This simple flag image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “Golden cross and discs of the Byzantine Empire.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.

Summary

This flag is fictitious, proposed, or locally used unofficially. It has not been adopted in an official capacity, and although it may be named as if it was an official flag of a geographical or other entity and have some visual elements that are similar to official logos or flags of that entity, it does not have any official recognition. A flag of this type should not be added to any articles or pages unless it is officially proposed by a government agency, covered by the media, or sees notable local use.
Description
Warning WARNING: This image is higly speculative and isn't based on any exact depiction, it was made on the basis of the description of the historian.
English: This image represents an early form of the byzantine tetragrammatic cross or the symbol preceding it, depicted in traditional colors golden on a red background. According to the historian A. Babuin, the images of flags with crosses quartered with golden discs survive from the 10th century, and a depiction of a flag almost identical to the Palaiologan design is known from the early 13th century. This image can be considered a possible reconstruction and can be used in some articles and templates as a flag or symbol of the Byzantine Empire, but beware, this image is highly speculative abd should avoid its use in infoboxes and articles, where it could be presented as a historical state insignia.
