I hope you don't think that anything I said on RfA was anything personal, it really isn't. [[User:RickK|RickK]] | [[User talk:RickK|Talk]] 03:51, 23 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Revision as of 04:28, 23 March 2004

NOTE: IF YOU ARE ANONYMOUS, AND POST ANYTHING ON THIS PAGE, YOU WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT CONSIDERATION.

hey rick, you like to hide behind anononymity.
you rewrite my pages, and then lock them, but have no way to be contacted... in fact, you don't even have the decency to read my note i put on my page to explain to my users/friends/colleagues that i'll be moving this to another site. NOPE, you just act like the gestapo and seem to have nothing else to do for a living. why don't you put the msg back on my page so people can see it and know whats going on. jaymer...

I replied on my talk page. Pete/Pcb21 (talk) 07:53, 19 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Duchy of Pinica

I would like you to clarify as to what you wrote regarding the Duchy of Pinica on VfD. Your statement that it is a sub-province is inaccurate, and I'm not even sure what a "sub-province" is. Furthermore, what do you mean by saying that it's a "fictional micronation"? You do know there might be certain overlap here, as micronations are not generally recognized and some of them do not even pretend to be anything other than imaginary? --Daniel C. New Haven, Connecticut

Regarding New Haven, Connecticut and its rich cultural heritage:

There is an exceptionally fine Pizza Hut Express/Taco Bell/TCBY located at 1475 Whalley Avenue that is of great historic importance and an integral part of the local culture. And the Wild Mountain Bacon Cheeseburger at Wendy's at 71 Frontage Road in East Haven is to die for. This is also the very first Wendy's in the United States to offer a Classic Double With Cheese. Up until 1992, the Wendy's chain only offered Singles and Triples. One day a customer walked in and asked for a Double. Manager Nathan M. Dennison had an inspiration and asked his crew to make a Triple and then remove one of the patties. The result was so successful that the 71 Frontage Road Wendy's began offering it as a standard menu item. When the national chain saw the sales figures skyrocket, they investigated and decided to offer it nationwide. Other pioneering innovations by the 71 Frontage Road branch include outsourcing; this branch no longer cooks burgers inhouse, but relays orders electronically to MicroMex in Imuris, Sonora, where the sandwiches are assembled and Fedexed back to New Haven. P. S. That was a joke. Dpbsmith 19:47, 19 Mar 2004 (UTC)

You got into an edit war with an anonymous IP on Nathaniel Hawthorne. Then you "won" the edit war by blocking the IP. What's the deal here? (You may want to read the IP's edit summaries too.) -- Toby Bartels 01:48, 20 Mar 2004 (UTC)

I agree, that block was inappropriate. I'm sure it was a mistake. Please make sure to check edit summaries in the future, and try contacting the user on his user talk page.—Eloquence 02:07, Mar 21, 2004 (UTC)
No, it was not inappropriate. No, it was not a mistake. If you'll look at the Talk page for the anon user, you would see that I DID try to contact the user on his talk page, but he continued to delete paragraphs from articles without discussion on the TALK page, where they belonged. RickK | Talk 02:11, 21 Mar 2004 (UTC)
We don't block anons for things which we would not block signed in users for -- a protection would have been acceptable, but not a ban.—Eloquence 02:22, Mar 21, 2004 (UTC)
In response to your comment "we can't block signed in users for vandalism", yes we can, and we have, quite a lot of times. It's just that most vandals don't sign in. Rick, it is OK to make a mistake. It could have happened to anyone of us. But I am concerned with your refusal to admit that blocking someone who has explained what he did in the edit summary was inappropriate. Please think about this a little more.—Eloquence 02:31, Mar 21, 2004 (UTC)

Interesting contribution to tag. I've played many games of Hide and Seek in my day (I was a short kid, so I could always squeeze into great hiding spaces), but had never heard of that rule. You even knew the etymology! Thanks! Garrett Albright 03:03, 20 Mar 2004 (UTC)

I am not responsible for the stupid vfd design which results in edit conflicts. 141 01:22, 21 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Hi Rickk, while Trebor1990 youthfulness may partially explain his actions, he does seem to be responding maturely and we should neither discriminate against a participant because of his/her age, nor discourage their contributions. Aren't the majority of internet users young? With some guidance Trebor may be able to become a good contributor, and I fear your remark on their age may discourage that and cause them to leave. --zandperl 03:35, 21 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Newbies

Just a friendly reminder to not bite the newcomers. I know I've made that same mistake myself, so don't take this as an accusatory comment. Dori | Talk 03:56, Mar 21, 2004 (UTC)

Sorry, referring to Bds yahoo, who it seemed to me got a bit more of the stick than the carrot, but I grant that I may not be completely aware of the situation. Dori | Talk 04:02, Mar 21, 2004 (UTC)

RickK, why do you persist in referring to me as a vandal (I am referring to your comments on Dori's page) when it is by now quite obvious that I was editing the page in good faith? With all due respect, shouldn't you phrase that as "You mistook me for a vandal"? It's bad enough you won't admit to your mistake. Why do you persist in making trouble for me? Bds_yahoo | Talk

Barney Miller

Thank god something finally created that article. It was really gnawing at me. The one and only time that I've ever been in a NYC precinct station, the one thing that occurred to me was how, among all the shows that have ever been made about the NYPD, it felt most like this show. -- Decumanus | Talk 06:16, 22 Mar 2004 (UTC)
