Steven Macon Greer (June 28, 1955) is an American physician best known as a claimed contactee.[1]

An emergency and trauma physician,[2] Greer is a former chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, North Carolina, and a lifetime member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.[3]

Greer is known for introducing the close encounter of the fifth kind to describe ongoing contact with extraterrestrials,[4] and for founding the Disclosure Project, the Space Energy Access Systems, Inc. (SEAS), and the Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence (CSETI). He has been supervising a world-wide search for alternative energy sources, specifically those known as zero-point or over-unity devices, with the plan to identify and develop systems which will eliminate the need for fossil fuels. Greer has been seen and heard by many world-wide on shows such as Larry King Live,[5] CBS, BBC, NTV in Japan, Sightings, Encounters, Coast to Coast AM, the Armstrong Williams radio show and dozens of other TV and Radio Programs. [3]

Biography

Early years

He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina.[6] He has some Cherokee and Catawba American Indian ancestors.[7] His grandmother was part Cherokee.[8] His uncle, Macon Epps,[9] was an engineer working on the Apollo Lunar Module.[10]

In the early 1960s, at the age of either 8 or 9, Greer says he experienced a close encounter with a "disk-shaped" [11] UFO. [12]

Back in the early 1960s, when I was eight or nine. Some neighborhood boys and I saw a disc-shaped, windowless object that hovered, silent, then simply vanished. My parents said, "That's very nice" and ignored it, but I knew what I'd seen, and it was life-changing.

— Dr. Steven M. Greer, [12]

On his 18th birthday, he started learning Transcendental Meditation. [13] He attended the Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. [13] Afterwards, in 1974, he entered into teacher training at Maharishi International University, in Iowa.[14]

Adulthood

In January of 1978, at the age of 22, he moved to Israel and he lived there for three years, working at the world headquarters of the Bahá'í religion on Mount Carmel in Haifa. [15] He married his wife Emily in August of 1979 on Mount Carmel. [15] Soon after, Emily gave birth to their first daughter Carmel, who was named after Mount Carmel where she was born. [15] After the birth of Carmel, the family moved back to the United States and Greer started medical school at East Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of Medicine, which he would later graduate from in 1987. [15][16][17] He then went on to study at the Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, North Carolina, completing his study there in 1988.[17]

In 1990, Greer founded the Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence (CSETI), which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to understanding extraterrestrial intelligence.[18]

In July of 1992, Greer says that he and his CSETI team experienced a close encounter of the fifth kind with a "100-foot diameter" [12] UFO while they were on Woodborough Hill, located on a 1,000 acres farm in Alton Barnes, Wiltshire, England.[19]

This thing came within a few hundred feet of us and only 10 feet above the ground. It signaled to us for about 10 or 15 minutes. It was an extraordinary event.

— Dr. Steven M. Greer, [11]

In 1993, Greer founded the Disclosure Project, with the intention of de-classifying and disclosing all information on UFO and extraterrestrial-related issues the group alleges the U.S. government has classified and kept secret.

In the winter of 1993, Greer says that he and his CSETI team experienced a close encounter of the fifth kind with a triangular UFO and the "extremely luminous and white" extraterrestrials within it, while near Popocatépetl volcano on a road towards an Indian village called Atlimayaya, located near Atlixco and Metepec, Mexico.[20]

It was one to three football fields in length. It was massive, about 300 feet above the ground. It had three lights on the points of its triangle and a large red light beneath.

— Dr. Steven M. Greer, [21]

In March of 1997, during an event near Atlimayaya, Mexico, Greer and his CSETI team encountered two soldiers who were carrying AK-47 rifles and who had no insignia on their uniforms. [22][23] Believing they were in danger, Greer and the team prayed for protection from the "Divine Being", which kindly influenced the two soldiers for both soldiers dropped their rifles, walked to a van, picked up guitars and starting playing them, allowing Greer and the team the chance to escape. [22][23]

In 1998, Greer resigned from his position as chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, North Carolina in order to spend more time on the energy and disclosure movements. [12]

On May 9, 2001 in Washington, D.C., Greer held the National Press Club Conference with the intention of persuading the United States Congress into holdings hearings on the existence of UFOs and extraterrestrials.[24][25]

These testimonies establish once and for all that we are not alone. Technologies related to extraterrestrial phenomena are capable of providing solutions to the global energy crisis, and other environmental and security challenges.

— Dr. Steven M. Greer, [26]

In the Fall of 2001, Greer founded the Space Energy Access Systems, Inc. (SEAS), with the objective to develop, produce, and distribute over unity technology, which is technology that puts out more electrical power then is required to run the technology itself.[27]

On May 9, 2006 in Toronto, Greer said that SETI had made contact with extraterrestrials, and that the signals were being jammed by either the NSA or NRO. [28]

We have confirmation - and I'm not going to give the name yet because we are trying to coax this guy out of the closet - but one of the senior most people in the SETI project, which is the Carl Sagan Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Effort, has confirmed to the Disclosure Project, this is one of the senior most people, that they have received multiple extraterrestrial signals ... but that now they are getting external human, probably NRO (National Reconnaissance Office) or NSA jamming of those signals and they are getting very frustrated. The question is why hasn't the SETI project, funded by Paul Allen who's the co-founder of Microsoft, come forward with this information? I'm a little uncomfortable even mentioning this, except for the fact that the public needs to know that this effort, which has received a great deal of mainstream media attention, has actually confirmed to us from two inside sources that they have received extraterrestrial signals and have confirmed them as being extraterrestrial and that they have become increasing in frequency.

— Dr. Steven M. Greer, [28]

Greer reiterated his statement again on July 30, 2006 during a Coast to Coast AM radio show interview that was hosted by Art Bell.[29]

They have had numerous extraterrestrial signals. They were apparently searching in a spectrum or in an area . . . where they hit the mother lode. The signals were so numerous that they began to have their systems externally jammed by some sort of human agency that did not want them to continue receiving those signals... [I received this information from a source in SETI.] This person, if I were to say who he is, almost every one your listeners would probably know the name.

— Dr. Steven M. Greer, [30]

On February 11, 2007 in Los Angeles, Greer announced that he was working with a G7 country on disclosing information to the public about extraterrestrials.[31]

There is a major country in the world - G7 Country - that has decided to do this with us and has invited us to become the primary contactee to precipitate an event with these extraterrestrial vehicles with the full support of their air force, space command, everything, land and meet the leadership of this country with us facilitating this so that this can than be proximally disclosed to the world, and thats what we are doing eminent - what we are working on eminently.

— Dr. Steven M. Greer, [32]

He and his wife Emily have four daughters and reside in the Charlottesville, Virginia area. [3]

Trivia

The witnesses were so courageous, and I wanted to support their right to speak openly in court. Dr. Greer's speech was incredibly strong and powerful. And he said, "I'm prepared to give my life for this cause because this is that important. ' And I thought, "What am I willing to give?'"
