Josiah William Conard Davis (born March 23, 2001), is an American hip-hop and R&B musician. His career began with five mixtapes under the alias of LMBRJK (pronounced Lumberjack) between 2015 and 2016, and he has continued his career with two more mixtapes, Formerly Known EP (2016) and Too Real (2017) under his own name, Josiah Davis.

Early life[edit]

Josiah Davis was born Josiah William Conard Davis to his father, Kelly, and his mother, Christina, on March 23, 2001 in Rockford, Illinois. In 2003, his family moved to Round Lake Beach, Illinois, where Josiah was exposed to lots of Christian music from a very young age.

As he grew up, Josiah began singing and joining choirs at his schools. Although he had a liking for music his whole life, Josiah started writing music at the age of thirteen and began recording rap music at the age of fourteen.

Josiah Davis is the first rapper to come out of Round Lake Beach, Illinois.

Music career[edit]

Josiah Davis began his recording artist career under the name LMBRJK in 2015 with The Mixtape, a project released December 25, 2015 via SoundCloud.

Within weeks of The Mixtape's release, Josiah and some of his close friends opened up their own label, Flock Records, and started releasing music as a professional endeavor. As both a founder of the label and the first signed artist, he released his first EP, Flip Sides EP, on May 19, 2016. Following the EP, he released his third mixtape, Ain't Grown Yet, on SoundCloud in September 2016. Not soon after, he began the rollout of his fourth project called Freebie Fridays, consisting of four different stand alone singles. The first was released in September 2016 and the final one was released November 20. The last mixtape to be released by LMBRJK was called ADHD and was put out as a collaboration between him and his colleague Jon "J Putty" Putman.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Josiah left the LMBRJK alias behind him following the release of ADHD and continued creating music under his own name. He released an EP called Formerly Known on December 25, 2016 in preparation for his breakout mixtape Too Real, released April 14, 2017. This project featured multiple artists, including Montell Fish, Drew Famous, Nate Adamz, and AJ Garcia. The project also featured fellow label mates Rickie "Nicaragua" Fujino and Zach "Rusty Red" Everly. Two singles were released during the rollout for the Too Real mixtape, Change and Send Me Your Love. Both were released on SoundCloud, Apple Music, Google Play, and Spotify. While Change gained a lot of traction on SoundCloud, Send Me Your Love recieved more commercial success, being posted on Christian music blog Rapzilla and a Christian music promotional channel on YouTube called Gospel Hydration.[7][8][9][10]

Over the summer of 2017, Josiah Davis released a stand alone single called MINE. as early preparation for his forthcoming mixtape SMILING., set to release January 2018, according to Josiah's Genius page as well as his Twitter.[11][11]
