My talk page

What are you referring to? And on what basis am I to be blocked? Halibutt 12:23, Jun 6, 2005 (UTC)

Also, I noticed your comment here. Could you please provide evidence for your accusations - or apologise? Halibutt 16:16, Jun 6, 2005 (UTC)
While regarding Halibutts' recent reverts I agree they are mostly (mostly!) POINT, I am disapointed nobody seems to be interested in fixing the voting policy, which is the source of this. Sure, we can block Halibutt, make him take the entire blame for this policy (or just blame the Poles in general), but is this right? I am dissapointed by yours and many others conduct in this, you are willing to make Halibutt a scapegoat and appear to think that blocking him will make things right, instead of adressing the real issue of loopholes in the policy (and I won't even bring the issue that the entire Gdansk/Vote has been challenged many times on the basis that Chris removed some votes - which I actually agree with but is not the issue here, issue is he had no right to do so). Dozens of users have found time to bash Halibutt, but NONE of them (with the notable exception of Chris who agrees with me and so far have not joined 'hang-the-Halibutt' mob) found time to comment at my proposal for Template talk:Gdansk-Vote-Notice. Blocking Halibutt is not going to solve this issue, at best, it may end with Wikipedia loosing a valuable contributor. And if he goes, I won't be far behind. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 23:31, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Tbere is only one thing I cannot understand. What is this Halibutt's agenda you refer to? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 00:03, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Unless he is lying to me, this is not his agenda. I have talked to him about this several times, and he told me his goal is to show this voting has loopholes, which are being used by German users as well as Polish. I would agree his behaviour broke POINT, but I know he is not a petty nationalist who only wants Polish names, if you check the Gdansk/Vote, you will see he voted for Danzing for certain time periods (as well as did I). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 19:12, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hi - I wasn't suggesting LOTR-ripoff article be kept as is. If you look at this earlier version in the article history, it was originally about a (nonfiction) battle between Israeli and Palestinian forces. Why the author changed it (or whether it was just someone else using the same computer) I don't know. But the earlier version should be kept and cleaned up. -- BDAbramson talk 20:55, 2005 Jun 7 (UTC)

Sockpuppet limit

I noticed your comment on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Fake Ivy. You've probably been asked before, but I'll ask it anyway: just what is the limit for sockpuppets and personal attacks? --Xcali 21:52, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Reply: Thanks. I may use that in the future. --Xcali 22:03, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thanks!!

That test was about my curiosity. I was hoping noone would reprimand me for it. I value this place. Antares33712 22:28, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

What am I doing?

I don't really have any idea what I'm doing right now, I got a message from RickK that said "don't do slander articles". I got several similar messages and I don't know who they are from or what they are about. I'm not sure how to leave a message, or is that what I'm doing now? Anyway, I'm new to the site (as a user) and have no idea what I'm doing. So RickK, can you send me another message and kind of direct me? T.I.A. (thx in advance)

Thanks for your support

Thank you for voting on my RFA. Have some pie! I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer number of supporters (including several people that usually disagree with my opinion). I shall do my best with the proverbial mop. Yours, Radiant_>|< 08:02, Jun 8, 2005 (UTC)

When are they going to decide about Steve's page for deletion, I just did a "major overhaul" to it. WikiDon 10:00, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hello. As an experience WP user, can I just ask you to take a look at Ibrahim 'Ali Salman. I discussed this article on the author's talk page when if first manifested a month or so back, but I agreed to see what it turned into. I think it's a VFD candidate, but I'd liek a second opinion, if you don't mind. Cheers. The JPS 12:50, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, that's what I thought too. There was a lot of poetry on this page, which I suggested me moved to wikisource. I don't know anything about the topic, but I know a dodgy article when I see one. Do you reckon it should go to VFD? A simple clean up tage could mean it could get ignored for a good while... The JPS 21:01, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Re: Adam Lopez

