Two years now! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:46, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Archives Association of Ontario, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. Please note that citing the association itself cannot be used to establish notability, though it can be used for citing facts. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. DannyS712 (talk) 21:13, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@DannyS712:Thanks for the note. I created the article in the main space for a reason - the association is the only professional association for archives/archivists in the province and has a number of Wikipedia pages that (red) link to it. To have it marked for speedy deletion in less than half an hour is, needless to say, disappointing. In the grand scheme of questionable notable content, I'm not convinced this is one of them. --Dnllnd (talk) 21:20, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Dnllnd: I can understand that it is disheartening to have your article marked for deletion. However, I want to point out that I just moved it to draft space, rather than seeking to delete it. I moved it because most of the sources used where references to the association itself, which does not count as independent. I don't object to this being an article, but only to it being an article in its current form. Hopefully this answers your concerns --DannyS712 (talk) 21:26, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@DannyS712:Disheartening isn't the issue so much as an overly strict interpretation of notability given the role of the association, the number of pages that red link to it, and how unlikely it is that multiple mainstream publications are going to write about type of organization to meet the notability rules against which it is being judged. There are myriad association pages in the main space with the same tyoe of sourcing that haven't been deleted or moved to the draft space. I understand your decision and the thinking that led you do it, though I disagree with it. Regardless, it is what it is. Thanks for your time! --Dnllnd (talk) 21:34, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thursday April 4 and Friday April 5: Translat-a-thon NYC 2019 @ LaGuardia Community College

Translat-a-thon NYC 2019 @ LaGuardia Community College is hosting the second annual Wikipedia Translatathon! At this event on Thursday evening and during the day Friday this week, anyone from the public is invited to LaGuardia to join students, professors, and CUNY faculty in translating Wikipedia articles among any languages which attendees understand. Themes for this event include public health and the history of New York City.

New York City has a large immigrant population and great diversity of speakers of various languages. Among all schools in New York City, LaGuardia has the highest percentage of immigrant students, the highest percentage of students who speak a language other than English as their first language, and the greatest representation of language diversity. It is a strength of LaGuardia that it can present "Wikipedia translatathons", which are Wikipedia translation events.

Hi Dnlld, The references used in this article were the same references used when the article got deleted, as it was discussed here here. Also this website [1] shows what references were used as that site was copied from the original mainspace Wikipedia article. Currently she isn't notable per WP:MUSICBIO. Has she released albums or singles? You could add those if she has.--Mjs1991 (talk) 22:31, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Mjs1991: Hi, there. Thanks for the additional info. Can you have another look at the page or add a note that it should be looked at by another editor? I added additional references in March, and several of them go beyond passing references. I also rewrote most of the article since it was declined in September of 2018 so that it's encyclopedic in tone. Women from the global south are underrepresented on the site. That she's recognized in multiple news pieces for being one of the only female rappers due to the genre being viewed as male-only is notable.

To be clear, I'm not the original creator of the deleted page or this draft. I clean up GC13 articles and resubmit them. I found the page on that list, so another editor had already flagged her as potentially notable before I did any revisions. The changes I made address several of the earlier reasons for deletion, etc. Given the changes and multiple references, I'm not clear on why it was declined again. --Dnllnd (talk) 17:53, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Kelly Goldsmith requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kelly Goldsmith (2nd nomination). When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Lord Grandwell (talk) 17:59, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Noidaabc: Hi, there. I've contested the nomination as the criteria you used doesn't align with the current state of the page. Can you please consider removing the tag so that the page can be fairly assessed rather than caught up in an outdated deletion discussion? Alternatively, explain why you think the current version of the page doesn't meet notability? Much appreciated. --Dnllnd (talk) 18:06, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for creating that Michelle Caswell page and saying hello[edit]

There's a lot on her online, so I may end up adding something. She also has a somewhat active Twitter account, so I think that would be worth adding to an "External links" section. If I have some time, I'll try to add in a little more. Cool that you work at University of Waterloo’s Special Collections & Archives (SCA) department! I currently work at the National Security Archive and I got my MLIS from University of Maryland about a year ago, specializing in Archives & Digital Curation, so its always great to see more archivists on here! I've done some editing on the Archival appraisal page in the past (which probably needs some work), and I have some notes here for an upcoming page I'm tentatively titling "Archivists in popular culture". I probably need to edit some more archives-related pages myself, as I've mainly been doing editing in other areas. So I just thought I'd say hello and thanks for your edits on Wikipedia.
