Welcome!

Hello By78, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, some of your edits have not conformed to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy, and have been reverted. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a great page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Wikipedia Boot Camp, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  -Mysekurity 04:59, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Go Seigen

I have gone back and put back my edit. There appear to be a few things we do not agree on, but here is my two cents: First of all, the ordering of surname and first name should be along the lines of Asian tradition in order to show proper respect to the individuals whose names are mentioned. Having studied East Asian culture and interacted with quite a number of people native in Korea, Japan, and China, I have found that they all prefer to have their names, when appearing in Western literature, ordered with last names first. It is quite disrespectful to have their given names appear before their last names. If Wikipedia has a particular policy dictates otherwise, well, it is simply WRONG. If you read Japanese or Chinese, which I do, you would find that Japanese and Chinese sections of Wikipedia honor the Western tradition of ordering first and last names (i.e. first names first, last names last).

I agree on how the names should be that way. The articles for those players were that way when I created them, but since Wikipedia instilled this new policy, they must be listed this way on Wikipedia.

Second, Go Seigen's affliation should be "honorary member of the Nihon Ki-in", NOT "retired". It does NOT make any sense to state one's affliation as "retired". That is NOT the definition of the word "affliation". Thus, to indicate that Go Seigen is currently retired, it must be assigned to the category of "status".

I had not included this because I was incorporating the set template. My mistake.

Third, you added that Hashimoto Utaro would go on to found Kansai Kiin in the section listing Go Seigen's jubango opponents. This simply is NOT needed, as the entry focuses on Go Seigen, and should you feel you want to inform readers of Mr. Hasimoto's achievements, it should be added to his respective Wiki entry.

The reason I listed that is because it adds light to the fact that at the time, Utaro was a respectable go player and that Go Seigen defeating him was a noted achievement.

Lastly, it is convenient for the readers to have links to the various concepts and names mentioned in the article. This is simply good sense.

It is convienent, but especially with a long article like that, extra links leads to extra loading times. Not everyone has a fast connection, and I would doubt anyone would want to wait longer just for a few more links. Can 03:22, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:9Ppromotion.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:9Ppromotion.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Lupo 07:35, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your edits, but care needs to be exercised. Among other things, please consider 1) Describing each edit with the Edit Summary box (above the Save Page button), 2) Grouping edits together to reduce the number of edits in the Page History to make it easier for fellow editors to monitor the edits, 3) Using the Show Preview button. Honinbo Shusai

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you may want to do. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

You continue to make large cuts at Honinbo Shusai, without any comment at all, despite being given notice that this is unacceptable. Please note that this behaviour can affect adversely your status of editor here. Charles Matthews 15:57, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You are continuing to edit war at Go Seigen. Wikipedia does not accept edits that are just personal opinions. You are in breach of basic policies by insisting on inserting your views. Only factual matters and comments quoted from others are acceptable. You have been making edits that endanger your status as editor here: removing references in the Shusai article, and using inflammatory comments as edit summaries. I am cautioning you that these are treated as very serious matters. Charles Matthews 16:40, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Your comments only make it ever clearer that you are using Wikipedia to give your personal opinions, on a historical personage. This is unacceptable. If you continue to do this, I will take this to a dispute procedure. Charles Matthews 22:02, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:GovsShusai.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:GovsShusai.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 22:51, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:My Go Equipment.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:My Go Equipment.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 22:20, 8 May 2008 (UTC)==Image copyright problem with Image:My Go Equipment 2.JPG==[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Hi By78!
We thank you for uploading Image:My Go Equipment 2.JPG, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Image change at Go (board game)

Hi By78,

You have recently changed the image at Go (board game). I have started a section on that at Talk:Go_(board_game)#New_image_for_the_article. I have discussed pros and cons of both images there, and have asked whether you would be willing to make a new photo with some of the cons in the current one fixed. Please respond over there. Regards, HermanHiddema (talk) 09:23, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I read your comments at Talk:Go (board game)‎ and would strongly advise you to comment on only on content and avoid making what are seen as personal attacks on other contributors. The combative and aggressive tone of your posts is not acceptable. Tim Vickers (talk) 21:21, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We also have a saying, don't bite the newcomers. I know that TimVickers is well meaning, but I also want to welcome By78 and hope that they are not offended by this advice - as they are aware, it's all just a part of learning proper Wiki-editquette. Oakwillow (talk) 06:55, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Arjun MBT - Edit war?

