you must stop putting your own opinions into Wikipedia

:You are continuing to edit war at [[Go Seigen]]. Wikipedia does not accept edits that are just personal opinions. You are in breach of basic policies by insisting on inserting your views. Only factual matters and comments quoted from others are acceptable. You have been making edits that endanger your status as editor here: removing references in the Shusai article, and using inflammatory comments as edit summaries. I am cautioning you that these are treated as very serious matters. [[User:Charles Matthews|Charles Matthews]] 16:40, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Welcome!

Hello By78, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, some of your edits have not conformed to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy, and have been reverted. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a great page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Wikipedia Boot Camp, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  -Mysekurity 04:59, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Go Seigen

I have gone back and put back my edit. There appear to be a few things we do not agree on, but here is my two cents: First of all, the ordering of surname and first name should be along the lines of Asian tradition in order to show proper respect to the individuals whose names are mentioned. Having studied East Asian culture and interacted with quite a number of people native in Korea, Japan, and China, I have found that they all prefer to have their names, when appearing in Western literature, ordered with last names first. It is quite disrespectful to have their given names appear before their last names. If Wikipedia has a particular policy dictates otherwise, well, it is simply WRONG. If you read Japanese or Chinese, which I do, you would find that Japanese and Chinese sections of Wikipedia honor the Western tradition of ordering first and last names (i.e. first names first, last names last).

I agree on how the names should be that way. The articles for those players were that way when I created them, but since Wikipedia instilled this new policy, they must be listed this way on Wikipedia.

Second, Go Seigen's affliation should be "honorary member of the Nihon Ki-in", NOT "retired". It does NOT make any sense to state one's affliation as "retired". That is NOT the definition of the word "affliation". Thus, to indicate that Go Seigen is currently retired, it must be assigned to the category of "status".

I had not included this because I was incorporating the set template. My mistake.

Third, you added that Hashimoto Utaro would go on to found Kansai Kiin in the section listing Go Seigen's jubango opponents. This simply is NOT needed, as the entry focuses on Go Seigen, and should you feel you want to inform readers of Mr. Hasimoto's achievements, it should be added to his respective Wiki entry.

The reason I listed that is because it adds light to the fact that at the time, Utaro was a respectable go player and that Go Seigen defeating him was a noted achievement.

Lastly, it is convenient for the readers to have links to the various concepts and names mentioned in the article. This is simply good sense.

It is convienent, but especially with a long article like that, extra links leads to extra loading times. Not everyone has a fast connection, and I would doubt anyone would want to wait longer just for a few more links. Can 03:22, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:9Ppromotion.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:9Ppromotion.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Lupo 07:35, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

== Preview, Group, Summarize ==

Thank you for your edits, but care needs to be exercised. Among other things, please consider 1) Describing each edit with the Edit Summary box (above the Save Page button), 2) Grouping edits together to reduce the number of edits in the Page History to make it easier for fellow editors to monitor the edits, 3) Using the Show Preview button.
