:::At first I thought you had uploaded a crop of the original Thelka image, but looking at the image description page, I suspect that you've been out and taken a fresh shot today. Nice job!
:::I'd be surprised if there aren't more Bansky's around in Bristol - it would probably be worth talking to [[User:Duncancumming]] or others of WikiProject Graffiti. [http://visitbristol.co.uk/site/guide-book/banksy-graffiti-artist This Web site] suggests there is one on Cheltenham Road and there is mention of one on Gloucester Rd [http://www.knowhere.co.uk/488_shops.html here]. However, I don't know how current these websites are, and graffiti can be transient. There are several websites and Flickr groups devoted to Banksy, so it can be rewarding to look through those and see if you can recognise any locations. If you happen to catch any, I'm not sure that the article would have room to support them, but there is a category for Banksy on Commons where I'm sure they would be appreciated. Roof Tiled in imitation of thatch photo

That is one fantastic roof in Croyde, North Devon. I want to build this type of roof on a cottage that I am designing right now. I want to get detailed photos of the underside of the curved part to see how it was constructed...any way you can get that and post it? Any details about the design and constrcution of the roof would be much appreaciated. ThatchFun

Cracked windscreen

Just out of pure curiosity, after you removed it from the SAA article — is a cracked windscreen that common to not be an 'incident'? I'd have imagined otherwise, or are the fail-safes good enough? Thanks, dewet| 15:46, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I removed it simply because a cracked windscreen is not important enought to feature in an encyclopedia. I'm not saying it's unimportant to the airline or the passengers, I'm only saying we need not feature such incidents in WP. I would guess every airline has had such things happen so we'd have a cracked windsereen or a burst tyre entry for every airline. We keep the Incidents heading for much more serious stuff. Thanks for asking - Adrian Pingstone 15:52, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have no problem with the removal; as I said this was for my own curiousity. You seem knowledgeable about the airline industry, which is why I posed my question to you. I was just wondering whether it is actually just trivial, or indeed a common serious occurence? The same for burst tyres. dewet| 15:55, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I worked on Airbus A320, A330 and A340 wing design at BAe as an aerodynamicist but I'm in no way connected with airline matters, just interested. So, sorry, I can't help you. Best Wishes - Adrian Pingstone 14:26, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Diyarbakir

A recent user edit on the Diyarbakir page removed most of the pictures that had been there and replaced them with new ones. I don't think some of the new ones are of the same quality as the old ones (some are low quality scans) but don't want to "be bold" as I uploaded most of the earlier ones and may be biased. Your Solomon's judgement would be appreciated. Old piccies are viewable at [1] Gerry Lynch 21:04, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Advice

Hi, hoping you can offer some advice. I puchased (from an aviation collector's estate) an original black and white photo of a Miles Whitney Straight, which I thought would be good to illustrate both that article, and the history of Aerial Topdressing. The problem is potential copyright. On the back is the stamp of Whites Aviation, (but no assertion of copyright). Whites aviation is a firm which came into existence after the (apparently pre war) photo appears to have been taken. Leo White was airplane buff and used to collect photos himself, and the estate included several hundred of his photos. I contacted the successor firm, sending a copy of the photo, and asking them if they owned copyright. Twice. 6 months ago. I have heard nothing back.

Would I be safe to put the image on Wikipedia?Winstonwolfe 00:25, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for editing my entry. A quick note, though. I assume you removed "massive amount" because it sounded POV. Do you have an idea for alternative wording that indicates the amount of messages without removing it entirely? Also, I think your rewrite has a stray comma introducing a clause that isn't actually a clause. I'll go chance that last bit. Please answer on my talk page. - Mgm|(talk) 15:52, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Afriqiyah Airways

I recently uploaded this image from the German Wikipedia. On the German wikipedia, the license had the letter 'c' in grey with a strike through. I didn't know what that corresponded to in the english one. Could you please check it out in the German Wikipedia and apply a suitable license tag.

Thanks for the fix

Hi! My name is Zoltán Szőke. I work for the National Archives of Hungary (former ICCS member state!!!). I wrote my M.A. thesis on the ICCS (dealing mainly with the "controversial" role of the Hungarian delegation...) According to tens of thousands of primary archival sources there was an "of" in the commission’s name instead of a "for". It should be changed in the title of the article, too. I just couldn’t find out how. I'll be back later with more.

