Summary
DescriptionMen of the Ingrian Battalion (Er.P6) giving their oath to Finland, East Kannas, Leininkylä, 27 April 1944. Colorized by Julius Jääskeläinen.jpg
English: During German-Finnish negotiations, about 63 000 Ingrian Finns started to be evacuated from the Leningrad region to Finnish territories in March 1943. Mostly civilian population, but among them were also young military service aged men.
There were also Ingrians who were serving in the German army but expressed wishes to be transferred to Finland to fight under the Finns instead (The man under the Ingrian flag in the photo has a German wound badge). After the German-Finnish negotiations, it was decided to transfer these men from Estonia by ship in December 1943 to Hanko.
