Edit summaries[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! 86.134.23.220 (talk) 09:06, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest[edit]

You appear to be affiliated with Keysight technologies as all of your edits are connected with this organisation. If you are then, in accordance with Wikipedia's terms and conditions, you are not permitted to directly edit any article that is related to your employer (or parts of articles that mention your employer). Note: that under the terms and conditions you are still considered a paid editor even if you employer is not specifically paying you to make the edits.

You are only permitted to propose an edit on the article talk page giving your reasoning for the change. You should use the request edit template for this purpose giving your change in the form of "Change X to Y" along with reasons and references. The template alerts other users to your proposal. Another editor will then assess your request and either decline the edit or carry it out. Don't expect a quick turnaround as the edit request queue is usually backlogged. Please refer to WP:COI for more information.

You are required to declare your affiliation by placing the

template at the top of your talk page. In addition, you must place the

template at the top of the talk page of any affected article (just add your name if a template already exists using the next user number). And finally, you must place the

}}

template on your user page listing the articles to which you have contributed. (note that the articles go on separate lines which you can see if you edit this page)

If you are affiliated, but not actually paid, then you are still required to use the edit request template but use this

template on the article talk page instead. Optionally, you may wish to add this

to your user page,

You can copy and paste the template code directly (omitting the 'nowiki' and '/nowiki' along with the '<' and '>' symbols) as I have filled most of it in for you. If you have any issues or questions, then leave a response here, and I will attempt to answer them (or point you in the right direction).

I am assuming that you are directly affiliated and that Keysight are not clients or subcontractors of the company that you do work for (or vice versa). If that is the case then things get a bit more complicated, but we can address that if it is the case. CliveDunford (talk) 10:24, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
