Rick, I don't understand what your problem is. The reason for the redirect, as you said, "I have redirected Ourcolony to OurColony.net, as an attempt to evade the VfD. Delete both, not notable. RickK 03:09, Apr 11, 2005 (UTC)"

This is simply not true.

It was not an attempt, and couldn't possibly ever be one, unless somehow Uvulabob27 built a time machine and went back to Apr 8th and created the page.

And what consensus? I see two people saying that it was an evasion tactic and one of them is you. When did two people create a consensus?

I understand you are on a "crusade" to keep wikipedia clean, but you need to learn that sometimes it's okay to sit back, look at the evidence and think that maybe the assumption you made was incorrect.

There is no reason why the two pages cannot be merged. And since Ourcolony is older, why not let it stand, allow the decission to delete OurColony.net come to a solution, and then decide what the best course of action is.

Jonamerica

Rick, I'd be happier to have a VfD on both pages than to have the redirect. The redirect makes no sense whatsoever. The two pages should be merged into one and this matter will go away.

You can't see his face, because its' covered in pie. What is the gamma correction of your monitor set to? t3hX

Ourcolony

I understand your reservations about Ourcolony, but the reasons you gave for redirecting Ourcolony to OurColony.net seem mistaken. I don't want to start an edit war over this, so can I ask you to restore Ourcolony and put it up on VfD separately if you feel strongly about it? Rl 09:27, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I retract the "mistaken" above since Katefan0 pointed out what must have been your reasoning as well. I would still prefer a separate VfD (and I would vote for keeping it because I have found this kind of article helpful before), but I leave that up to you. Rl 13:56, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)

RfC vs Kappa

Hi there! About this RfC... you are presently the only one endorsing InShaneee's summary. However, I must point out that the 'evidence' he used about a conflict between Kappa and myself was posted without my knowledge, and is in fact incorrect. Would you please visit the RfC page and consider if these added facts are grounds for revising your position? Yours, Radiant_* 11:03, Apr 11, 2005 (UTC)

I see that you deleted this article again. I assume that this was because you thought it was repeat vandalism, and that you weren't aware of the discussion on WP:AN/I. There is no consensus that this article-creation is vandalism; indeed four people, all administrators except me, are arguing that the article is not vandalism and that is should be retained, like Slick Willy. Therefore I recreated the article, whereupon you deleted it again. If you disagree that the article should exist (currently as a redirect to List of U.S. Presidential nicknames), I hope you will make your case in RFD/VFD, rather than delete it again summarily. --BM 11:54, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The navya nair stuff

Hi Rick, I was surprised when you recommended navya nair page too for a complete rewrite. That stuff looked very tidy and neat. Still it needed rewrite. Some times sentences becomes very dirty. You may have a look at page Aishwarya Rai. How beautiful she is and how ugly is that page (IMO).

Anyway as this is the routine here I will try to work on meera jasmine stuff and try to change that to sentences. Also on navya nair thing. But you must consider the aishwarya rai page because lot of people reach here through google due to the high page rank and aishwarya rai is the most googled word in India.

Edit: I think You should recommend this page as a example for people like me Britney Spears

Hi Rick, I've once again had to unblock the above, as the block caught legitimate editors too, one of whom wrote to me: even though this is not his IP address, he's being blocked whenever this proxy server is blocked, which I don't understand. I'll post something about it on AN/I for advice. Did I see in the block list that you had blocked it indefinitely? Best, SlimVirgin (talk) 19:33, Apr 11, 2005 (UTC)

There's a vote to keep Smirking Chimp deleted as a redirect here. SlimVirgin (talk) 19:59, Apr 11, 2005 (UTC)

Cartoon Vandal

I think that's a different user -- Cartoon Vandal never edits individual sections.

CV's been active all this time, though; some recent baffling contributions are United States bridge designs and California bridge designs. —tregoweth 23:49, Apr 11, 2005 (UTC)

Intercounty league – candidate for deletion

What about my article on the Intercounty league led you to the conclusion that i was trying to make it sound more important than it is? Seriously – it was not my intent to leave that impression, and I'd appreciate knowing where I went wrong. I have some other comments on the Vfd page. I have no objection to it being deleted, by the way. I just thought it would be helpful to have an article for links already in three or four articles about cities in the league to link to. John FitzGerald 01:58, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Rick, I've been going to IBL games since I was a kid, and I've never seen anyone drink beer during a game. neither has anyone else. The league is a genuine independent league, at least as independent leagues are described here. It is semiprofessional; the import players at least are paid. I originally described it as semiprofessional in the article – would that help clarify things? I also thought of describing it as a sandlot league. The league is important in southern Ontario and its results are reported extensively in major media outlets even in Toronto. John FitzGerald 02:13, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

That's an interesting discovery about the league claiming it's amateur. Could be they changed their policy. On the other hand – and I'm not making this up – amateurism is often defined more broadly in Canada than elsewhere. You're an amateur if you don't make a lot of money. Regardless of whether it's an amateur league or not, it's still important in southern Ontario. I've already seen an article this year on Toronto television about the Leafs.

I'm quite willing to admit that my sense of proportion is questionable here, and I'll defer to the judgment of people who haven't been going to the games since approximately 1958. I can assure you, though, that it's not just a bunch of guys who get together to play a little ball and drink beer. And thanks for answering my questions. John FitzGerald 02:35, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

About your last comment on my talk page, I'm just glad someone here is trying to have a sense of proportion. There are too many articles here about utter trivia. There was some misunderstanding at first about the league, but now that that's cleared up I think people have adequate evidence with which to make up their own minds. John FitzGerald 11:24, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Interstingly, though, so far it seems to be Canadians voting to keep and people from away voting to delete. But then I guess Australians know a hell of a lot about Canadian baseball, eh? I'm also interested by the importance to you and others of its being an amateur league. Emil Zatopek was an amateur. Still, it's an interesting borderline case, and I'm glad you raised the issue. John FitzGerald 20:26, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

the issue of school articles

In November 2003, you participated in a VfD debate over Sunset High School (Portland). The debate was archived under Talk:Sunset High School (Portland). The issue over this article remains contested. moreover, there still does not exist a wikipedia policy (as far as i can tell) over what to do in regards to articles about specific U.S. public school. The article in question has been re-nominated for VfD at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Sunset High School (Portland). My hope is that a real consensus can come out of the debate, and a real policy can take shape. Take part if you are so willing. Kingturtle 02:10, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC) P.S. The history of the debate can also be reviewed and discussed at Are high schools encyclopedic?.

Please remember to post a url of a copyvio is one exists. I have done that for this article. Cheers. Burgundavia 03:36, Apr 12, 2005 (UTC)

Kappa RfC

Did you mean to endorse the Kappa RfC, or just support the summary. (I need to know whether or not to delete it as uncertified.) Snowspinner 13:50, Apr 12, 2005 (UTC)

Request

Hi Rick, could you take a look at User contributions for user:68.11.208.192. He/she has contributed 20 articles with exactly the same text, I'm not sure of the best way to get rid of them --nixie 05:30, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • I think redirect to Book of Enoch is the best way to go, I'll make a list of the names for on the page--nixie 05:34, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC)