I'm not sure what you'd like me to do for you but whatever it is it's unlikely I can help. I merely edited the article to make it better. My normal activity is adding pictures to articles so I don't how to rename an article. Contrails referenced in newspaper

Note that I originally just posted this to talk:contrails, but saw your name repeated in the edit history, though it might be of interest to you.

Some people theorize vapour trails are chemical or biological agents being secretly released in the air, says Wikipedia, an Internet encyclopedia. Chemtrails refer to systematic, high-altitude dumping of unknown substances for some undisclosed purpose. Theories proposed for their purpose include atmospheric and weather modification, biological warfare, mind control and military uses. -- Kerry Hall's "Contrails: a problem all their own", Parksville Qualicum News

When I thanked the newspaper for referencing us in the article, the reporter replied that Phil Austin, a cloud physicist at University of British Columbia (who was quoted in the story), thought this was a good explaination of the topic. Thumbs up, everyone who worked on this! -- Zanimum 17:12, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've discovered a way to see all my pics since I began on WP in January 2003. Look here for the list. Beware that a tiny number are other peoples pics that I've improved so just check I say I took it - Adrian Pingstone 17:17, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
... and of course there is also the Gallery tab that should be visible near the top a User page on Commons. That links to one of Duesentrieb's tools that shows all the images they have uploaded to Commons. It should give a result like this - of course for a user like Adrian, that gives a considerable number of pages to look through @-) -- Solipsist 20:15, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have some more information on Image:Gem.pebbles.800pix.jpg? Did you make it? If not, could you please indicate a source for it. I know it was uploaded long ago, but if you could clear up the copyright info on it, I'd be most grateful. --Kevin_b_er 03:55, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for writing. Yes, the pic was made by me and is PD. I've changed the PD copyright message to the one it should have been, and added a sentence about how I made the pic. I've been blocked

For reasons unknown to me I've been blocked from editing because it appears I share an IP (195.188.152.10) with Milly on Mheels who has been blocked. Clear me as soon as possible please. I've been editing on WP since January 2003 and this has never happened before.
Block details:
Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing. You were blocked by Doc glasgow for the following reason (see our blocking policy): Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "Milly on Mheels". The reason given for Milly on Mheels's block is: "user". Your IP address is 195.188.152.10.
- Adrian Pingstone 17:03, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Autoblock lifted. Sorry for the inconvenience. You yourself were not blocked and your reputation is intact. When we block a vandal, the system also blocks the vandal's IP address in order to stop them from continuing vandalising. Mostly this is a good thing. Sometimes, a genuine user gets caught up in what we then call "collateral damage". You acted correctly in bring attention to the problem and thanks for being reasonable about it when you have a right to be annoyed (at the software: there's nothing the editors can do about it, I'm afraid). With luck, you're now free, but call me (using the {{unblock}} template again) if you're still caught. Happy editing! ЯEDVERS 19:18, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Naked man mural

Hi Adrian,

I've a photo request for you (not urgent, but just if you happen to be passing). Could you get a shot of this graffitti/mural by Banksy - apparently its on the side of the Sexual Health Clinic in Frogmore St. It looks like Banksy's has a rising profile and his stunts are growing in size, so he could be quite interesting and an artist to watch. -- Solipsist 08:59, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for my late reply. Yes, I certainly will photograph his drawing, I'll do it in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for alerting me - Adrian Pingstone 19:06, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've been blocked again, only 6 days after the first blocking discussed above

{{unblock|I've done nothing whatever wrong, I just happen to share an IP with someone else}} For reasons unknown to me I've been blocked from editing, by Essjay, because it appears I share an IP (195.188.152.16) with someone who has been blocked. Clear me as soon as possible please. I've been editing on WP since January 2003 and this has now happened twice in 6 days, It's highly irritating for this to happen to a respected long-term contributor.

