Hi Biologyoracle!
Just thought you deserved an explanation of my reversion of your most recent edit. While I liked the information you included, first of all, the section on the lion's phylogeny is pretty much already covered by the article. For instance, info on early fossil records of the lion are found just under Taxonomy and evolution, as well as the lion's relationship with the other big cats.
Secondly, your info on analogies and homologies was interesting, but I felt it wasn't really specific enough just to lions to warrant mentioning in the article - features such as forward-facing eyes are traits that are shared by most predators in general, which rely on depth perception in order to target their prey, so similarities between the lion and the eagle, for instance, could just as well be similarities between the domestic cat and the eagle, the wolf and the eagle, etc... What you provided would be great information to include on a general article about homologies, however.
Finally, while I do believe that the information you provided is accurate, you should cite your sources when you include a large amount of material.
I hope that helps to explain why I reverted the edit...I thought the stuff on homologies in particular was great material, but it didn't really seem to fit in the lion article. Cheers, Alphard08 (talk) 11:57, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
