=== Micah hainline → Micah Hainline ===
* Current Name: Micah hainline
* Requested Name: Micah Hainline
* Reason: The capitalization (or lack thereof) of my last name really bothers me, like an itch I just can't scratch. I created my original user name as "micah hainline", as I generally keep usernames lowercase, but since wikipedia capitalized the first letter, I'd love to have my last name be capitalized as well. I can't fix it myself by creating a new account, of course, because it would be too similar to my old one.

Changing username/Simple
This page is a forum in which users can request, and global renamers (including stewards) can consider and carry out, requests to rename accounts to usernames that are not yet taken on any Wikimedia project. While global renamers carry out renames, other users (including bots) help by "clerking" the mechanics of this process. If you wish to help as a clerk, please read the linked page carefully.

Instructions
For help 'vanishing' from Wikipedia,
please see courtesy vanishing.

Once you have decided on the name you would like:

  1. Read this page first. You must be aware of, and understand, all of that information before requesting a username change
  2. Check to make sure this username is not already in use. Do this by searching for the name here. If the name appears in the results, even if on another Wikimedia project, it is taken.
  3. Do not create an account under the new name or move/redirect your userpages. We'll do that for you.
  4. Log in with your present username in order to place your request. Renames will not be approved if the requester is not logged in.
  5. Click here to place your request.
    • Add your desired username after NEW=
    • Add a reason for the change after REASON=
    • Do not change anything after CURRENT=
  6. Make sure that you have spelt your desired name correctly, including capitalization and spacing. Save the page. If your request is submitted malformed, please remedy it according to this page.
  7. Check back on this page periodically to answer any questions that may arise regarding your request. Please be patient. It may take a few days for your request to be completed. If you do not answer any questions, your request may be declined due to no response.
  8. Once your request has been completed, please do not remove or change your request. It will be archived automatically by a bot.
  • Requests that do not adhere to these instructions or that are grossly malformed are subject to removal.

Important Notes After you are renamed...
  • Due to technical limitations, usernames may not start with a lowercase letter. However, you may use the template {{lowercase title}} on your user and user talk pages, and change your signature to reflect your preference.
  • Underscores and spaces are considered identical by the MediaWiki software.
  • Use of a company, organization, group, website, or product name as a username is prohibited by the username policy.
  • Please understand the implications of using your real name before requesting a name change to it.
  • ... your name will be changed to the new one in the page history of every page you've edited.
  • ... your userpage and any subpages will be moved to the new name automatically. Please do not attempt to move them yourself.
  • ... links left by your previous signatures will still point to the old userpage; however, a redirect will be left behind to your new userpage.
  • ... your request will be automatically moved to the archives in the interest of transparency.

Current requests

Please note that renaming users puts a large load on the database. Please do not request a rename unless it is necessary. If you have only a few edits, see the alternatives above.

  • You must use the form shown in the gray box below. If you do not do this, your request will be ignored. Don't forget to sign your name with four tildes, as indicated.
=== MyOldUsername → MyNewUsername ===
* Current name: MyOldUsername
* Requested name: MyNewUsername
* Reason: MyVeryConvincingReason. Thank you. ~~~~
  • Check this page periodically to see whether a bureaucrat has fulfilled your request or whether additional information is required. If the request has been fulfilled, read the "Once fulfilled" section for further instructions; of particular importance is the renaming of your userpages to reflect the name change.
Add new requests to the bottom of the page.

Lil_Flip246 → Anonymous246

Note: I'm not sure if that will do as a "very convincing reason"..
Crat: Editor has 5800 edits, target username is not taken. <Side note: see [1]> — Deon555talkReview 01:53, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have any other reason for wanting a new username? It's hard on the servers, particularly when someone has a lot of edits, as you do, so we don't usually change names just because someone likes the idea of a change. Warofdreams talk 23:51, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gilbey7 → trillian5

  • Current name: Gilbey7
  • Requested name: trillian5
  • Reason: Privacy Issues
Crat: Editor has 8 edits, and target username is not taken. — Deon555talkReview 00:27, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You have very few edits, so privacy is unlikely to be an issue. Unless you more specific reasons for wanting to change name, you can simply create an account in the new name. Warofdreams talk 02:25, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This may be appropriate to a decision in this case. Ansell 08:43, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Egober → Inpouweatwiwtdmabstdadiwdt

  • Current name: Egober
  • Requested name: Inpouweatwiwtdmabstdadiwdt
  • Reason: Please change my name for safety purpoes. Thank you. jericho 21:00, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Safety purposes? Could you explain? You'll have to choose an alternative name, because the one you propose would be difficult to use or pronounce. Warofdreams talk 22:16, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

TaronWarrior → IntoxicatedTurtleFetus

  • Current name: TaronWarrior
  • Requested name: IntoxicatedTurtleFetus
  • Reason: I am no longer associated with current username. Thank you. TaronWarrior
Could you explain further? You are associated with your current username on Wikipedia, at least. Warofdreams talk 03:27, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It would be easier for friends and family to find websites I'm currently associated with if I changed my username. I would also like it if people who know current username on other sites would not be able to trace it to here.

