Site for only Hindi movies??

other langauge movies like Kollywood or Tollywood will be deleted by anomyn and other, maybe Hindi, peoples ^^ soo bad guys..soo bad..... New Headline of this site "High grossing Hindi-Movies worldwide"

Slumdog Millionaire

What is the resistance to or problem with adding this film to this list? The total being cited by the people attempting add it, $377.9m USD, is not unsourced, except perhaps by the editor adding it: that number is available from the Wiki article on Slumdog Millionaire, and is correctly cited there from BoxOfficeMojo.com, which, given that it is a subsidiary of IMDB.com, I would say is incontrovertibly a reliable, third-party source, and this film clearly eclipses every other film currently on this list by a large margin.

The only thing I can figure is that it was apparently produced by a UK studio, in which case, I must ask, what is the definition being used here for "Indian films"? This is not specified in the article itself, and there is even another article specifically for a list of highest-grossing Bollywood films, which implies to me that this article is or should not be limited specifically to films made in India, and rather about films by or about India/Indian peoples. The movie takes place in India, was filmed in India with Indian actors, is based on a novel by an Indian author, and apparently nearly a third of its dialogue is in Hindi, which to my line of thinking makes this an unquestionably "Indian" movie, even if the studio that filmed it wasn't based in India, thus I see no good reason why it should not be added. besiegedtalk 18:42, 10 January 2013 (UTC) [reply]

According to the film WP:WikiProject Film, what determines which country a film is from is the country of the production company. It has been discussed many times Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Film/Archive_index. BollyJeff | talk 19:15, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Does this list include gross income from DVDs and music licensing?

If the numbers at BOI include DVD and music, then the following can be added to the lead (reference that it is originally from Cinema of India)-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 16:54, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Earnings from DVD and overseas showings accounting for some 12% of the revenue generated by a mainstream film, contribute substantially to the overall revenue of Indian cinema, the net worth of which was found to be US$1.3 billion in 2000.[1] Music in Indian cinema is another substantial revenue generator, with the music rights alone accounting for 4–5% of the net revenues generated by a film in India.[1]* Potts, Michel W. (2006), "Film Industry", Encyclopedia of India (vol. 2), Thomson Gale, ISBN 978-0-684-31351-1.</ref>

sourcing

For those not on the BOI top 10 grossing list, other reliable sources will need to be provided. It looks like they often mix a domestic in crores with international in $ so it will take someone to do the appropriate math. I will just drop some stuff here. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 17:30, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Enthiran

from our article Enthiran:

However, independent sources like Box Office India remained skeptic and put the earnings at about 255.5 crore (US$32 million) with 186.50 crore nett and 202 crore gross while overseas earnings are around US$12 million.[2][3]

I think we should by the figure reported by the Box Office India JK (talk) 07:04, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
your BOI estimate is made only one month after release, other estimates in many other reliable sources made later have different values. why should we believe the BOI future crystal balling is accurate and everybody else looking at later data is wrong?-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 08:14, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You can not edit on your personal opinion. News paper articles that you are giving, don't specialise in boxoffice data. They gave the data reported by Enthiran producers. Box office india is an independent source, whose sole work is to track boxoffice data. If you do like this,I can give articles giving different box office figures for different films. We should follow a common parameter for ranking.I think you are bias is areflecting in you edits. Please refrain from this..Kumarila 17:43 02 april 2013 —Preceding undated comment added 12:17, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It is your editing to your personal belief that older estimates by a single source should be treated as more accurate than multiple more recent estimates. We can take this to the Reliable source notice boards if you like. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 18:24, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

ENTHIRAN - Biggest grosser in the history of Indian cinema ever.

Enthiran is the highest grossing Indian film of all time as said by India Today ,The Indian Express,NDTV,TV9 and CNN-IBN with grossing of minimum 400 crores.

