Rēzekne (German: Rositten) is a city in the Latgale region of eastern Latvia, 242 km east from Rīga. It has a population of 39,233 (as of the 2000 census). It is situated at the cross between the Moscow-Rīga and Saint Petersburg-Warsaw railways. Rēzekne is situated over seven hills.
