Chubby lock service shouldn't have been deleted[edit]

I think deleting Chubby_Lock_Service was a mistake. Chubby is an interesting lock manager that's very different than what else is out there, and the paper about chubby is appearing at the 'Operating Systems Design and Implementation' conference next month - the most prestiegious operating systems conference in the world. Chubby is a major part of Google's infrastructure and Wikipedia is certainly a better encyclopedia with an article about it. (In fact, wikipedia.org might someday want to use the Chubby software or something very much like it).

Certainly the article was a bit sparse - sorry, I was making my first edit to another article (BigTable) - the BigTable article errnously claimed that BigTable was built on a piece of Google infrastructure that also had a wikipedia article, so when I fixed the BigTable article I created the Chubby article so there was still a link in the BigTable article. If anything, the Chubby article should have been listed as a stub, but it was my first article and I didn't know how to do that.

I think I'm following the first step of Wikipedia:Undeletion_policy right, but if I should be posting this appeal somewhere else please let me know. I'm not sure if there was a discussion about deleting it (I didn't see it on the list of articles for deletion on Oct 12 or 13th) so I think you "speedy deleted" it.

Thanks! Erik s paulson 16:31, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Erik,
Thanks for your note. Yes, you've followed the undeletion process correctly. Regarding the article: I speedy deleted it because the article made no assertion of notability. How many people use the system, either directly or indirectly? What impact has it had in the industry? What does it specifically do? Support these statements with references. Someone who knows nothing about the Chubby Lock Service wouldn't know anything about it from that article: the article you created does not even mention it is a type of software. I've restored the article to User:Erik s paulson/sandbox, a page you can use to practice and expand the article until it meets Wikipedia's basic requirements for notability. Then, feel free to move it back into articlespace. If you need further assistance, please feel free to ask me. Happy editing! :) Firsfron of Ronchester 19:12, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article Mike Verveer (politician) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable local politician. Fails WP:GNG and WP:POLITICIAN.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nomination of Matt Flynn (Wisconsin politician) for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Matt Flynn (Wisconsin politician) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Boleyn (talk) 19:03, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect license info[edit]

You stated in your first edit to Dick Wagner (activist) that Parts of this are based on the bio from the WI LGBT History project, which is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0 and is linked in the external links section. This is untrue. The website is actually licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, which is incompatible with Wikipedia (see WP:COPYOPEN). Rewrite the parts of the article copied from that website (use this to tell which parts) to avoid a WP:COPYVIO tag. Festucalextalk 11:47, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, did it myself. Please check the license carefully next time. Festucalextalk 19:35, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
