Don't bother undoing the web page back to its laughably incorrect version. Yea, that version with no cites and authorities, as well as with intentional falsehoods. Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia of facts and verifiably correct facts at that, not for idiots who flunked statistics and want to make it into some type of fallible blog showcasing their own bias without factual substance.

Golden Triange (UK universities)

Don't bother undoing the web page back to its laughably incorrect version. Yea, that version with no cites and authorities, as well as with intentional falsehoods. Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia of facts and verifiably correct facts at that, not for idiots who flunked statistics and want to make it into some type of fallible blog showcasing their own bias without factual substance.

Hi! Thanks for helping me to fix them. I was having some trouble figuring how they work Someone has already answered that question, but thanks anyway. :) I wasn't trying to imply that it belonged to them... anyway, oh well. Again, thanks for all your help! BejinhanTalk 12:18, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a brief update on the latest... :-

  • I've transcluded the new members list to the prior existing members list. There's a redirect on the new members list page to the actual members list.
  • I've compiled the list of feedback given here and placed them on a plan page. Please do go and take a look at them. For the suggestions to be carried out, we need volunteers. At the bottom of the plan page, there is a Volunteer section. Please add your name and include which area you would like to volunteer in.

If you have any questions or comments please leave them here. On behalf of WikiProject Malaysia, BejinhanTalk 09:46, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Dewan Undangan Negeri Perak, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.perakbn.com.my/index/adun.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.)

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 12:24, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

CSBot really sucks when tabular data is involved (and, indeed, at even recognizing it). In this case, if you compare the raw text of both pages, they share over 90% of the words(!)— though that's unavoidable since most of both pages are the list of members of the Dewan Undangan Negeri Perak and their responsibilities. The bot cannot distinguish legitimate reuse of the same data (of which this is a case) and simply notes the similarity. — Coren (talk) 14:50, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've looked at it again and it wasn't the table that confused the bot. Look at this link: it was only two paragraphs. - Yk (talk) 15:00, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Per the WikiProject Malaysia's Plan page, I've "jumpstart" the Collaboration of the Month's project page. Please head over there to vote/comment or submit new nominees. We need your help to make this a success! On behalf of WikiProject Malaysia, BejinhanTalk 03:19, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Espnstar.com 2011-01-13.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Espnstar.com 2011-01-13.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 08:43, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

History merges

Hi there - BTW, I forgot to say, the way to avoid having to need a history merge is to move the page by using the move tab at the top. The move automatically creates a redirect. Sometimes a move is not technically possible, in which case listing it at WP:RM is best. Cheers --Mkativerata (talk) 20:03, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Rome bid for the 2020 Summer Olympics

The DYK project (nominate) 06:05, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

The article Adnan Yaakob has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. –Dream out loud (talk) 00:49, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lolowah bint Faisal Al Saud

I might be mistaken, but it looks like Lolowah bint Faisal Al Saud's just a little short of x5 expansion for DYK, though it's clear you added substantially to it. Would you like to add just a few more sentences and then run DYK check again to see if it makes it? Cheers, -- Khazar (talk) 22:27, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I added a new paragraph and some other additions here and there which should take it across the line. I haven't got a clue how to use that tool, though. - Yk (talk | contrib) 23:21, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just checked it, you're good. I'll change my vote on the DYK page. Nice expansion, btw. --Khazar (talk) 23:33, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Muhammad bin Sharif Othman

I saw that you moved Muhammad bin Sharif Othman to Muhammad Sharif Othman. Could you point me to the relevant extract from the Manual of Style you cited as reason? I have no doubt it was legit, but I'm not familiar with the policies. Icarustalk 04:43, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at all the articles on Malay people in Wikipedia, there's no bin or binti in the article title, because it reflects how they are mentioned by news organisations per WP:COMMONNAME. There's currently a proposal to make that an explicit guideline (over here), although there has been no progress on that front by the WikiProject Malaysia community. - Yk3 talk · contrib 05:36, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. I'd just like you to know that {{Infobox Monarch}} is more or less obsolete in English Wikipedia. Use {{Infobox Royalty}} instead. Also, for the articles about the Undangs and the Tunku Besar of Tampin, {{Infobox Nobility}} is probably more appropriate, since they're not really monarchs or royalty. - Yk3 talk · contrib 05:45, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm... I think I disagree somewhat, but more on that later ;) Thanks for the notification about the proposal for guidelines, and okay on the infobox. I also just saw this on Google of all places! Perhaps we can collaborate? I recently made pages for the undang luak, I'm just doing the last one for Johol now (check my contribs for the rest). Please don't take out the patronyms until I can establish which is standard. I've only ever heard them written with the patronyms, so I'll have to look into it further. Icarustalk 07:24, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, no problem. I won't remove bin & binti from the articles on nobility you created. And feel free to edit the page on my userspace.. I think you probably know more than I do about Malay royalty. - Yk3 talk · contrib 07:38, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Aren't you going to publish it/move it? It looks more than good enough for mainspace... Icarustalk 07:41, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well it's incomplete and not fully referenced. - Yk3 talk · contrib 07:49, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I moved it anyway. - Yk3 talk · contrib 08:07, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia's policy on YouTube linking

Hi. :) Thanks for working to improve Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. I'm afraid, though, that the youtube video I've just removed can't be used on the English language Wikipedia as it is clearly not hosted by the news agency itself but was uploaded by somebody named "dunebasher1971" who has hosted a diverse assemblage of copyrighted content on YouTube ([1]). Wikipedia's policy (as set out at WP:LINKVIO) does not permit us to add links to copies of work hosted in violation of copyright. Certainly, you can cite the original news source, and if you can locate the video at the original news source can link to it there, but I'm afraid that the Youtube video in question just won't work under policy. I've removed the link, but put a "fact" tag after the information it sourced to invite a usable reference. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:58, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I kinda knew that using a YouTube video was a little sketchy, but it was intended more as a footnote than a reference. Thanks for explaining. - Yk3 talk ~ contrib 20:01, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. :) I don't know who had been removing it or why, but the article is on my watchlist for some reason I've long since forgotten, so it caught my eye when the IP blanked the content, and I realized the issue with it then. It's an inconvenience, I know. Too bad they didn't identify the news program that the footage came from. :/ --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:09, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