India Today [[1]]

Indianexpress[[2]]

TV9[[3]]

NDTV[[4]]

CNN-IBN[[5]]

[[6]]

Why do u say that Enthiran movie grossed just 255 crores as said by Box Office India which is an independent website which is related to only Hindi films and not tamil films.

Everyone know that India Today ,The Indian Express,NDTV,TV9 and CNN-IBN are far far better than the independent website Box Office India.

This is not a small problem. This issue is going on for three years. This is not a single person issue but the question of millions. Do remember it and follow the wikipedia guidelines sir. Rajafree (talk) 11:59, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Chennai Express worldwide gross

It is written that chennai express world wide gross is 3.17 billion (317 crore) That is wrong that is the world wide collection. The world wide gross is 3.88 billion(388 crore) crore as of Tuesday 27 August Worldwide gross=domestic+oversea+entertainment tax Here is the link http://www.boxofficecapsule.com/boxoffice-collections.aspx?id=1688 Confirmed by taran Adarsh,n bollywood hungama Look at the worldwide gross not world wide collection World wide gross

As of 28 August the exact amound will come in the evening ill give the link in the evening. Moreover, I check yesterday that enthiran world wide gross is 4.02 billion(402 crore) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.24.166.0 (talk) 05:46, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fake regional records

Dear sir

User:Radharani11 and other IP addresses are revert warring on this article. Please take action. They seem to be fans of actors Rajinikanth, Surya, Vijay, Ajith and trying to create false image to boost super-ego. They are removing links that do not support their POV. They are trying to turn hearsay and wishlist into facts. I suspect User:Radharani11 to be a sock puppet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.193.44.92 (talk) 16:28, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

LOL maybe there are movies of Rajinikanth, Surya and so on which are in the Top 20 of this List ?? In India exist other languages too not only Bollywood.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Titanit (talk • contribs) 09:05, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Endhiran

Endhiran clearly is the highest grossing Indian film.BOI says its gross in Tamil itself is 255 Crs.Its Telugu version earned 69 Crs.And hindi version over 30 Crs.Overseas is different. The 179 mentioned there is the revenue earned by producer.Everything is cleared in this article. Its total goes over 400 + Crs.Easily the highest Indian grosser. http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/8077844-enthiranrobot-collected-444-crore-worldwide Post right info! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.195.65.205 (talk) 18:47, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That is an example of irresponsible media speculation. Hindi population is 7 times larger than Tamil population. Anyway, Enthiran flopped miserably in Bollywood. Raanjhanaa was a much bigger success story there. The 179 crore figure is the global gross revenue from theatricals and rights. Dabangg and My Name Is Khan grossed more than Enthiran as they released in more screens and higher marketing buzz. Also, several Enthiran distributors claimed losses due to high pricing for Tamil version. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.193.39.208 (talk) 03:12, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Update This Article

So till now most of the websites are showing Chennai Express In the first position with a gross Income in Indian Films worldwide of Rs 420 Crores. With domestic gross income of Rs 301 crore and International collection is Rs 119 crore and domestic net collection is Rs 226.70 crores.
I want to give some of the links which are the proof to my statement
http://www.filmjagat.com/2013/09/chennai-express-box-office-journey.html
http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2013-09-29/news-interviews/42481965_1_chennai-express-aamir-and-salman-talaash
http://www.koimoi.com/box-office/chennai-express-box-office-journey-comes-to-a-halt-at-420-crs-gross-globally/
These sites are giving the latest informations all other are old. So I request to update this Article. And talking about "Slumdog Millionaire" this is not at all included in Bollywood film. Its directer, producer, screen play, Editor, distributor all are of US and even the investment and taxation are in US dollar. So it is a Hollywood film.
About Rajnikant's Robot the link http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/8077844-enthiranrobot-collected-444-crore-worldwide is not giving the correct information. It can be confirmed from the data showing 3 Idiots with income of Rs 339 crore which is not, the gross worldwide income of 3 Idiots was Rs 392 crore, which has been now beated by Chennai Express with gross world wide income of Rs 420 crore till now.
Again this link show the correct income of Robot http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/robot+rajini=rs-300-cr/1/115629.html
So I request to update this article as soon as possible with list like this
1st Chennai Express with Rs 420 crore
2nd 3 Idiots with Rs 392 crore
3rd Ek Tha Tiger with Rs 310 crore
4th Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani with Rs 301 crore
5th Enthiran with Rs 300 crore