Hello. I noticed that you and Chanakyathegreat use to revert each other's edit on this article, actually you are even accusing Chanakythegreat of vandalism for putting up referenced material. I find this a bit unfortunate since it doesn't help the article and from what I've read, you both seem to agree that there are several problems with the development of the Arjun, so why can't you just work together? Regards, De728631 (talk) 23:33, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've read the talk page, now I see what's happening here. De728631 (talk) 23:51, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 02:39, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you vandalising the Arjun MBT page

I had a lot of patience and had not reported you to Admins. Now I had done it. Why you instantly revert without any concern for accuracy of the article.Chanakyathegreat (talk) 02:49, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jauerback was an irresponsible Admin, who himself acted in support of vandalism. I had not reported him to violation by an Administrator. He just said I don't care about the content. If the Admins are not taking care about the content, then it will be really bad for Wikipedia. Now tell me which is outdated information. I had only added information after the report submission by the army and the trial conducted after this. What problem you have with it. Chanakyathegreat (talk) 03:00, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Man if you are interested in the correctness of the article and want to contribute in a positive manner, I welcome it. After vandalizing the article and then accusing the other by saying you pushing your agenda, I don't argue with you is not worth it. Such things has no meaning. The only criteria is correctness of the articles. If you are interested you can contribute in a positive manner.Chanakyathegreat (talk) 03:16, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By78, please don't antagonize him by daring him to make changes without consensus. This isn't helping the discussion nor the article. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 09:53, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Compromise

I had replied. What is your opinion?Chanakyathegreat (talk) 16:13, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Arjun MBT page

The real reason for the incorrect version existence and you being able to insert stuff that are wrong is just because the Admins are hostile towards me and not sticking to rules. You cannot answer/prove simple questions being asked and still able to edit the Arjun MBT page because of the Admins (They have still not understood the issue properly or directly take sides). I can wait. No hurry.Chanakyathegreat (talk) 03:08, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have not replied.Chanakyathegreat (talk) 15:33, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't want to force anything of my own. It's left to the Admins to decide which wording they use. The only thing that I asked is instead of saying HM Singh said so, it must be that the Army report says so. The wording can be anything like From the report submitted by the Indian Army it says.. or The Indian Army report on the trial states... etc. It's left to them, i don't have any problem with the wording, only asking the content to be correct. The third link becomes useless because the reporter writes in contrary to the Army report and the Ministry of defence report. Hence it need to be removed. Chanakyathegreat (talk) 04:15, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I again say, i am not forcing anything on them. The Admins have the freedom. I will not complain about the wording. Only asking to remove the errors in that section. If they want the draft for the section to be provided by me, I am ready to provide it. Chanakyathegreat (talk) 08:47, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You are talking about the wording and not about informing the Admins about the edit. I did inform them and it was not unilateral. I made an entry into the talk page in 8th October 2008 in which I clearly explained what I expected the Admins to do to remove the errors in the section. Then asked about the opinion of the Admins by posting the request in their talk page. Not once but repeatedly. Has not received a response until now about what I had requested them. The Admins did act in a unilateral manner and blocked me. Their attitude has not changed. Even now they had not responded to my request. It's about 22 days from my request to correct the section. It's still not done.Chanakyathegreat (talk) 04:56, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
When someone request the Admins to correct a section, it is not done for fun. They must respond and correct the section. And if the user is making the correction, a good Admin must appreciate it. The error is still there and I had again asked the Admins to correct it. Chanakyathegreat (talk) 01:38, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I certainly empathize with you. For some further accusations of conspiracy, lies and blatant misrepresentation of sources, you need only look at his past edits and the great power archive. I hope this current dispute will be resolved eventually. If you need any help mediating and offering a third opinion, please feel free to leave me a note. By78, I've read this discussion and I'm quite sure that this RfA will be declined given the present state and the fact that RfAs should only be filed as a last resort. Let me know if another incident erupts in the future. Good luck. Nirvana888 (talk) 12:41, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
