Re [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Jeandr%C3%A9&diff=cur], do you want to make a template that takes you to a LoC search page for the supplied ISBN?

If so, then the following may work:

:<nowiki>[[Library of Congress]] [[ISBN]] [http://catalog.loc.gov/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?DB=local&CNT=25+records+per+page&CMD=isbn+{{{1}}} {{{1}}}]</nowiki>

(no dashes or spaces allowed in the parameter).

I think it's better to just use the normal Wikipedia feature that auto links anything with ISBN in front (e.g. ISBN 039453512X) because this also links to other libraries around the world. -- [[User:Jeandré|Jeandré]], 2006-11-01[[User talk:Jeandré|t]]11:51z

Everything OK?

I don't want to be too nosey, but own-user-page-blanking is on my "list of worrying signs". Nothing wrong, I hope? BTW, good call on philo-book- vs. philo-lit-: Category:Philosophy books seems to be the largest unsplit subtree of the Category:non-fiction book stubs. (I won't re-stub these by bot, as "philosophy" is sufficiently broadly I'm sure there's all sorts in there.) Alai 18:16, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, I'd noticed you were keeping up the pace all right, no complaints on that score. :) Let me know if you have further such problems: the admin mob, and if it comes to that, the arbcom, take a pretty dim view of that sort of behaviour (though obviously one doesn't want to draw any more attention than is necessary to such antics). Alai 18:56, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, I'm not sure if there's an identifying information issue here, but if you wish the versions of the article with the abuse to be removed from the edit history, I can help with that. OTOH, if you want them permanently removed (so as to not be viewable or restorable by admins), see Wikipedia:Oversight. Alai 06:45, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Hi Peggy,

Somone I know from CPS was interogated at school regarding this incident, and he was absolutely not culpable for any actions regarding the vandalism on the CPS page. I think the best course of action would be doing an IP check on Therlaener, and i'm guessing that it can be traced to the CPS library or someone's address. I left my account on at my school library, so whoever posted the ad hominum atfter Therlaender's attack was not related, just a random sympathizer. --SeanMcG 19:39, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I want to thank you for your comments and your defense of the person interviewed this morning. I/we never suspected for a moment that that person was responsible for the edit; the interview was primarily to mutually gather and impart information. I hope to reassure the party concerned on that account. Our inquiries are proceeding and I can't really discuss them here, but I hope for a positive resolution, or at least a stop to the abuse. Cheers, Pegship 03:04, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I finally got around to changing my password. Let's hope this doesnt happen again :/

--SeanMcG 15:43, 25 October 2006 (UTC) BTW- Tharleander was alrready blocked by an admin if you check his block log- so they would probably have his IP or ISP if you're interested in finding out if it was at the CPS library --SeanMcG 15:45, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Only people with checkuser privs have access to that, not mere admins. Alai 19:11, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well since this is an obvious case of a personal attack, is it possible to request someone with checkuser privs to check their IP? --69.17.118.144 20:37, 25 October 2006 (UTC)--> SeanMcG[reply]
We have done that already. Like I said, I don't want to give too many details, and thanks to both of you for your suggestions. Let me know if you think of anything else...! Pegship 20:39, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Considering what you've already done, I didn't think it was really necessary contacting my school. We already worked out what happend online, and I had to miss a prestation on Harvey Mudd at my college counseling office in order to speak to my dean --SeanMcG 23:47, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My dean had his reasons for contacting your dean, and again, I could explain why it was necessary, but this is a public forum and I can't go into detail. I'm sorry you missed Harvey Mudd, but you'll have to take up the issue of scheduling with your dean. Thanks. Pegship 23:53, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
if you could email me at seanmcguire89(at)sbcglobal.net that would be great--SeanMcG 03:04, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

The Original Barnstar
For being such a dedicated, hardworking and friendly Wikipedian. Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 21:05, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Pegship, I'm sorry to see that you've been attacked. Sometimes I feel that this project must be cursed since so many good editors are being attacked or driven away (what did we do? Write an article about King Tut?) Anyway, I've been thinking about giving you this star for a long time so now seems as good a time as any.

Don't ever doubt that your contributions here are appreciated and I believe I speak for everybody at WP:WSS when I say that we consider you both a competent and very friendly editor. If you'll allow me a quote from my country: "Courage, Anthony! You have done nothing wrong." (Ludvig Holberg: "The Pewterer turned Politician"). Re:"hoping you listed things right" at SFD

Hi Pegship - sorry, but no you didn't :) I've fixed it up. Basically, if you're the first person to add SFD listings for a particular day you need to make a subpage of SFD and then transcribe it into SFD (add the subpage as if it were a template). I've made the new subpage as Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion/Log/2006/October/26. Grutness...wha? 21:44, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
