← 2011–12 |
The 2012–13 IFA Premiership (known as the Carling Premiership for sponsorship reasons) will be the fifth season since its establishment after a major overhaul of the league system in Northern Ireland. The season will begin in August 2012, and end in April 2013.
Linfield are the defending champions, after winning their 51st league title last season.[1]
Teams
2011–12 IFA Championship 1 winners Ballinamallard United were promoted to this season's Premiership, with last season's bottom-placed Premiership club Carrick Rangers replacing them in Championship 1 after only one season in the top flight.[2][3]
Championship 1 runners-up Newry City lost out on promotion, as last season's 11th placed club Lisburn Distillery defeated them 3–2 in the Promotion/relegation play-off.[4]
