Check Your History

Since you have your account back, see if anything in my edit is of interest. I took the courtesy of deleting it only because of the retired template. And welcome back, glad to see a retired Wikipedian return! =) CycloneGU (talk) 01:55, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have removed your A7 speedy deletion from this new article as the guidelines make it clear that it should not be used on schools. Please take some time to have another look at WP:CSD. Thanks (talk) 03:40, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RFA

I'd like to suggest you un-transclude your self-nom (your call, of course). I don't think it will work since you've been gone so long. People sometimes start holding it against a candidate if their first 2 RFAs fail; maybe if you pull this before anyone votes, people won't count it as a real RFA. - Dank (push to talk) 01:38, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If a second RFA fails, then maybe I'm not meant to be an admin :D heh. In all honesty, I feel like if people actually look at my contribs rather than edit count, they may see things differently. I had a number of supports last time with 3 months and ~1000 edits. I know what I'm doing, I can use the bit to improve the project, and it's not like I'm gonna go squirrelly and delete the main page. I appreciate your concern, but I'm going to leave it up. I just hope people actually look at what I've done instead of opposing straight off X's tool :) Thanks, MacMedtalkstalk 01:42, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry to tell you that I closed your RfA early. With a tally of 2(including one moral support)/6/0, I'm afraid the chances of it being successful were very slim and the drama of a pile-on oppose is not in the best interests of you or the community. You might find it interesting to read my longer-than-normal rationale for closure and I hope you won't take it too personally. I've seen plenty of third and fourth attempts succeed in my time at RfA. I've even seen a seventh pass. My suggestion would be to spend the next 3-6 months keeping a stable level of activity and making yourself useful around the place. You don't need to average 1,000 edits a month or edit every day without fail, but you need to show that giving you a mop would be a wise investment in that it would be used, and used well. The latter doesn't seem to be in doubt—some of your opposers, including Dank, seemed to say that you were unlikely to use it poorly—but the former is. Do feel free to ping me if you need anything, otherwise, I'll look forward to your next RfA in the summer or early autumn. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 03:46, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate your early close. I was planning on withdrawing but you got there first ;) heh. I plan to just carry on as I have been and hopefully take another shot later on. Regards, MacMedtalkstalk 11:30, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to echo what HJ Mitchell said above. I saw your RfA soon after it was transcluded, and I had a look over some of your contributions before I checked your edit count - and I saw good stuff. I was going to dig further this morning, but I was too late as it had already been closed (and I think the Opposes were pretty constructive really). I think you are admin material, but as suggested, the problem is really just that there isn't enough recent work for people to be able to inspect. With another 6 months of regular contributions behind you, I'm already pretty convinced I'll be able to support your next RfA. Admin coaching

Hey MacMed,

I'm sorry that your 2nd RfA turned out the way it did. The main reason for opposition was exactly as I had anticipated: a Wikibreak that was too recent, too long. But don't sweat it. I've already prepared some new admin coaching exercises at User:MacMed/Admin coaching/AfD. Do them at your own pace whenever you feel inclined to, and I'll provide feedback for each one.

Question about name change

Thanks for making the spelling correction to Max De Pree. Last month I submitted a contested request to move Soviet submarine K-222 to "Papa Class Submarine". There was a lengthy discussion, and the editors could not reach a consensus. I thought the change would then be referred to the "change page" for evaluation and decision by Wiki Administrators, but it has never appeared there. What's up? - Ken keisel (talk) 23:46, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not a problem. :) The reason it didn't show up on requested moves is that the template was not transcluded. You have an archived discussion and no move template. In any case, an uninvolved administrator is the one who closed the request as no consensus in the first place. You would have to put another {{movereq}} template on the talk and have another discussion before an administrator would reconsider. Regards, MacMedtalkstalk 23:56, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
    • Was the uninvolved administrator supposed to do that? I was under the impression that all move requests without consensus were supposed to go to the requested move page to be settled. - Ken keisel (talk) 17:47, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to have you back :) also, an interface is in the works. DQ and EdoDodo are building it, dunno the ETR but probably within hte next year or so. —Ancient ApparitionChampagne? • 7:10pm • 08:10, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to ask some questions about the endorsements idea without distracting from the "Eureka" thread on this temporary talk page. Thanks. - Dank (push to talk) 00:18, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
