I have been a user on the account creation userface. I've created a few accounts, but have been prevented by the "account too similar" problem sometimes. I've hung around on the IRC channel for a while, so I'm very familiar with the interface. HOWEVER, I know I have not hit the 6-a-day limit. My main reason for wanting these rights is so I can create the editnotices for subpages under WikiProjects Zoo and Mammal, which I co-coordinate. For certain pages within those projects, it is important for there to be a notice when editing instructing users what to do. Unfortunately, only account creators and admins can edit those editnotice pages. So, I would like the rights both for Wikiprojects and the ACI. - The Arbiter★★★ 01:02, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm hereby requesting the Reviewer right <sic>. I've been reading up on flagged revisions and WP:FPPR related meta activity and noticed that a two month trial has been approved, even though there is no defined policy as to how WP:Reviewers are chosen, just proposals. Since the cart's already before the horse, I thought I'd try to make a horrific crash less likely by making the trial more realistic by actually making a request for the Reviewer right. Wikipedia:Requests_for_permissions/Reviewers doesn't exist, and WP:PERM is of marginal help, but after reading it, this seems the most appropriate place to post a trial request for the Reviewer bit. Getting the cart in gear should help. For the purposes of the trial, I ask that the reviewer of this request act as if the bit can be granted, and the trial has begun, and approve (or reject) it as (like in a disaster preparedness drill) a normal/real request, by considering whether I should have it (and because this is a test, please also be loquacious about how you go about deciding whether to grant it -e.g. what policy pages you look at or for, what you think about, and why you do or don't grant it - your feedback should help the needed policy develop.) Please DO feel encouraged to edit policy pages you look at or for. But, I think it's best if the reviewer isn't involved in the WP:FPPR project, and that we should inform the WP:FPPR community after the review is complete, and point from here to a place where we can have a follow-up discussion of the test. Please don't tell me this is premature or I'm asking in the wrong place. Please consider this my rationale for requesting the right: I've been editing and using my watchlist to keep wikipedia free from vandalism for a while, but I think this will help with that effort. Flagged revisions isn't even enabled yet, and admins nor stewards can grant the Reviewer right as it would be useless, and the group does not exist. As Peter says above there is NO "reviewer" right. If I pull up "User rights management", there is no reviewer box to tick! We cannot set something that had not yet been set up. We may not be able to set the flag yet, but if we can agree the criteria we could start reviewing people against that criteria. If we already have a list of people who can have the flag set it should be simple enough to set those flags when the software is ready, and in the meantime we can give feedback to those who are not quite ready. WereSpielChequers: YES, EXACTLY! We're not ready to test FR until we have a policy in place. We can't have a test if we haven't yet created the thing we want to test. There has to be a policy for assigning rights before the functioning of the FR system, which relies on that component, can be tested. Then don't. What makes no sense is that a test has been approved, but what is being tested has yet to be defined. Since the folks here are relatively likely to be involved in the Reviewer right granting process, I did what I did to try to get the horse in front of the cart where it belongs. You guys, Elvey and the rest, I know I'm a relatively new wikipedia editor compared to you, but you more experienced Wikipedia editors are supposed to act as good examples for the rest of us, and what we see here is just pointless arguing over a topic for no reason, without good faith, that includes unsuitable profanity, and generally a type of behavior most certainly unsuited for senior editors. Relax a little bit! Wikipedia is meant to be an informative encyclopaedia, and here you are arguing about the methods of application of a not-yet-implemented meta-feature of mediawiki? I'm just asking that someone do something that can be done. It requires no new technical development whatsoever. Two responders repeatedly stated that things that I have NOT asked for can't be done; I don't argue with that point. (But I lost my cool after it was made for the 5th time; everyone has their breaking point.) The feature has been approved for a 2-month trial. I use the ACC interface, and I find an IP/email/username which passes all checks, but then when I click on "e-mail passowrd", I get the message Visitors to Wikipedia using your IP address have created 6 accounts in the last 24 hours, which is the maximum allowed in this time period.
