:It's probably a bad idea, for a couple of reasons.

:Firstly, you'd have a conflict of interest, and we strongly recommend that you don't write articles about things that you are closely involved with - simply because it is extremely difficult to maintain a neutral point-of-view. For more on this topic, see WP:BFAQ.

:Secondly, from your description, I doubt that it would meet our general notability guideline, because it wouldn't have "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" - such as, for example, independent newspaper articles about the business (not adverts).

:I'm sorry that I cannot write in a more positive way, but I hope that this at least clarifies; I think that you will have a much happier time on Wikipedia if you help us to develop other articles. For more help, you can either;

License tagging for Image:Copy of ebaycarseat 020.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Copy of ebaycarseat 020.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:05, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

You left this user a message on his user page. Please do not edit other users' user pages, and leave them messages on the appropriate user talk page. Secondly, it is recommended that you keep such messages focused on discussing the encyclopedia. Thank you. Leebo T/C 16:56, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help

helpme.

Hi, I am trying to upload pictures to my user page but a frequent problem keeps occuring- what do you do if my pictures are too big and they upload to my user page much bigger than I want them to be? Is there a way of shrinking them?

Regards, User:Jordan5001

Yes, there is a way. Instead of typing name of the picture you type 100px. The number, you use determines the broadness of the image. The heigth will be changed in relation to the broadness. Naturally, you can use any other number. Please look at Wikipedia:Picture tutorial.--Thw1309 20:44, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, does anyone know if there is a way to block people from editing my own userpage apart from myself as I've noticed that some articles are locked from editing.

Regards, User:Jordan5001

Yes, any user may request Semi-protection for their own user page. You can list your request here: WP:RPP. CamannTALK 16:22, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use image use

Earlier today, I removed a number of copyrighted, fair use images from your userpage in the "gallery" section. This was done in accordance with our policy on the use of such images found at WP:NFCC item #9. Such images may not be displayed on any pages outside of actual encyclopedia articles. Thus, their display on userpages is not permitted. Subsequent to this, you restored the images. I have removed the images again. Please do not re-add them, as this is a direct violation of our policies. If you have questions about this, I'd be happy to answer. Thanks, --Durin 15:56, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability issues

I noticed that you recently created two Doctor Who-related articles, Zachary Cross Flane and Scooti Manista, and would like to talk with you about them for a bit. The issue here is one of notability. Wikipedia isn't intended to be a source of absolutely all knowledge we can possibly fit in (See WP:NOT). In order to determine what is deserving of an article, we generally use two standards: Verifiability and Notability.

While the articles you've written easily pass the verifiability standard (for fictional characters, primary sources are sufficient), they don't, however, pass the standard of notability. The reason for this is simply that these characters only appear in a single (two-part) episode of a very long-running series. If the episode's article is written well enough, it should already contain all the information we need on these characters. If you feel that it isn't, feel free to add in that info yourself.

However, in the end, we really don't need these articles to exist. We do appreciate your enthusiasm and the work you've done in creating them, however, and hope you won't be discouraged. If you want to preserve the content of the articles before they get deleted, I recommend copying them to your userspace for your reference (for instance, at User:Jordan5001/Sandbox). I'm going to put up a proposed deletion template on the pages, so you'll have a week or so to do this (also, it allows you to oppose the deletion if you feel strongly enough about it).

Finally, if you're ever looking for other things you can do to help out, there's a To-do list at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Doctor Who with some suggestions. Good luck and good editing! --Infophile (Talk) (Contribs) 13:22, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Little context in Mr Jefferson (Doctor Who)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Mr Jefferson (Doctor Who), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Mr Jefferson (Doctor Who) is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Mr Jefferson (Doctor Who), please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 15:54, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Harry Potter roll-call

Hi there. Your username is listed on the WikiProject Harry Potter participants list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active on the project. Your name has therefore been moved to a "potentially inactive" list. If you still consider yourself an active WikiProject Harry Potter editor, please move your name from the Potentially inactive list to the Active Contributors list. You may also wish to add User WP Harry Potter to your userpage, if you haven't done so already. Conversely, if you do not wish to be considered a member of the WikiProject, leave your name where it is and it will be moved to the Inactive Contributors section. If you wish to make a clean break with the Project you may move your name to the Known to have left section. Many thanks.

Hi, does anyone know how I can rewrite a page in a different language, ie. my userpage in French. Jordan5001 16:11, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For a rough translation, you can type the text of the page into the form here. –Animum 16:37, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

helpme

Yes, hello again. That explained how to translate the original english version into a different language but does Animum or anyone else know how to actually get the translated version of the page onto Wikipedia itself so it appears in the left-hand column toolbar in the "in other languages" section? Thanks again!! Jordan5001 14:17, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To show a french version of an aticle in the "other laguages" section, there has to be an article with the same subject in the french wikimedia. By adding fr:name of the article, this article is shown in the toolbar and there is the possibility to gain direct access to this article. It´s the same with all the other languages. If the article does not exist, you first have to open an account on French Wikipedia and write the article. --Thw1309 14:39, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I've recently created a disambiguation page (Albert Valentine), and as you can see, the link I've put to Albert Valentine is unspecified, so it should lead to the disambiguation page, but it doesn't. Does anyone know how to make an unspecified link go straight to the dis"" page? Thanks guys Jordan5001 17:08, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If there isn't an article at Albert Valentine already, you can just move the disambiguation page there. (There should be something at the page name corresponding to a disambiguation page, either the disambiguation page itself or one of the things it disambiguates, to avoid this sort of problem.) Hope that helps! --ais523 17:10, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Is Wikipedia a British or American website? I've noticed some pages are written in American-English and some are in British-English. I'm British myself, so if I see something like "color", should I leave it as it is or change it to "colour"?

