There is no criticism section[edit]
Autism Speaks is an evil organisation, a hate group wanting to do an autistic genocide. I beg for a criticism section. ZippyComb (talk) 14:08, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- In the lede there is: "The autism rights movement and neurodiversity advocates see autism as a difference rather than a disease that needs to be cured". There are some references to criticism in the "Activities" section, and a good deal of critical coverage in the "Views" section. The criticism is there. signed, Willondon (talk) 14:34, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- Is this really enough though? People have made extended critiques on this matter. Many of them made. by the very people they claim to represent. I'm autistic and I am yet to meet another autistic person who supports autism speaks in anyway. Truth be told, in the views of most autistic people (including myself) less than a paragraph haphazardly thrown in to this article isn't the kind of criticism AS deserves. They've done a lot of harm. Skyethesudoer (talk) 00:22, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
- It's not enough. The criticisms are only briefly mentioned, and each time, it's followed by an entire paragraph (or more) of Autism Speaks's response (and the responses always misrepresent the criticism)
- This article is essentially a piece of apologetics for the organization 172.59.113.209 (talk) 11:29, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- I 110% agree. Skyethesudoer (talk) 21:08, 3 August 2023 (UTC)

- It should not have its own section. See WP:CSECTION. --Hob Gadling (talk) 06:49, 27 November 2022 (UTC)
- Indeed AS is a hate group, consciously spreading hateful misinformation about Autism. The Autistic community is fighting to repair the damage they do, but with a Wikipedia page like this I understand that we're fighting a uphill battle. 87.212.64.74 (talk) 07:02, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- I did not mean there should be no criticism, only that it should not be ghettoed away in its own section. The whole article must be written from a mainstram perspective.
- I alerted WP:FTN. --Hob Gadling (talk) 08:15, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- I agree. As an autistic person, Autism speaks still proposes torturous ABA therapy for example which causes abourlt 30% of the children traumatized by it to commit suicide. We definitely need a promiant section listing all the critisism against AS, like for example, that to this day, they do not have an autistic board member. 2601:40B:C200:1F8:C1FD:71DE:F3E6:39B6 (talk) 04:24, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

absolutely blows me away that the word "hate" does not appear in the article for this hate group --24.241.18.163 (talk) 05:04, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

In the last sentence of the last paragraph of the Research section, there should be a "to" in between "access" and "the" Rfsmaster (talk) 15:56, 3 May 2022 (UTC)
Cite Studies for "Autism as a Disease"[edit]
The section about vaccines causing autism mentions studies disproving the claim. But all the citations in that section are to newspaper articles. We should also cite the studies themselves. 2A02:8084:C81:1580:CD6E:B303:5820:60F8 (talk) 09:40, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
- No, we should cite secondary WP:MEDRS sources. --Hob Gadling (talk) 09:50, 30 November 2022 (UTC)

Autism speaks should be put as a hate group. They don't advocate for us, they try to destroy us. They also have been caught, I repeat, CAUGHT, spreading misinformation. Autism is not a disease. Saewooxyyz (talk) 09:27, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- Not done for now: I agree with this, but this is not proper usage of an edit request. Edit requests are supposed to be specific "change X to Y" or "add X after Y", while following all Wikipedian policies, including providing reliable sources to support any claims made.

It is Ableist!!!![edit]
Autism Speaks is ableist and works with GameStop, Sesame Street, and 3 more. It is trying to cure Autism, but Autism isn’t curable at all. It REALLY needs to be abolished! 2601:1C2:4680:B170:F5E4:9F09:F7A3:FF31 (talk) 01:47, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