Hi Arpingstone. I'm looking at it now. Sorry for your trouble. --Guinnog 17:34, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked again

Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing. You were blocked by Freakofnurture for the following reason (see our blocking policy): hive of scum and villainy, used by Willy on Wheels or wannabe vandal on various dates spanning more than one year Your IP address is 195.188.152.16. {{unblock|It isn't me you want to block. I'm blocked now for the third time in 6 days,. If you want an experienced picture contributor (1500 pics so far) to quit WP this is a great way to achieve it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!}}

Don't worry. I will take care of it. I'm very sorry you've been caught up in this again. --Guinnog 18:07, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's odd Adrian. It is coming up as already having been unblocked. Can you try again for me please? --Guinnog 18:16, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid that thanks to immature jerks, the only way around this is to ask your ISP for a static IP address if possible. For a full explanation of what's happening see Wikipedia:Autoblock. --  Netsnipe  ►  18:16, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Still blocked by Freakofnurture on my IP of 195.188.152.16. Can't miss the 7.30 Soap on TV then my son will want the computer for the rest of the evening so I'll not be back on for about 4 hours. Sorry I lost my cool just now, thanks for your efforts - Adrian Pingstone 18:31, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ach, I don't blame you. I would have been annoyed too. This was a new one on me and I will read up on it some more. Does that mean you are assigned a new IP address each time you boot up/log on? If that were the case, rebooting would be worth a try. I don't really know what I am talking about though. Ultimately you may have to follow Netsnipe's advice above. Best wishes --Guinnog 18:39, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
A quick look, in the advertising break, shows me able to edit again! Hooray!Back to the Soap now (Coronation Street). Next time I'll try your reboot idea and if that doesn't work I'll contact my ISP (Telewest Broadband). Thanks again - Adrian Pingstone 18:44, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(Originally written before you replied and I edit-conflicted with you. Still, I was sincere so the following still stands!)

Hi Arpingstone! I'm sorry to find you caught in collateral damage again: really sorry - you are a valued and respected editor and this doesn't help you out. As you can see, other valued editors also value you and are researching what can be done. We will all try to help you, please bear with us.

If you don't already know what is happening to you, please read Wikipedia:Autoblock. This explains how things here work and don't work. Emphasis, in these cases, on the latter. You might also be interested in Wikipedia:Advice to AOL users. This may not apply to you directly, but the advice is generally useful.

As I say, I join Guinnog and Netsnipe in being upset I can't help you more and more often. If you come back to the computer and are still blocked, please accept my apologies and put the {{unblock}} tag up again, with a copy-and-paste of the entire message you get. We'll try to move quickly on it. ЯEDVERS 18:50, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I really appreciate the messages from all of you (Guinog, Netsnipe and Redvers). I'm calmed down now, I only got in a strop because this has never happened to me since I joined WP in January 2003 (haven't I been lucky!). I know what to do now (i.e. post the Unblock Notice with full details). I also know that I can wait 24 hours (which would be quite a good thing because my wife complains frequently about how little cooking/gardening/DIY I do) and contact my ISP for a static IP and try rebooting. Best to you all - Adrian Pingstone 19:03, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Block Four

Here we go again, third block this evening, rebooting didn't work. Is it possible to make an unblock that will stick?

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reasons:

Autoblock of 195.188.152.16. Apologies again.

Request handled by:  Netsnipe  ►  06:01, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • All our logs are showing that both your IP address and your username is unblocked. I can't even unblock because it says you're already unblocked. Not only that, but I've been hunting through several months of block logs and can't locate any potential source of autoblocking. I'm at my wit's end in trying to fix this. I'm assuming the above block message is the exact one you are getting when you try to edit an article? --Deathphoenix ʕ 02:58, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm going to try something else. I'm going to actually reapply a block to the IP address but have it affect anonymous users only. This is a relatively new feature and I vaguely remember hearing that applying this sort of block might actually fix some bugs in some blocks. After I apply the block, I'll let you know so you can try to edit something. Please let me know if that fixed the problem. Thanks for your patience, and many apologies for this. --Deathphoenix ʕ 03:01, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've reapplied the block with new parameters. Please try to edit and let me know if it's successful. --Deathphoenix ʕ 03:06, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Try rebooting your modem (unplugging it for about a minute) instead of your entire computer instead. Sometimes that changes your IP address. (vandals do that too to cause as much collateral damage as possible. *sigh*) --  Netsnipe  ►  06:03, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

