Added source[edit]

Hello @ChrisWx, I now have a source for the tornado count on the article Tornadoes of 2023. Oddballslover (talk) 03:04, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Oddballslover:, we use damage surveys to count the total amount of tornadoes in a year. There may be multiple reports on the same tornado, so we use surveys to get the most accurate count of tornadoes in a year. ChrisWx (talk - contribs) 03:07, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
However, I did update the amount of preliminary tornado reports in the lead using the source you used. ChrisWx (talk - contribs) 03:18, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Baltinglass[edit]

Hi Chris @ChrisWx, I removed the entry of a notorious criminal (Larry Murphy) for being listed as a 'notable person' from Baltinglass. He is not from Baltinglass. He is from Glenealy, 60km and 1 hour away. There is no evidence that he ever lived in Baltinglass. He certainly doesn't come from there. At one point prior to his conviction, he was taken to the police station there (it's the polic/Garda HQ for West Wicklow) but he is not from there. Wrong to include him as a 'notable' Baltinglass person. Thank you. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Murphy_(criminal) FIPRVW (talk) 21:51, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, alright then! Thanks for letting me know. ChrisWx (talk - contribs) 21:52, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe accept my deletion/edit then? Guy is not from Baltinglass (unlike all the other people on the list). Thanks. FIPRVW (talk) 22:10, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, feel free to revert back to your version, which I see you've already done. I also removed the warning from the talk page where the edit was warned. ChrisWx (talk - contribs) 22:14, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. GRMA. FIPRVW (talk) 22:20, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. ChrisWx (talk - contribs) 22:21, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted[edit]

Hi ChrisWx. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or RedWarn.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:31, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Would you like to help with the Tornadoes of 1945 overhaul?[edit]

Hey ChrisWx! So myself and other editors have been working on improving tornado documentation on Wikipedia for super old tornadoes. We recently finished up List of United States tornadoes in 1946 and have now begun working on the 1945 tornadoes. User:WeatherWriter/1945 Tornado Checklist is basically a centralized page where the current steps and progress can be seen. You are newer to Wikipedia, so I wanted to offer and ask if you would like to participate in the 1945 tornadoes overhaul. It would be a great way to get meet other editors and get some behind-the-scenes editing experience off some of the newer and more visited articles (i.e. 2023 tornado articles). If you ever have any questions, feel free to drop me a message on my talk page! Have an amazing day! WeatherWriter (talk) 23:38, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@WeatherWriter Sure, I can help out every now and again. I probably won't be heavily involved in the overhaul but I would like to help out some. ChrisWx (talk - contribs) 01:44, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pending changes reviewer granted[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Editing 'Gay Sex Roles'[edit]

Thanks for your message Chris. I am not finding this process intuitively friendly- my apologies. I am trying to add a final subtopic with references that would read as follows:

Significance [Bold] Cultural portrayals of erotic behavior in men who have sex with men (MSM) emphasize anal intercourse and the associated sex roles of being the penetrator ('top'), the penetrated ('bottom'), or taking on either role ('versatile'). However, anal intercourse as the predominant activity of MSM is not supported by over a century of academic published research. It's cultural emphasis is a stereotype based on a previously unrecognized prejudice as noted in the revised definition of 'homosexism.' (27, 28, 29, 30)

Thanks so much for your assistance! Rehellman (talk) 18:27, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Rehellman, thanks for letting me know about this. I understand that it can be somewhat complicated to add content like this to Wikipedia. For section titles, type them like this
===Significance===
to lead to

Significance

In order to add citations, you need to add <ref> at the start and </ref> at the end. For example, with source 27, you can put those tags at the beginning and end to lead to this.[1] The sources will be automatically added to the reference list below.
For further information on how to layout and add content to Wikipedia, I recommend you read the Manual of Style regarding the topics you're editing. Let me know if you have any questions about this, thank you. ChrisWx (talk - contribs) 18:36, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
