Summary[edit]
Early 16th century portrait (based on lost contemporary original) of Richard III of England, in the British Royal Collections. It shows later alterations to raise the height of the right shoulder and narrow the eyes. The medallions in the upper corners of the painting represent the Emperor Constantine I and his mother Helena. This painting is the source of the later 16C version in the National Portrait Gallery, London.
