For an IP-editor to threaten banning is an interesting concept. Either they are an admin trying to hide behind some sort of anonymity, or they are trying to massively exceed their capabilities. Alwaystouchout generally has good summaries, so using it as a source per se isn't a bad idea, at least for uncontroversial things. The problem here is that "Crossrail 3" doesn't seem to appear anywhere else. The site has a bad habit of not being clear about how solid its info is - so something that Dave overheard on a newsgroup once is written in the same authoritative tone as something that appears in a thousand official documents. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on London Overground. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Sorry about that. The discussion has been done over the past few months. It seemed to have been settled and the other (anonymous) editor stopped making changes. They then came back & after being referred to Admin were suspended. Again, this seemed to have resolved the issue, but once again the anonymous user has brought it back to life. Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

I notice that you and Sandler151 appear to be in a slow revert-war on the biography of Andrew Gilligan. Can I ask that instead of simply reverting each other until domesday, you each go to the talk page of the article to debate the subject? It ought to be clear that you have a disagreement and are sticking to your positions, and from my perspective I can't say that either of you are clearly in the right according to established policies. The thought had occurred to me, because User:Sandler151 is a particularly extreme example of a single purpose account. However we assume good faith and indeed if it was a subject editing their own biography, the advice is to be understanding. Normally the rule is that blogs are poor sources for controversial claims, especially partisan ones - which I would say includes Boriswatch. However this rule is relaxed for blogs hosted by major news organisations, which I would think the Guardian blog comes under. The other problem which occurs to me is that the claim itself is somewhat speculative and as I read it the author does not claim that Andrew Gilligan has been proved to be a sockpuppeteer, only that the accusation is worth taking seriously. I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".

Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.

• Each casebook will have a subpage.

• Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
• It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
• Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.

• I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.

What you can do now:

1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.

2. If you're a law student,

• Email http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:Hornbook to your classmates, and tell them to do the same.
• Contact me directly via talk page or email about coordinating a chapter of "Student WP:Hornbook Editors" at your own school.

(You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)

The article St Andrews rail link has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This appears to be a grassroots campaign that's been rejected by the government. The single sentence does not assert notability; and although there's been some local news coverage of the group advocating this, I don't think it satisfies WP:N.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.
