Harrison Floyd is a former U.S. Marine veteran, political figure, and leader of the political group Black Voices for Trump during the 2020 election cycle[1]. He has been involved in politics and legal issues, including a case of election interference in Fulton County, Georgia[1].

Early life and military service[edit]

Floyd is a graduate of George Washington University and served as a Machine Gunner in the Marine Corps Infantry during three deployments, including combat operations in Saqlawiyah and Ramadi, Iraq[2]. He also obtained specialties as a Combat Marksmanship Trainer, an Information Operations Planner, and as a Martial Art Instructor Trainer[2]. Floyd has spoken about the importance of diversity in the military, emphasizing the need for operational readiness and leadership by example[3].

Political career[edit]

In 2019, Floyd announced his candidacy for the 7th Congressional District of Georgia as a Republican, but dropped out of the race just over a month later[1][2]. During his campaign, he released a video in which he appeared to threaten Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders[4]. In 2020, Floyd led the organization Black Voices for Trump and served as executive producer of right-wing outlet Bright News and as a partner at Washington D.C.-based Commonwealth International[1].

Legal issues[edit]

Floyd was charged in the Fulton County case with violating Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, for influencing a witness and conspiracy to commit solicitation of false statements[1]. He was also charged in a separate case with second-degree assault for allegedly attacking an FBI agent who had served him a grand jury subpoena in the Department of Justice’s investigation into efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election[1]. In 2023, Floyd was the only one of 18 co-defendants in former President Donald Trump’s election interference case in Fulton County to stay in jail[1]. After his release, Floyd set aside roughly $72,000 of contributions to his own legal defense fund to help people post bail[5].