GrandWizard → McGrandWizard.

  • Current name: GrandWizard
  • Requested name: McGrandWizard
  • Reason: Some people have problems with my SN. Thank you. McGrandWizard. 22:03, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please log in as User:GrandWizard and reply to confirm that you have control of this account. I suggest changing to User:McGrandWizard, as this is available and does not have a confusing "." at the end. Warofdreams talk 03:17, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
See this users contributions so far for three requests identical to the above, although the crat is probably aware of this already. [2] Ansell 22:09, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Pound → Iver Westdale

  • Current name: Pound
  • Requested name: Iver Westdale
  • Reason: Anonymity and privacy. My original username choice was a mistake and I would now prefer something more anonymous. Thank you. Pound 23:42, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
"Pound" looks highly anonymous to me. Do you have any other reason for wanting a change? Warofdreams talk 03:43, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry but Pound is not at all anonymous - I didn't want to say here - but it is in fact my surname. So can you please make the change?Pound 11:08, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Henry.nutter → Henry Nutter

  • Current name: Henry.nutter
  • Requested name: Henry Nutter

Pumpkin Pie → Shortie

  • Current name: Pumpkin Pie
  • Requested name: Shortie
  • Reason: Shortie suits me better. Plus, I hate this username. I just picked what would come in mind. Also, there's already a user named User:PumpkinPie (without the space). Pumpkin Pie 03:20, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Current name: coun23
  • Requested name: count23
  • Reason: Typo when signing up an account, apparently it isn't taken and i only just learnt that you can request name changes. I would also like to retain all my settings and article contributions, rather then making a new account. Thanks in advance. - Count23 13:51, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ook! Ook! is too similar to the existing account Hhkkhhkk > Ook! Ook!

  • Current name: Ook! Ook! is too similar to the existing account Hhkkhhkk
  • Requested name: Ook! Ook!
  • Reason: Tried registering Ook! Ook! but was unable to due to similarity with Hhkkhhkk. I think the program for detecting similarities is not perfect and is blocking my preferred username, while there is very little similarity in fact. I was unable to register the name normally, so I had to register this and ask for renaming... Thanks Ook! Ook! is too similar to the existing account Hhkkhhkk 16:56, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Weirdoactor → weirdoactor

  • Current name: Weirdoactor
  • Requested name: weirdoactor
  • Reason: I am known as "weirdoactor" on a number of sites and boards. I don't use the capitalized "W" in my username elsewhere; and it confuses those who know me on other sites as "weirdoactor". I know, sort of a lame reason to anyone but me and people who know me. Oddly, I recall using the lower-case "w" when registering, but I think the system initially capitalizes usernames. Anyway. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! -- Weirdoactor 17:45, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
See the instructions above for why that user name change is not allowed by the software. You can customise your signature to show as weirdoactor which may be what you are after. Cheers, Ansell 08:50, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seadog.M.S → Arjun

  • Current name: Seadog.M.S
  • Requested name: Arjun
  • Reason: I've started to be called this anyway by most wikipedians. And also for religious reasons. Arjun has been taken and has not been used so I simply put a dot on my requested name--Seadog 19:54, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately that name is possibly too close to an existing name. See the instructions at the top of the page and the username guidelines for why it is not recommended that people have names which are that similar. Ansell 22:03, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
How about just plain Arjun. The account created for Arjun has no contribs and is fairly old in my opinion. If this is not allowed than how about Arjun01.--Arjun 22:24, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

JParge → ECParge

  • Current name: Julian Parge
  • Requested name: Edward C Parge
  • Reason: Potential embarrassment via Google’s cache through contributions which state false information which was not submitted by me. I'd like my name removed from this website, it has no legal right to be listed here and you do not have my permission to use it. Thank you.

Edwardjcarvalho → Edward J. Carvalho

  • Current name: Edwardjcarvalho
  • Requested name: Edward J. Carvalho
  • Reason: Capitalization and punctuation need to be changed to maintain consistency with my public and on-line identities.