Also add Telugu film Attarintiki Daredi Gross collections 230 crore

chennai express grossed 4.22 billion

chennai express grossed 4.22 billion (422 crores) till date reference 1)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest-grossing_Bollywood_films 2)http://www.koimoi.com/box-office/chennai-express-box-office-journey-comes-to-a-halt-at-420-crs-gross-globally/ Karansangaj06071995 (talk) 06:53, 28 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done: your source states 4.20, not 4.22. BOI still says 3.95. As both sources are identified in the lede as reputable, I've kept both figures. --Stfg (talk) 14:29, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Instead of reverting that and calling the editor who took the trouble to do it a "newbie" while leaving bits of the edit summary splattered at the top of the page, perhaps it would be better to edit the first sentence of the lede, which currently says "... as reported by sources such as Box Office India,[1][2] Bollywood Hungama, Koimoi, and other reputable sources". --Stfg (talk) 20:00, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, the WP:NPOV policy states: "Neutrality requires that each article or other page in the mainspace fairly represents all significant viewpoints that have been published by reliable sources, in proportion to the prominence of each viewpoint in the published, reliable sources." (First sentence of WP:WEIGHT). So how can you prioritise one reliable source over others?
And yet another thing: that consensus one of you claimed on my talk page doesn't exist. I've just read this whole talk page. No agreement was ever struck to favour BOI at the expense of the others. See this edit, and this for other views. --Stfg (talk) 20:35, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Merge discussion

There are numerous different articles about one basic thing - revenues of Indian films. All this needs to be consolidated and properly defined, as the current maintenance of several such articles is a mess, an article maintenance problem, and there is bound to be plenty of contradictory details among them all. In the merged article, the top-grossing films would be centralised, ideally with separate columns for domestic and global returns. The "Hundred Crore Club" concept could be mentioned, as this seems to have sources, but it boils down to a list of top-grossing films. Furthermore, it might be appropriate and clearer to rename this article to List of highest-grossing Indian films. This multi-way merge will take some work, but is clearly justified in view of the current redundancies. Dl2000 (talk) 04:47, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Partial Support as per the reasons given above by Dl2000 but I oppose the merging of Bollywood figures into that of all the Indian films. Please wait for the discussion at the article's talk page to complete. - Jayadevp13 05:35, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • support - although the "100 crore club" article probably could survive as a text only article that talks about the concept of the "club" - not lists of the individual films, etc.-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 12:10, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per Jayadevp and TRPoD above, just the films, and not the Bollywood figures. Ruby Murray 12:54, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: My suggestion is, the final version of merged article should contain only CBFC certified films. Not be biased an bollywood or kollywood or tollywood or any other, since it could raise some issues/disputes. I oppose for the concept of 'Hundred crore club', it seems additional glorification for the films more than the revenue mentioned. --βα£α(ᶀᶅᶖᵵᵶ) 13:20, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Partial Support Well, it's a good idea to merge related articles into one and make it accessible to internet user in on go, however, Bollywood is the oldest among its local contemporaries with its own rights, figures, values and representation, therefore, I'm of the opinion as User:Jayadevp13 of representing just the films in List of highest-grossing Indian films but Bollywood figures. Bolly. figures should be represented in List of highest-grossing Bollywood films itself. Salman 11:04, 3 January 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Samsujata (talk • contribs)

@Dl2000, TheRedPenOfDoom, Ruby Murray, Balablitz, and Samsujata: Added Bollywood highest grossing films by month to the merge list. I thought that I should inform you all about it. The article has been maintained comparatively well till now though. - Jayadevp13 16:41, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
