Ugh! Let's see if we can't retool some things from older discussions; #1 is from the TFD RFC (which I don't like but consensus > what I like), #2 is from the MFDs
Line 1: Line 1:
#Why are non-articles tagged with rescue? I thought this was the article rescue squadron.
 Why are editors mentioning debates such as DRVs, TFDs, AFDs on the Article Rescue Squadron, is this not canvassing?
#:While articles are the main focus, useful but badly-formed encyclopedia content can be found in other namespaces. If something is badly-formed and up for deletion and you feel it can be fixed, go ahead and tag it with rescue, to see if it can be fixed.
:Answer: Although Article Rescue Squadron does not have a "wikiproject" in the title, it functions like a wikiproject. In wikiprojects editors with certain interests work together to further the goals of the project, this includes discussing all aspects of deletion. The only difference between Article Rescue Squadron and other wikiprojects is that our scope is bigger, to include all subjects of interest on wikipedia.
#Why is this project canvassing a bunch of editors to come keep articles?
:Comment: As an editor who actively supports the deletion of many articles, I object to what Article Rescue Squadron is doing.
#:Ideally, it isn't. The goal of the Article Rescue Squadron is to clean up articles that would otherwise be deleted. By necessity, this involves examining the deletion discussion to see what's wrong with the article, and if done correctly, improves the encyclopedia. If an article you put up for deletion is improved through this process by addressing your concerns and thus kept, you haven't lost. Rather, the encyclopedia has won.
:Answer: Again, Article Rescue Squadron is no different from any of the hundreds of wikiprojects, except for its scope. Some wikiprojects have a active delete agenda, you are welcome to search out these projects for support in your views.

  1. Why are non-articles tagged with rescue? I thought this was the article rescue squadron.
While articles are the main focus, useful but badly-formed encyclopedia content can be found in other namespaces. If something is badly-formed and up for deletion and you feel it can be fixed, go ahead and tag it with rescue, to see if it can be fixed.
  2. Why is this project canvassing a bunch of editors to come keep articles?
Ideally, it isn't.
