to show the accuracy of the dates I've included. Is there something else specific I need to do?

When I look at the Category:Video_game_companies_of_the_United_States, I believe I am following the same type of template that other game companies are using.

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. You have violated one or more of our rules, including rules against adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, using Wikipedia for promotion, and editing inappropriately with a conflict of interest. This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia's policies. Although Wikipedia has a great many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals here, you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-coiun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
See also Wikipedia:Appealing a block for more information. Blueboy96 22:59, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming necessary?[edit]

Is it necessary for me to change my username? I don't mind changing if it's necessary, just trying to get clarification. yipesft is the "handle" I use just about anywhere I'm online.

If it falls afoul of the username policy, yes. Daniel Case (talk) 04:34, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you are unblocked and change your username, you realize that the WP:COI policy applies specifically to you - there will be many people watching. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 10:31, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
