The Wikipedia Library Card platform[edit]

The Wikipedia Library team are happy to announce the migration of our free research access signups to the Library Card platform! The Library Card is a centralised location for signing up to all of the free resources available through the library - now totalling over 60 publishers and databases offering access to more than 80,000 paywalled periodicals to help you research and find citations for Wikipedia articles. On-wiki signup pages have been archived, and all future signups will be coordinated on the platform.

Log in directly with your Wikipedia account via OAuth, and if you find resources that would be useful to you, please sign up! Ongoing development will be occurring for the site, so please let us know if you run into any error messages or unexpected behaviour. You can flag bugs directly on Phabricator.

Later this year we'll be integrating an authentication system, enabling direct access to resources using your Wikipedia login. No more need to remember separate logins for each website! We'll also be using this system to allow automated no-application-required access to a subset of partners, and integrating it with a search tool to make it easier to figure out which aggregator or publisher has the content you need! Self-note[edit]

I think we could do that much better if we make past RfCs (and RfC-like) discussions easily available. I am not sure about the exact way but, as an example, talk pages could have a linked index of past RfC's with one liner description of the subject, outcome, and date. While policy pages should have "sources" pointing to the latest discussion(s) about each topic.Nabla at an RFC.

Idea par excellence. Will think about it.Winged Blades of GodricOn leave 11:14, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for noticing. It "jumped me" some couple years ago, so I guess I've been hinting to it here and there, but I am not much into WP politics (in the positive sense), to take any further action than that (plus I am not a regular user for long, and the next few years will be even slower here - extra work, out there). If eventually two editors start having that idea once in a while, it would already be a success for me :-) - Nabla (talk) 23:19, 27 October 2017 (U 2017 (UTC)

Your wikibreak[edit]

Hi there, Winged Blades of Godric. I noticed on your user page at User:Godric on Leave, you state that the purpose of this account is for sparse on-wiki activities while the master-account is on an enforced wiki-break. However, your alternative account's activity clearly resembles that of a fully active account. As a bit of a Wikipediholic myself, I can't really complain , but I wanted to make you aware that administrators are able to edit the personal JavaScript pages of other editors. If you would like, I can remove the "WikiBreak Enforcer" code on User:Winged Blades of Godric/common.js for you if you wish to return to active editing with that account. Cheers, Mz7 (talk) 00:23, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Mz7::--Thanks for the note.On some retrospection, academics do not seem to be as challenging as I thought and leaves me enough fly-by-spare-time to indulge in WP.Thus, having self-removed the enforcer, am going back to my old account and plan to use this account only in rare cases of editing from insecure places like public computers etc.As to Wikipediholicism, hmm... that can't be denied:)Winged Blades of GodricOn leave 13:05, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
