I'd like to request AWB permissions, in order to be able to make repetitive and non-controversial changes more efficiently than by hand. I sometimes come across situations where this would be beneficial - e.g., a couple of months ago, I noticed that there were [[Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Lists/Archive 16#Featured lists marked as List-Class|a number of featured lists that were only marked as <code>List-Class</code> in {{<nowiki/>WikiProject Lists}}]]. My current reason for requesting is in order to perform cleanup following the closure of [[Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2024 April 5#Template:R from subtitle|this RfD discussion]] - to migrate the redirects on [[User:A smart kitten/random pages/redirects from just a subtitle, tagged with R from subtitle|this list]] to use {{t|R from subtitle alone}}, & to migrate the rest of the transclusions of {{t|R from subtitle}} to {{t|R from title and subtitle}}. I have read through and understand the [[Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage/Guide|AWB Guide]] & the [[WP:AWBRULES|AWB Rules]]. |

I am editing English wikipedia actively for the last two years after my past work on Telugu Wikipedia for 10+ years. Ocassionally I find the need to make same edit like adding or removing categories or adding or removing templates on a number of pages for maintenance purposes to improve the organisation and content of articles in my areas of interest. Instead of depending on others, I would like to be able to make such edits myself. I made [[Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/Arjunaraocbot |a request for bot flag for my bot account]]. It was declined with the suggestion to use AWB/JWB. I came to know that about 8 out of 31 pages I edited with my bot account were erroneous as the page title and the content were not consistent. I have made corrections required for the same already. Hence I request for registering my account for AWB/JWB usage. ::@[[User:Primefac|Primefac]], Based on my mass editing experience on Telugu wiki, here are few points I usually keep in mind. I will take care to identify the pages correctly which require mass editing. I will check the regular expressions on a trial basis for one or two pages, to ensure that the correction is as intended. I will be responsible for all edits done using AWB/JWB. After the use of AWB/JWB, I will check again on a sample basis that all the corrections are done properly. If there is any mistake, I will correct manually or with AWB/JWB, taking extra care. For edits which require consensus, I will only use the tool after the consensus is achieved. As I am a linux desktop user, I plan to use JWB after understanding the tool properly with experimentation on small number of pages initially. Let me know if you have any other question. Adding champion in events templates to each years commonwealth games athletics results. Already done the mens events manually and AWB would make this much easier. Would like to automate fixing some year in Ireland related links, above suggested edit counts, also want to help out with typos. In case the bot is annoying, I removed one of my earlier requests because I realized the guidlines were for mainspace, not all, edits. Community members have requested that I add a "connected contributor" template to all of the pages I've worked on during my employment at the BYU Library. I would like to use AWB to add that template to all of the articles in [[:Category:Harold_B._Lee_Library-related_articles]]. Since I've never used AWB before, I'm not sure if it's the right tool for this task, but another user said I should be able to add a talk page category using AWB. *:I was the one who suggested AWB...it came to mind because of its [[Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser#Features|list making capabilities]]. It takes some learning upfront, but once you figure it out, it makes the edits pretty quickly. (I don't know if it would speed up this task or not when you add in the time spent figuring it out.) The way I remember it working is you use AWB to make a list of all the pages that meet a certain criteria, like being in a specific category, or being linked from a maintenance page in your userspace. Then you can make a second list of pages that meet a different category, like all the pages you've ever edited. Then you can combine the lists, keeping only the pages that are in both lists (intersection) and voila you have all the pages you need to add the template to. Then you can create an edit that adds the template to the associated talk page, give it an edit summary, and hit the Submit button 200 times. {{pb}}A possible alternative to learning the new tool would be to define a clear task and post it at [[Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/Tasks]] where an experienced user will do it for you. <span style="font-family:times; text-shadow: 0 0 .2em #7af">~[[User:Awilley|Awilley]] <small>([[User talk:Awilley|talk]])</small></span> 16:58, 30 March 2024 (UTC) |

My current reason for requesting is in order to perform cleanup following the closure of this RfD discussion - to migrate the redirects on this list to use {{R from subtitle alone}}, & to migrate the rest of the transclusions of {{R from subtitle}} to {{R from title and subtitle}}. I have read through and understand the AWB Guide & the AWB Rules.