More on the Great Blocking Saga

Thanks for the welcome message, a nice thought.
All OK at the moment, at 8.16am UK time I'm not blocked. Thanks to all my friends for their efforts on my behalf. I'm out now until 2pm UK time, let's hope all will still be OK then - Adrian Pingstone 07:20, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm now partially blocked (2pm UK time), by which I mean that I get a block on about one in five articles. Stranger still, the block is sometimes gone on a second attempt to edit an article that was refused first time. Gee, what a puzzle! However all is not lost, I think I've found a solution so I'm writing it up now in Word and I'll paste it in in 30 minutes or so - Adrian Pingstone 13:55, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK, here's my solution. (I've not tried the idea of unplugging the modem only because I may have a solution). My idea is successful at the moment and seems to have had no effect on my other computer operations (such as running my Norton virus checker, playing music and browsing the net). I needed to get rid of that "nasty" IP of 195.188.152.16 that I seem to have been allocated by my ISP (Telewest Broadband on a cable under the pavement). A cold reboot (including turning power off my modem) does not change the IP. So I had an idea.
I am running on a proxy server (although I haven’t the slightest idea what that means). So I got rid of the Proxy and now my IP has changed to 66.249.**.** (although some ISP finding sites tell me it’s 62.30.***.**) (better keep it a secret!) and all is well. I can edit all articles.
Here’s what I did: I went to any net site (Google will do), and from the top-of-screen menu selected TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS/CONNECTIONS/LAN SETTING, and removed the tick in the PROXY SERVER box (my browser is IE Version 6). The IP has now changed to the "good" one I showed above and all seems to be well. The change away from a proxy server does not seem to have affected my other computer operations. (I hope my ISP will not disapprove of what I’ve done).
Can anyone tell me how this trick works because I'm puzzled. I know LAN stands for Local Area Network but I'm not on a network, this is just a single home computer connected to nothing else (except the net, a printer and a scanner). As a matter of interest, I find my IP address by typing “my ip” into Google and it tells me. Your comments on all this would be most interesting - Adrian Pingstone 14:44, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well I doubt that I can give you the best answer, but a proxy server is an intermediate computer that your ISP (or company) manages to help speed up internet access and reduce network load. If you have the proxy server enabled, when you ask for a web page, say http://news.bbc.co.uk, instead of going directly to the source, your browser asks the proxy server for it. If someone else on your ISP has recently asked for the same page, then the proxy server will already have stored a recent copy and it won't even bother to ask the BBC for an updated version and just give you its cached version. If you ask for an obscure or unique page, such as editing a minor page on Wikipedia, your proxy server probably won't have a local copy and so will have to ask Wikipedia for the HTML, then pass it on to you.
In practice most people using your ISP will have the proxy enabled, so irrespective of their individual dynamic IPs, Wikipedia will see most of the page requests as coming from the IP of the proxy server. If your local vandal is also using the proxy server, the proxy requests could end up being block, but cutting out the middle man makes your edits more individual. -- Solipsist 22:19, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The pic of the Circus isn't really appropriate for this article, since it was designed by his father John Wood, the Elder. Why not put one of the Royal Crescent there, instead? --MichaelMaggs 14:29, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Thanks for adding the picture of the Kennet and Avon Canal (the article is getting a bit crowded with pictures until I write some more text) and I was wondering if you had others particularly of the Locks on the Kennet and Avon Canal as I don't have illustrations for many of the articles. In particular I've had a request for a photo of Garston Lock as it is unique as a turf sided lock. I've got a few snaps of the Bath Locks etc but you are a much better photographer than me & I'm sure you could improve on them.— Rod talk 11:10, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I only took pics at the Dundas Aqueduct and at The George pub at Bathampton. I will take more of the canal but with the good weather probably over, don't hold your breath to see them on WP. It might be next Spring! Best Wishes - Adrian Pingstone 19:06, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK but if you have a good one of the Dundas Aqueduct could you replace one of mine on the article? — Rod talk 19:33, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I do have a better one (IMHO). I can't do it tonight so I'll put it on in tomorrow and let you know on your Talk page when it's there - Adrian Pingstone 20:39, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Talk:ThrustSSC