Also, could the person who replies to this give me the link to the page on Wikipedia about things like this so I can take a look (if there is one)? Thanks everyone! (Or dudes, if you're American!) Jordan5001 (talk) 21:44, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Damian Samuels

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Damian Samuels, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add db-author to the top of Damian Samuels. h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 09:30, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help

helpme

Hi everyone,

1. Two quick questions; can users create their own sandbox as a page on Wikipedia for people to make edits to? Example: User:Racoonieboy:/Sandbox.
2. Also, I'm not sure if it's just admins who can do this - if I can, how do create a new page linking to my account? For example, how would I create a new page just to show the articles that I have created, (User:Jordan5001/Articles)? Would I have to create like I would any article on Wikipedia?

Hi Jordan5001,
To answer your first question, yes, Users can, I have my own Sandbox at User:Thehelpfulone/Sandbox. To answer your second question, I can't be sure, but you could try creating the page and then redirecting it to your contributions. You could try linking something to this log or something like that, though I couldn't be sure. You may have to manually create the page in your userspace and then add the articles that you created on there. I hope this helps! Removal of category from your userpage

Hi. In enacting consensus from User categories for discussion, I have removed the category Category:Wikipedians interested in books from your userpage. Help

helpme Hi, how do I get all those fancy fonts, colours and effects on my signature? Also, when I have got them, how do I incorporate them into my permanent signature? Is it done in My Preferences? Thanks, Jordan5001 (talk) 15:35, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, WP:SIGN provides more information on how to do this. If you use code in your signature, make sure to check the "Raw Signature" check box on the first page of your preferences. If you need help with the code itself, take a look at my signature. Hope this helps. Hersfold (t/a/c) 16:46, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm still having problems. Say I wanted to have my signature red, I would put this, right?
<span style="color:red">Jordan5001</style>
But when I put this into my raw signature box on my preferences box, and then save it, and sign my signature somewhere, I comes up in code instead of red writing saying "Jordan5001".

I guess I need to do it somewhere else other than my preferences? Or am I doing it in the right place and need to add something else to the code? I think I'm asking about a very simple thing, but can't find the page which tells me how to do it. Thanks again, Jordan5001 (talk) 15:26, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Some browsers allow you to 'find' for a particular word. Trying Ctrl + F - you might be able to get a find option... then type in the misspelt word! --The Helpful One (Review) 17:04, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cornelius dab page

Hi, Jordan5001. I have edited the entry you made to Cornelius to make it comply with the manual of style for disambiguation pages. This specifies that there should only be one navigable (blue) link per entry. Additionally, the link for Cornelius Agrippa is actually a redirect to Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa who was a real person. So, I pulled that out of the fictional section. Happy editing. Gwguffey (talk) 04:35, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Natalie Jones

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Natalie Jones, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Natalie Jones seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Actors

helpme Hi,
I'm just wondering about something concerning actor pages and similar bio articles. The tables used for their filmography. The tables look very well-presented and are easy to coordinate around, etc - but only on the well-known actors. For the tables I'm talking about, see Eddie Murphy, the filmography section. Should all actor pages have tables like this? After all, I believe that it makes the article much better, and would do even if the actor or actress has not made as much appearances in TV/films as Eddie Murphy :) Thanks --> OlliffeΦObscurity 21:48, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You should probably ask at WP:FILM, the wikiproject that looks after movies and things. Or just be bold and start adding the tables, and be prepared to discuss your changes on the talkpage of course. // roux   21:52, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Information on your Userpage

Hi OlliffeObscurity. I don't intend to scare you away or attempt to intimidate you, but I thought you might want to reconsider some of the items on your userpage. You may have not realised that the items on your userpage release personal information about yourself (real name or age etc), which could be used against you in the future. While 99% of all the editors on Wikipedia are friendly, welcoming and harmless, there is a chance your personal information could be misused by editors not so 'high-minded'. A handful of editors have even felt real-world implications due to their Wikipedia edits and release of personal information.

I have deleted some revisions of your userpage in respect to your privacy for the time being, just in case you wish to reverse on your decision to have such content on public display. As a result, the information is only available to administrators. You are, of course, welcome to ask myself or another administrator to restore them, but I just wanted to make you aware of the risks involved with releasing personal information on such a public forum. If you wish to to have the personal information removed so that even administrators cannot view it, I can request oversight on your behalf. You are also welcome to discuss this with me on my talk page, or privately via e-mail if you have any concerns. Hope to hear from you. \ Backslash Forwardslash / {talk} 22:04, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help

helpme Someone I know has recently started their own photography business, and I need to know if a business that minor (but genuine) is valid enough to have its own article on Wikipedia. The photographer's website can be found here. Thanks OlliffeΦObscurity 14:32, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's probably a bad idea, for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, you'd have a conflict of interest, and we strongly recommend that you don't write articles about things that you are closely involved with - simply because it is extremely difficult to maintain a neutral point-of-view. For more on this topic, see WP:BFAQ.
Secondly, from your description, I doubt that it would meet our general notability guideline, because it wouldn't have "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" - such as, for example, independent newspaper articles about the business (not adverts).
I'm sorry that I cannot write in a more positive way, but I hope that this at least clarifies; I think that you will have a much happier time on Wikipedia if you help us to develop other articles. For more help, you can either;
 • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
 • Use a helpme - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put helpme, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end; OR
 • Talk to us live, with this or this.
