Welcome to my userpage!

I am AddWittyNameHere, a Dutch AFAB agender person. I don't particularly care what pronouns people use for me. As for nicknames, 'Witty' and 'AWNH' are probably the most common abbreviations folks around here use—but as long as you're not blatantly insulting me and I can figure out you're addressing me, anything else you can come up with is fine too. I'm on the autistic spectrum. For the most part, this has little to no impact on my wiki-editing, but it means I can occasionally be remarkably long-winded. I try to keep a lid on that, but when I feel the exact nuances of a situation or subject are important, I may occasionally slip into lengthier-than-needed explanations without noticing or over-relying on bold and italic text to emphasize parts of what I'm saying. Please feel free to point this out to me where it hinders rather than helps communication. (Preferably in a somewhat polite manner )

I've been active (in bursts of a few months at a time) on English Wikipedia since mid-2013, after several years of reading (and a handful of IP-edits prior to registering). Due to my bursts of on-wiki activity and following inactivity, some of my user rights occasionally lapse from inactivity; I generally only re-request these when I need them again. As such, to be sure of what user rights I currently have, checking Special:UserRights/AddWittyNameHere is your best bet. I'm in the Netherlands (timezone UTC+1/UTC+2 during DST), but as a result of my nocturnal tendencies, most of my activity occurs when the majority of people in my timezone are asleep.

I'm multi-lingual. See my babel-boxes for more information. In addition, there's a fair bunch of other European languages that I can to varying degrees read, but not speak or write in.

My work at Wikipedia

Right now (May 2023): hopping back and forth between diffusing Category:Moth genera, bringing the Pterophoridae (and all included taxa) in line with current taxonomy, and referencing/expanding the occasional random moth stub.

Short-ish* term to-do list: Doing the same taxo-update for the Macropiratidae and Alucitidae; taking a good look at List of arctiine genera: A–M & N–Z because the last large-scale check of those seems to have been in 2017; fix Bordaia & species (= Abantiades); piece-by-piece updating of WP:WikiProject Lepidoptera's largely-neglected front page. *read: preferably at some point before I randomly disappear from en.wiki once again

Long-term/general: I tend to spend most of my time on Wikipedia doing Tree of Life-related work, with a strong but not exclusive focus on moths and butterflies. Much of said work is of an infrastructural/maintenance-gnoming kind, with a large portion of my edits consisting of such things as adding missing-but-needed wikilinks; converting taxoboxes to the automatic taxobox/speciesbox system; creating/updating/templating/categorizing redirects; categorizing and stub-sorting articles; moving taxon articles, in particular those that do not follow WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA or that have been the subject of taxonomic revision; and working on the Lepidoptera categorization tree itself.

I also deal with non-infrastructural gnoming (e.g. typo-fixing), and with occasional content work, including improving sourcing, expanding content, and the occasional article creation.

I also work with redirects, stubs and other maintenance work outside the purview of the Tree of Life, but this is mostly on an "as I come across it" basis. I used to be a fairly active vandal-fighter, but these days engage in that only once in a blue moon in between bursts of maintenance-gnoming.

Have a nice day,
AddWittyNameHere
