English: Model for biomineralization‐mediated scaffolding of bacterial biofilms

A directed growth of the calcium carbonate crystals allows mechanical support of the 3D structure. The bacterial extracellular matrix (brown) promotes the crystals' growth in specific directions. This figure was modified from Figure S14 in (Oppenheimer‐Shaanan et al., 2016).
