To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.

  • Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
  • Offer a correction if possible.
  • References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
  • Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 08:16 on 11 June 2024) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
  • Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
  • Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
  • No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
  • Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
  • Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

Any thoughts on this edit (a few minutes ago), removing the image that would have been on the Main Page in two hours? Pinging David Levy, SounderBruce, @WP:TFA coordinators . I've been avoiding posting images when we do blurb reviews (immediately after articles are promoted at FAC) ... should we start including images and get consensus during the blurb reviews? - Dank (push to talk) 22:10, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@David Levy and Dank: I do think we need an image of U.S. team members (especially Hamm, the face of the 1990s team), and there's only a handful of free-use media from that era (almost all from a single friendly in 1998). Since the photograph depicts two starting members of the winning U.S. team, in the same uniform used at the tournament, I believe it should remain. SounderBruce 22:14, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, I'd personally prefer using this or some other image rather than no image. If we have to start establishing consensus on the image at blurb reviews, then that makes the blurb review job a little harder, so we might get even fewer people getting involved in blurb reviews. - Dank (push to talk) 22:54, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't edit sports articles but I've written again & again that if the blurb has no image it needs to be extended to fill the space, or it causes balance problems for the rest of the main page. Espresso Addict (talk) 22:58, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. That's an argument in favor of covering image choice at the blurb review. - Dank (push to talk) 23:14, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's unusual to use a photograph taken at a different event when its subjects aren't mentioned by name in the TFA blurb, but I've restored the image and added a caption identifying the players and linking to their respective articles. —David Levy 23:22, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks kindly. - Dank (push to talk) 23:43, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • 1954 Guatemalan coup: Not an error, per se, but SA three days ago included an item related to the 1954 Guatemalan coup. —184.248.251.195 (talk) 05:08, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for reporting. We do usually try to avoid running related events in the same year. Samantha Smith is an FA that could possibly be swapped in. The other suggestions appear to fall into one/more of war focused, geographically repetitive, ran recently or don't seem particularly high quality. I don't believe Howcheng's back yet, but pinging just in case. Espresso Addict (talk) 05:46, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