Hi Adrian, just a note (as if you needed it) to say I am right behind you on the ThrustSCC images issue and my comments implied no critisism of you. Keep the wikistress down! Best wishes. PeterGrecian 14:21, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just found a funny thing: the ThrustSCC website has uncredited copyright images on it! Also this page says contents-media the project's large Internet Web Server installation ... supplies... Full portfolio of 800+ up to date, high-quality, colour, copyright-free, high resolution, JPEG photos ... Thrust Global Radio 5-minute daily copyright free radio reports in .WAV format (during operations). I think there is scope for progress here! PeterGrecian 11:42, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Adrian, just wanted to let you know as a courtesy that I removed your close up image of the right side of Royal Crescent for reasons of redundancy. I've just added a high resolution panorama to the article that includes the whole scene. Hope you don't mind. Also, I was having a bit of trouble with the new scrolling template (tried two different designs before settling - the first had issues displaying the scroll bar in Internet Explorer) so let me know if you find it displaying/aligning improperly. Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 14:35, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of my pic is fine. Your camera is so superior to my cheapo Olympus C750UZ non-DSLR. I'm going to ask on your Talk Page what model it is - Adrian Pingstone 16:05, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm using a Canon 5D, which is no cheap camera by any means (~USD$3500 or so). It is 13 megapixel, but you would be able to get a very similar result with the newly announced Canon 400D or Nikon D80 (both 10 megapixel - more than enough) which are far cheaper at around the 500 pound mark, although they only come with a basic kit lens that has limited zoom. It is by no means necessary to get additional lenses, as many people do use only the kit lens, but as you get more serious about photography, so does the cost. ;-). Certainly though, I could recommend either of those cameras, or even some of the older models that you could pick up quite cheaply second hand if you wanted.
As you start pushing the envelope as far as photography goes, it does become more challenging (eg the higher the megapixel, the more you notice if something is slightly out of focus, or that there is motion blur, etc), but more rewarding too. A lot of my photography is actually panoramic/mosaic work, meaning I'm able to zoom in more, take multiple shots and then use a program to stretch, bend, and stitch them back into a more detailed and sometimes more interesting image. There is a bit of a black art to that, and it isn't quite as simple as pointing and clicking, although the concept is basically the same. I'm sorry if I've gone off on a tangent or given you more info than you wanted. Just let me know if there is anything more you'd like to know. Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 16:25, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've also added a number of new images to the Bath article, and unfortunately pushed a couple of yours out that I replaced. I really did enjoy your aerial shots of Bath from the balloon though. My whiz-bang camera, despite its many features, can't levitate me above the ground as yet. :-) Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 16:28, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Cotswold.aonb.near.yate.arp.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Cotswold.aonb.near.yate.arp.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:06, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Pi-unrolled

I recently cranked out a new and greatly improved version of Pi-unrolled.gif and (why not?) nominated it for FP. Since you commented on the nomination of the previous version of the same graphic, I'd like to invite you to comment on the new nomination. Thank you. John Reid 04:25, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Roof tiled in imitation of thatch photo

That is one fantastic roof in Croyde, North Devon. I want to build this type of roof on a cottage that I am designing right now. I want to get detailed photos of the underside of the curved part to see how it was constructed...any way you can get that and post it? Any details about the design and construction of the roof would be much appreciated.

.

I do have one more pic so here it is. It probably won't help! I was on holiday nearby and I can't go back to ask about the construction (it's 100 miles away from me). You could write to them, the address would be Welcome Cottage, Croyde, north Devon, England
You might be interested to know a bit more about messaging so here goes:
New messages go at the bottom of the page, not at the top where you put it. You could have linked to the article with two square brackets either side of the article's name, as I have done above with the articles name of Roof (notice that the link turns blue, a single click will then take anyone straight to the article where the pic is to be found). Sign your username and the date, if you have a username, with four tildes (the wiggly line thing). On my keyboard the tilde shares a key with the hash sign. Thanks for you message which I've passed on to User:SFC9394 who made the maps - it might be useful if you could contact them direct.— Rod talk 17:25, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:SFC9394 has now updated the map to show SCC & B&W as disused and the Dundas & Avoncliffe aqueducts as separate. You may need to refresh your cache but could you check these satisfy your comments. — Rod talk 19:15, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The 2 aqueducts are now fine but there could be a small refinement to the Somerset Coal Canal. The final 0.5 km of the SCC, up to the Dundas Aqueduct, still fully exists (as boat moorings) so should be coloured in the K&A blue. This stretch is so short that I would in no way object if it was ignored. The stretch runs from the Dundas Aqueduct back only as far as the "S" of the word "Dundas". It might be helpful to tell you that the stretch is 4 millimetres long on my 19 inch monitor, viewing the biggest version of the map - Adrian Pingstone 20:08, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Changes made - I had to update the map anyway to remove a plural from the key! SFC9394 20:37, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Adrian,

