Koosafaaro was an officer of [[Mohamed Abshir Muse]] during the 1960s and commander of the Somali Police Field Force in the 1970s.

==Career==
In responsive to power-sharing disagreements, the Habar Gidir staged a small revolt in 1964. The collective punishment meted out by Koosafaaro resulted in the first ever organized armed resistance in Somalia called Koofiya Dhuub. In the 1970s he led a subset of the police called ''ciidanka darwiish'' meaning the Darwishian Force, whose members donned a white keffiyeh.<ref>The nature of the state in Somalia and Somaliland: The Conversations of the Statebuilding and Peacebuilding Processes</ref>

==Personal life==
His father Farah Mahamuud Sugulle, of the Bahararsame, also known as Farah Dacay, or Kaligimaadhle, was a member of the Khusuusi until 1909 when he was executed in the aftermath of the Anjeel (Tree of Bad Counsel) incident for defecting to the English.

===Anjeel incident===
The Tree of Bad Counsel incident occurred in the aftermath of the Sheik Salih letter which was read aloud to several Darwiish which claimed that Salih, the Sayyid Hassan's teacher, had excommunicated him. This caused Kaligimaadhle as well as 400 others to defect from the Darwiish fleeing in the direction of Burao in March 1909. When the pursuing Darwiish found them, he was killed for his defection. Prior to being killed there was a chase whereby Kaligimaadhle was able to hold off the Darwiish cavalry for a while due to being fast.<ref>{{Cite web | url=http://maktabadda.com/diiwaanka-gabayadii-sayid-maxamed-cabdulle-xasan/dacayow-daallinkiiyow/ | title=Dacayow Daallinkiiyow| date=2014-05-09}}</ref><ref>http://www.oodweynemedia.com/2018/11/21/daraawiish-ma-4-sanno-mise-21/</ref>
