WikiProject Media Inspection Team (MIT) are a list of users who review the validity of the "free license" claim on images tagged with a free license. Any user may participate but only administrators and inspectors (users who have demonstrated a level of understanding in copyright) may "review" the images.
The following instructions are only for administrators and community approved inspectors. If you are neither of those, you only have to tag the media {{User:White Cat/Copyrightreview}}.
If the media is currently available under the same license as on the one claimed modify the review template to {{User:とある白い猫/Copyrightreview|YourUsername|~~~~~}}. This places it in Category:WPMIT reviewed media.
If the media is currently available under a free license, but the license on Wikipedia is not the same (such as an older version of the same license), update the license tag on wikipedia to match the source one and modify the review template to {{User:とある白い猫/Copyrightreview|YourUsername|~~~~~|changed=license}}. This places it in Category:WPMIT reviewed media.
If the license is considered a free license and hence allowable on Commons, сheck if the author is properly attributed.
If the media is currently available with a license which is not considered a free license, do not update the license tag. Instead modify the review tag to {{User:とある白い猫/Copyrightreview|YourUsername|~~~~~|CurrentCopyrightLicense}}. This places it in Category:WPMIT reviewed possibly unfree media.
If the media is from a source like Flickr please leave a comment on the source page, such as "Thanks for licensing this CC-BY! Your choice of a free license has allowed us to use your media in Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/ )." to confirm that the copyright holder did not make a mistake in their license selection and to encourage them to join our community.
