This is work in progress for my great uncle, i was working with my cousin on this, can you please restore the text? I did not even get a chance to process it.James Michael DuPont (talk) 05:12, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No, I cannot. Please see my comments below. CactusWriter (talk) 16:49, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violations on user subpages[edit]

Mdupont. please note that it is a violation of our Wikipedia copyright policy to copy-paste blocks of "all rights reserved" text onto any page in Wikipedia -- this includes your user subpages. Referencing the outside source does not remove the violation if the entirety or a substantial portion of the sourced page has been copied. Because of this it has been necessary to delete the above two pages as well as the page at User:Mdupont/LuigiZummoPollara. I have not yet checked your other subpages, but I would appreciate it if you could review them now for similar copyvio issues. And remove any which are problematic. If you have further questions about this, please ask. CactusWriter (talk) 02:15, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I was collecting sources for my great uncles pages. Please restore the article I dont have a back of it. James Michael DuPont (talk) 05:18, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If the original page was a copyright violation (and I imagine CactusWriter would be able to accurately detect a copyright violation,) then no, it cannot be restored. Wikipedia isn't a place where you can store copyright violations, even in your userpages. Kevin Gorman (talk) 06:06, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Those were my only backups of articles about my family, I request that I get them, I can remove the copyrighted work and cite it. please, this is emotionally important for my, my grandma, violletta pollara passed away recently and we started these articles for her and her brothers. Please restore them! thanks. James Michael DuPont (talk) 15:29, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Mdupont, I am sorry but it is an absolute violation of Wikipedia's policy to add or restore copyright violations. I understand this information is important to you. However, it makes no sense to me why you believe that you no longer have access to it. You created those pages by copy-pasting the newspaper obituary page in its entirety onto your subpage -- and those newspaper pages remain accessible online. In fact, the links to those newspaper pages are provided in the CSD notifications you received as well as in the reason for deletion when you click on the redlinks to your deleted pages. The original sourced material is the backup. Certainly you are welcome to ask for a review about this from other administrators at WP:Deletion Review, but before doing so please read that page -- including the boldfaced line Under no circumstances will revisions that are copyright violations, libelous or contain otherwise prohibited content be restored. If you have other questions about this, please feel free to ask. CactusWriter (talk) 16:46, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There were not only newpapers which i quoted in entirety, the urls of which i dont have any more on hands, but input from people from various mails. I would have to go back and redo the work of collecting them. Then I could start to cut them down. but ok, I guess you are going to stand by your position. I wish I never asked you for a comment on speedy deletion and then you might have not decided to start deleting my user pages. I feel a bit hounded. :( James Michael DuPont (talk) 17:27, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As I said before, the links to the sources (the urls) are not lost. They are listed on this page. If you read the above notification for User:Mdupont/Violetta Josephine Pollara DuPont, than you'll discover that it lists the url of the newspaper obituary which you copy-pasted and which was the only substantial content on the page. If you read the above notification for User:Mdupont/FrankZummoPollara, than you'll find that it lists the url of the newspaper obituary which you copy-pasted and which was the only substantial content on the page. I have restored User:Mdupont/LuigiZummoPollara (without the copyvio text and with the history purged) so that you can access the list of other references on that page.

As far as hounding is concerned -- I'm confused, James Michael DuPont. I don't recall answering a question by you before today. Have we had a conversation previously? If so, could you please point it out. I'd very much appreciate knowing what it was about. It is definitely possible that I forgot. OTOH, I do think you should focus more on why your user pages were copyright violations and less on the regret for having them discovered. CactusWriter (talk) 23:56, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
