The other synthol? 2007[edit]
Synthol is primarily used as posing oil not as an injection although that is common as well. Someone please put this in better words.

- I am not the original person who asked the question, however I am seeing several remarks about Synthol-Usage on youtube for "bodybuilders". As in, they inject oily substances into their muscles to inflate them, and make them look bigger. And they call it "synthol". I do not know whether this is really synthol or not, it would however be nice if there could be a link from this article, to steroid and other abuses/usage of "Synthol" (the german wikipedia mentions Synthol differently than does english wikipedia) 188.22.177.18 (talk) 14:33, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Languages[edit]
This article was linked to d:Synthol (Q902447) on Wikidata. I think that link was false because I believe all other articles linked to Q902447 are in fact about Synthol (bodybuilding), which is a redirect here on en-wiki. Hence I deleted the link to this page from d:Synthol and it thus has no inter-wiki now, while Q902447 has no en-wiki link as it seems to be impossible to link a wikidata item to a redirect. The result of the move request was: move as proposed. Based on the discussion here, I am moving Synthol to Synthol (mouthwash), and Synthol (disambiguation) to Synthol. Furthermore, it looks like the discussion of Synthol, the body building oil, still exists at Site enhancement oil. It may be worth moving that article over the redirect at Synthol (bodybuilding), but that may be beyond the scope of this discussion. (non-admin closure) Bradv 19:33, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
Synthol → Synthol (mouthwash) – The primary use of "Syththol" is the bodybuilding cosmetic. Type "Synthol" into any search engine and it will almost always come up with results for the grossly abused bodybuilding injectable. Mark Schierbecker (talk) 13:33, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
- History split needed for page history preservation @Mark Schierbecker: agree with what you're saying here and definitely Synthol refers to the dangerous body building substance. However so does the history of this page. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Synthol&oldid=81698228 at some point someone (and I don't blame them) has blanked it and written the mouthwash brand over the top. Hence the mislink with it:Synthol de:Synthol etc. I am not sure how to fix this. Will probably need an admin to work out where the Synthol (mouthwash) history begins and move it out. - This is a real mess. It looks like little of the content on this page history is safe. I have duplicated content from Bodybuilding at site enhancement oil. That may not be the ideal solution, and could be reverted. But wherever content is placed it must be clearly identifiable and sourced by those who understand medically what is going on. - Comment: No case has been made that the body building substance is primary, and it seems unlikely to me. I agree with IIO's suggestion that the DAB should be moved to the base name for now at least. Also agree that history needs to be preserved, but suggest that rather than trying to sort it out, just banners on the talk pages stating that text has been copied might be a better bet. Concern about "mouthwash"[edit]
While we are at it. The "mouthwash" appears not to be a mouthwash as generally understood : "However, it is not indicated for diseases of the mouth ( gingivitis , stomatitis, ulcers , toothache). - In the United States at least, mouthwashes with no medical purpose, but used to freshen breath are called "cosmetic" mouthwashes.