I've been trying to put an image of Chinese Tulip Tree on its WP page -- even got permission from China to upload an image of a stamp[2], but that's not good enough. Any image that you can provide would be welcome. An article on the Kew Gardens collection, complete with map, is here[3] - Tony 23:10, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I've no other pics of Kew, I went there on holiday and am now 100 miles away - Adrian Pingstone 19:03, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jaguar XJ 8

Dear Adrian,

I just have a question concerning your Jaguar XJ8. Can you please tell me what the colour denotation is? It looks like Sapphire Metallic Clearcoat 806/JGE or 1806/JHE. Thank you for replying ex ante. Jag Enthusiast Sava

Hi! It would be helpful to have told me which pic you refer to, I've had to spend a while just finding it. Just put the article name in double square brackets, this seems to be the article: Jaguar XJ, car R790 MFE. Sorry, I'm just a photographer who enjoys taking pics of transport, I know nothing of stuff like paint colours - Adrian Pingstone 19:01, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sloping?

As per your comment here, I was wondering what "sloping" meant in terms of that picture. thanks. Towsonu2003 19:32, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks for your question. I don't think you can be aware that the sea shore is always level against the land, it can't be any other way (it doesn't depend on how the mountains might slope in the distance). I saw the slope of the seashore the instant I looked at the picture, this is a very common failing with seascapes. To check, I just pulled the pic upwards until the seashore was running along a horizontal part of the screen, then you'll see it. If you don't understand what I mean please ask again. - Adrian Pingstone 20:08, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, aerospacer and fellow geek! You voted against the featuring of the UTL picture on the (totally valid, sorry about that) grounds that it was too small. Use of Romanian language

Will you please stop writing lengthy chunks of your Talk Page here in your native language. This is the English Wikipedia so most of us have not the faintest idea what you are writing. It's discourteous to the majority of your readers - Adrian Pingstone 09:16, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Pingstone, why should I listen to you? When I needed you you didn't at least answered me. So? Are you racist against Romanians like all other English people? I will use my language as long as I can. :Regards,Arthur, 28 October 2006

Image:A380.emirates.736pix.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:A380.emirates.736pix.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 16:00, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright

Hi Adrian,
How's it going? Please have a look at the page Air Algerie. There are lots of copyright violating images taken from airliners.net. Thanks a lot, Jaw101ie 23:02, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The vandal seems to be Amine2. Other editors, has well as myself, have removed his copyright violations so all's well at the moment. However, this person has since attempted to put the pics back on but we'll be watching! Best Wishes - Adrian Pingstone 14:39, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was in Park Street today and got a decent pic of the Naked Man, as you requested some weeks ago. I've put on two pics, a close up and a longshot to show the surroundings. Thanks for alerting me to the need for this photo - Adrian Pingstone 19:29, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Adrian, that's just what I was looking for. I thought I had found a Banksy stencil near Brick Lane in London the other day, but User:Duncancumming reliably informed me it was actually known as Mr Yu.
As it happens I think you already managed to catch another Banksy on the side of The Thekla, so now that you've got your eye in you might notice some more similar graffiti around Bristol.... -- Solipsist 00:47, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I thought the skeleton rowing was Banksy but I wasn't sure so didn't put it in the article. Now that you say it is him, I've added it to Banksy. I'm not aware of any more of his work in Bristol. Cheers - Adrian Pingstone 10:38, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
At first I thought you had uploaded a crop of the original Thelka image, but looking at the image description page, I suspect that you've been out and taken a fresh shot today. Nice job!
I'd be surprised if there aren't more Bansky's around in Bristol - it would probably be worth talking to User:Duncancumming or others of WikiProject Graffiti. This Web site suggests there is one on Cheltenham Road and there is mention of one on Gloucester Rd here. Cheers. -- Solipsist 21:58, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