The Adam Lopez article needs verification. I'm sorry, but the highest note on a piano is a C7, not a C8 (classical music deems the seventh octave unmusical). Furthermore the Guinness link only says he has the record for male ONLY for a D7. I have HEARD him pitch higher (a B7 I believe), but that has not been officially announced (in so far as I know). Call a piano and ask how many octaves above soprano high C is the last note on a piano. I bet there will only be one. If not, there would never be any talk of people singing above the top of the piano (as Mariah and a few others can do)

Piotrus broke 3RR rule

Piotrus broke 3RR rule in Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Please block him. --85.206.193.205 20:13, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

What is 3RR rule, so I don't violate it? --Antares33712 21:42, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
You are not supposed to revert more than three times a day. --maru 21:45, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Does that count if the initial page was vanity fluff and they just keeping removing the {vfd} or {speedy} added? Antares33712 21:58, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Oops, see history log for Angel Daniel Figueroa. I edited four times. What happens next? Antares33712 22:03, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Oh, ok, whoooh. I had to replace the speedy on that crap!  :-) Antares33712 22:13, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I don't think I need to waste anybody's else time with this, Rick. If you are not familiar with this case, check Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Zivinbudas. Zvinbudas is resposnible for protection of dozen pages, and he breakes 3RR every day, usually. If I - or others involved - were to report this to ANI regulary, it would take half of a page and probably require a creation of Zvinbudas-only subpage :> Seriously, check *some* selected examples at Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Zivinbudas. Perhaps I should have just protected this page instead of rv, but can we afford to protect every page this vandal touches? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 23:54, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Re: clarification on ranges, octaves, and the like

I read your comments (in Adam Lopez and whistle register) and posted and article on the octave scale. Read it and tell me if you like it, if not I'll speedy it.

Antares33712 22:50, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Wait.......

He does exist!! This is a problem I have. I created the stub, hoping to attract information about him (since he is known to whistle register enthusiasts). With his Guinness record (the D7 in 2003) and career backing Mariah, he is as notable as say Lisa Fischer. The problem is very little exists about him on the Internet. So once again, if it ain't in Google, it doesn't exist. I tracked down some information on him by doing an exhaustive search (which I can do tomorrow), but this a fundamental point I have. notability is subjective and not necessary unencyclopedic. IF this is Adam Lopez himself (and not some Austrailian poser), the edit should be reverted back to the stub before it, which the Guinnes link added showcasing his record for D7 (which conincidentally, I read about on a Joss Stone site, which Betty Wright is her vocal coach, that Adam could match pitch with Betty or something.) Antares33712 23:02, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • I really think its a poser, I mean look at all the edits. Click on the first one at the bottom. He doesn't know his own range? Bb9 (almost two octaves above Mariah and Minnie)? Why was he guessing? I think all of his edits need reversion! Antares33712 23:05, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • No complaints there, at least its due process, but the edits to eighth octave C and whistle register are obviously at least dubious (and likely verifiably incorrect) and need reversion. Antares33712 23:08, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Trivia

What word do you get when you rearrange the letters in the word "Dynamo"? How about "Garden"? --68.170.0.238 05:33, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Nope. You do get "Monday", or "Dynamo", but that is it for single word anagrams. --maru 05:37, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

tyrants

Can you help? Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/List of tyrants user:Philip Baird Shearer is asking what category of deletion under Wikipedia:Deletion policy I am arguing under. The list is, of course, inherently POV, but he's pointing out (correctly it seems) that this isn't a deletion category in itself, and that POV should be argued in the talk page. If he wins this argument - then 'list of horrible people' and 'list of great holiday destinations' would also be legit (and that's just moronic). But I don't know how to answer him... --Doc (?) 12:14, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Re: Artimius Hollins

I'm tired off removing this crap (on whistle register. There is ZERO information about Artimius Hollins, even among my Atlanta musician friends. I don't claim to know everything, but if this guy were so great, I would have heard about him by now!
